83 1 The people of Israel pray unto the Lord to deliver them from their enemies both at home and far off, which imagined nothing but their destruction. 9 And they desire that all such wicked people may according as God was accustomed, be stricken with the stormy tempest of God’s wrath, 18 That they may know that the Lord is most high upon the earth.

1 Keep [a]not thou silence, O God: be not still, and cease not, O God.
2 For lo, thine [b]enemies make a tumult, and they that hate thee, have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy [c]secret ones.
4 They have said, Come and let us [d]cut them off from being a nation: and let the name of Israel be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together in [e]heart, and have made a league [f]against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites:
7 Gebal and Ammon, and Amalek, the Philistines, with the inhabitants of [g]Tyre.
8 Assyria also is joined with them: they have been an arm to the children [h]of Lot. Selah.
9 Do thou to them as unto the [i]Midianites: as to Sisera and as to Jabin at the river of Kishon.
10 They perished at En Dor, and were [j]dung for the earth.
11 Make them, even their princes, like (A)Oreb and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmunna,
12 Which have said, Let us take for our possession the [k]habitations of God.
13 O my God, make them like unto a [l]wheel, and as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burneth the forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire:
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may [m]seek thy Name, O Lord.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled forever: yea, let them be put to shame, and perish,
18 That they may [n]know that thou, which art calleth Jehovah, art alone, even the most High over all the earth.
146 1 David declareth his great zeal that he hath to praise God. 3 And teacheth, not to trust in man, but only in God Almighty, 7 Which delivereth the afflicted, 9 Defendeth the strangers, comforteth the fatherless, and the widows, 10 And reigneth forever.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Praise thou the Lord, O my [a]soul.
2 I will praise the Lord during my life; as long as I have any being, I will sing unto my God.
3 Put not your trust in [b]Princes, nor in the son of man, for there is no help in him.
4 His breath departeth, and he returneth to his earth; then his [c]thoughts perish.
5 Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 Which made [d]heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is; which keepeth his fidelity forever,
7 Which executeth justice [e]for the oppressed, which giveth bread to the hungry; the Lord looseth the prisoners.
8 The Lord giveth sight to the blind: the Lord raiseth up the crooked: the Lord [f]loveth the righteous.
9 The Lord keepeth the [g]strangers: he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but he overthroweth the way of the wicked.
10 The Lord shall [h]reign forever: O Zion, thy God endureth from generation to generation. Praise ye the Lord.
147 1 The Prophet praiseth the bounty, wisdom, power, justice, and providence of God upon all his creatures. 2 But specially upon his Church, which he gathereth together after their dispersion, 19 Declaring his word and judgment so unto them, as he hath done to none other people.
1 Praise ye the Lord, for it is good to sing unto our God: for it is a [i]pleasant thing, and praise is comely.
2 The Lord doth build up [j]Jerusalem, and gather together the dispersed of Israel.
3 He healeth those that are [k]broken in heart, and bindeth up their sores.
4 He [l]counteth the number of the stars, and calleth them all by their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and great is his power: his wisdom is infinite.
6 The Lord relieveth the meek, and abaseth the wicked to the [m]ground.
7 Sing unto the Lord with praise: sing upon the harp unto our God,
8 Which [n]covereth the heaven with clouds, and prepareth rain for the earth, and maketh the grass to grow upon the mountains:
9 Which giveth to beasts their food, and to the young ravens that [o]cry.
10 He hath no pleasure in the [p]strength of an horse, neither delighteth he in the legs of man.
11 But the Lord delighteth in them that fear him, and attend upon his mercy.
12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Zion.
13 For he hath made the bars of the gates [q]strong, and hath blessed thy children within thee.
14 He setteth peace in thy borders, and satisfieth thee with the [r]flour of wheat.
15 He sendeth forth his [s]commandment upon earth, and his word runneth very [t]swiftly.
16 He giveth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoary frost like ashes.
17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can abide the cold thereof?
18 He sendeth his word and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19 He showeth his [u]word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
20 He hath not dealt so with every nation, neither have they [v]known his judgments. Praise ye the Lord.
85 1 Because God withdrew not his rods from his Church after their return from Babylon, first they put him in mind of their deliverance, to the intent that he should not leave the work of his grace imperfect. 5 Next they complain of their long affliction. 8 And thirdly, they rejoice in hope of felicity promised. 9 For their deliverance was a figure of Christ’s kingdom, under the which should be perfect felicity.

1 Lord, thou hast been [a]favorable unto thy land: thou hast brought again the captivity of Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, and [b]covered all their sins. Selah.
3 Thou hast withdrawn all thine anger, and hast turned back from the [c]fierceness of thy wrath.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and release thine anger toward us.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us [d]forever? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another?
6 Wilt thou not turn again and quicken us, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy [e]salvation.
8 I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speak [f]peace unto his people, and to his Saints, that they turn not again to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth shall meet, righteousness and peace shall kiss one another.
11 [g]Truth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, the Lord shall give good things, and our land shall give her increase.
13 [h]Righteousness shall go before him, and shall set her steps in the way.
86 1 David sore afflicted and forsaken of all, prayeth fervently for deliverance: sometimes rehearsing his miseries, 5 Sometimes the mercies received. 11 Desiring also to be instructed of the Lord, that he may fear him, and glorify his Name. 14 He complaineth also of his adversaries, and requireth to be delivered from them.

1 Incline [i]thine ear, O Lord, and hear me: for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve thou my soul, for I am [j]merciful: my God, save thou thy servant, that trusteth in thee.
3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I [k]cry upon thee continually.
4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For thou, Lord, art good and [l]merciful, and of great kindness unto all them that call upon thee.
6 Give ear, Lord, unto my prayer, and [m]hearken to the voice of my supplication.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou hearest me.
8 Among the gods there is none like thee, O Lord, and there is none [n]that can do like thy works.
9 All nations whom thou hast made, shall come and [o]worship before thee, O Lord, and shall glorify thy Name.
10 For thou art great and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
11 [p]Teach me thy way, O Lord, and I will walk in thy truth: knit mine heart unto thee, that I may fear thy Name.

14 O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have [r]sought my soul, and have not set thee before them.
15 But thou, O Lord, art a pitiful God and merciful, slow to anger, and great in kindness and truth.
16 Turn unto me, and have mercy upon me: give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the [s]son of thine handmaid.
17 Show a token of thy goodness toward me, that they which hate me, may see it, and be ashamed, because thou, O Lord, hast helped me and comforted me.
9 6 Jehu is made king of Israel. 24 And killeth Jehoram the king thereof, 27 And Ahaziah, otherwise called Jehoahaz, the king of Judah. 33 And causeth Jezebel to be cast down out of a window, and the dogs did eat her.
1 Then Elisha the Prophet called one of the children of the Prophets, and said unto him, (A)[a]Gird thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and get thee to Ramoth Gilead.
2 And when thou comest thither, look where is Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and lead him [b]to a secret chamber.
3 Then take the box of oil and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee for king over Israel: then open the door, and flee without any tarrying.
4 So the servant of the Prophet got him to Ramoth Gilead.
5 And when he came in, behold, the captains of the army were sitting. And he said, I have a message to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he answered, To thee, O captain.
6 And he arose, and went into the house, and he poured the oil on his head and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have [c]anointed thee for king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.
7 And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the Prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord (B)of the hand of Jezebel.
8 For the whole house of Ahab shall be destroyed: and (C)I will cut off from Ahab, him that maketh water against the wall, as well him that is shut up, as him that is left in Israel.
9 And I will make the house of Ahab, like the house (D)of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house (E)of Baasha the son of Ahijah.
10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the field of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
11 ¶ Then Jehu came out to the [d]servants of his lord. And one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this [e]mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and what his talk was.
12 And they said, It is false, tell us it now. Then he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee for King over Israel.
13 Then they made haste, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, Jehu is King.
14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram: (Now Joram kept Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Aram.
15 And (F)king Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds, which the Aramites had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Aram) and Jehu said, If it be your minds, let no man depart and escape out of the city, to go and tell in Jezreel.
16 So Jehu got up into a chariot, and went to Jezreel: for Joram lay there, and [f]Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
12 ¶ (A)[a][b]All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not profitable. I may do all things, but I will not be brought under the [c]power of any thing.
13 [d]Meats are ordained for the belly, and the belly for the meats: but God shall destroy both it, and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 And God hath also raised up the Lord, and (B)shall raise us up by his power.
15 [e]Know ye not, that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
16 [f]Do ye not know, that he which coupleth himself with an harlot, is one body? (C)for [g]two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord, is one spirit.
18 [h]Flee fornication: every sin that a man doeth, is without the body: but he that commiteth fornication, sinneth against his own body.
19 [i]Know ye not, that (D)your body is the temple of the holy Ghost, which is in you, whom ye have of God? and [j]ye are not your own.
20 (E)For ye are bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit: for they are God’s.

1 Take heed that ye give not your [a]alms before men to be seen of them, or else ye shall have no [b]reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 (A)Therefore when thou givest thine alms, thou shalt not make a trumpet to be blown before thee, as the [c]hypocrites do in the Synagogues and in the streets, to be praised of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
3 But when thou doest thine alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth,
4 That thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father that seeth in secret, he will reward thee openly.
5 [d]And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the Synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, because they would be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
6 But when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber: and when thou hast shut thy door, pray unto thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
16 [a]Moreover, when ye fast, look not sour as the hypocrites: for they [b]disfigure their faces, that they might seem unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you that they have their reward.
17 But when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face,
18 That thou seem not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
