25 1 The Prophet touched with the consideration of his sins, and also grieved with the cruel malice of his enemies, 6 Prayeth to God most fervently to have his sins forgiven. 7 Especially such as he had committed in his youth. He beginneth every verse according to the Hebrew letters, two or three except.
A Psalm of David.
1 Unto thee, [a]O Lord, lift I up my soul.
2 My God, I [b]trust in thee; let me not be confounded: let not mine enemies rejoice over me.
3 (A)So all that hope in thee, shall not be ashamed; but let them be confounded, that transgress without cause.
4 [c]Show me thy ways, O Lord, and teach me thy paths.
5 Lead me forth in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation: in thee do I trust [d]all the day.
6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies, and thy lovingkindness: for they have been forever.
7 Remember not the [e]sins of my youth, nor my rebellions, but according to thy kindness remember thou me, even for thy goodness sake, O Lord.
8 Gracious and righteous is the Lord: therefore will he [f]teach sinners in the way.
9 Them that be meek, will he [g]guide in judgment, and teach the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies:
11 For thy [h]Name’s sake, O Lord, be merciful unto mine iniquity, for it is great.
12 What [i]man is he that feareth the Lord? him will he teach the way that he shall [j]choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at [k]ease, and his seed shall inherit the land.
14 The [l]secret of the Lord is revealed to them that fear him: and his Covenant to give them understanding.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord: for he will bring my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thy face unto me, and have mercy upon me: for I am desolate and poor.
17 The sorrows of mine heart [m]are enlarged: draw me out of my troubles.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my travail, and forgive all my sins.
19 Behold mine [n]enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 Keep my soul and deliver me: let me not be confounded: for I trust in thee.
21 Let [o]mine uprightness and equity preserve me; for mine hope is in thee.
22 Deliver Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.
9 1 After he had given thanks to God for the sundry victories that he had sent him against his enemies, and also proved by manifold experience, how ready God was at hand in all his troubles. 14 He being now likewise in danger of new enemies, desireth God to help him according to his wont, 17 and to destroy the malicious arrogance of his adversaries.
To him that excelleth upon [a]Muth Labben. A Psalm of David.
1 I will praise the Lord with my [b]whole heart: I will speak of all thy marvelous works.
2 I will be glad, and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy Name, O most High.
3 For that mine enemies are turned back: they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
4 For [c]thou hast maintained my right and my cause: thou art set in the throne, and judgest right.
5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen: thou hast destroyed the wicked: thou hast put out their name forever and ever.
6 [d]O enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end, and thou hast destroyed the cities: their memorial is perished with them.
7 But the Lord [e]shall sit forever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
8 For he shall judge the world in righteousness, and shall judge the people with equity.
9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the [f]poor, a refuge in due time, even in affliction.
10 And they that know thy Name, will trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not failed them that seek thee.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: show the people his works.
12 For [g]when he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth it, and forgetteth not the complaint of the poor.
13 Have mercy upon me, O Lord: consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death,
14 That I may show all thy praises within the [h]gates of the daughter of Zion, and rejoice in thy salvation.
15 The heathen are [i]sunken down in the pit that they made: in the net that they hid, is their foot taken.
16 [j]The Lord is known by executing judgment: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands, [k]Higgaion. Selah.
17 The wicked shall turn into hell, and all nations that forget God.
18 For the poor shall not be always forgotten: the hope [l]of the afflicted shall not perish forever.
19 Up Lord: let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
20 Put them in fear, O Lord, that the heathen may know that they are but [m]men. Selah.
15 1 This Psalm teacheth on what condition God did choose the Jews for his peculiar people; and wherefore he placed his Temple among them, which was to the intent that they by living uprightly and godly, might witness that they were his special and holy people.
A Psalm of David.
1 Lord, who shall dwell in thy Tabernacle? who shall rest in thine holy Mountain?
2 He that [a]walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that slandereth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor receiveth a false report against his neighbor.
4 [b]In whose eyes a vile person is contemned, but he honoreth them that fear the Lord: he that sweareth to his own hindrance and changeth not.
5 He that [c]giveth not his money unto usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent: he that doeth these things, [d]shall never be moved.
32 ¶ Moreover, as touching the stranger which is not of thy people Israel, who shall come out of a far country for thy great Name’s sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm: when they shall come and [a]pray in this house,
33 Hear thou in heaven, thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth for unto thee, that all the people of the earth may know thy Name, and fear thee like thy people Israel, and that they may know that thy Name is called upon in this house which I have built.
34 ¶ When thy people shall go out to battle against their enemies, by the way that [b]thou shalt send them, and they pray to thee, [c]in the way toward this city, which thou hast chosen, even toward the house which I have built to thy Name,
35 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and judge their cause.
36 If they sin against thee ((A)for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them unto the enemies, and they take them and carry them away captive unto a land far or near,
37 If they [d]turn again to their heart in the land whither they be carried in captives, and turn and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have transgressed and have done wickedly,
38 If they turn again to thee with all their heart, and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy Name,
39 Then hear thou in heaven, in the place of thine habitation, their prayer and their supplication, and [e]judge their cause, and be merciful unto thy people, which have sinned against thee.
40 Now my God, I beseech thee, let thine eyes be open, and thine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
41 (B)Now therefore arise, O Lord God, to come into thy [f]rest, thou, and the Ark of thy strength: O Lord God, let thy Priests be clothed with [g]salvation, and let thy Saints rejoice in goodness.
42 O Lord God, refuse not the face of [h]thine anointed: remember the mercies promised to David thy servant.
7 1 The fire consumeth the sacrifice. 2 The glory of the Lord filleth the Temple. 12 He heareth his prayer, 17 and promised to exalt him and his throne.
1 And when Solomon had made an end of praying, [i]fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices: and the glory of the Lord filled the house,
2 So that the Priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house.
3 And when all the children of Israel saw the fire, and the glory of the Lord come down upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the earth upon the pavement, and worshipped and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good, because his mercy lasteth forever.
4 (C)Then the King and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord.
5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of two and twenty thousand bullocks, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
6 And the Priests waited on their offices, and the Levites with the instruments of music of the Lord, which king David had made to praise the Lord, because his mercy lasteth forever: when David praised God [j]by them, the Priests also blew trumpets over against them: and all they of Israel stood by.
7 Moreover, Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he had prepared burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made, was not able to receive the burnt offering, and the meat offering, and the fat.
2 1 He sayeth, that to have respect of persons is not agreeable to Christ’s faith, 14 which to profess in words is not enough, unless 15 we show it also in deeds of mercy and charity, 21 after the example of Abraham.
1 My [a]brethren, have not the faith of our [b]glorious Lord Jesus Christ (A)in respect of persons.
2 For if there come into your company a man with a gold ring, and in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment,
3 And ye have a respect to him that weareth the gay clothing; and say unto him, Sit thou here in a [c]goodly place, and say unto the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool,
4 Are ye not partial in [d]your selves, and are become Judges of evil thoughts?
5 [e]Hearken my beloved brethren, hath not God chosen the [f]poor of this world, that they should be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. [g]Do not the rich oppress you by tyranny, and do they not draw you before the judgment seats?
7 Do not they blaspheme the worthy Name after which ye be [h]named?
8 [i]But if ye fulfill the [j]royal Law according to the Scripture, which saith, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well.
9 But if ye regard the persons, ye commit sin, and are rebuked of the Law, as transgressors.
10 [k]For whosoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet faileth in one point, he is guilty of [l]all.
11 [m]For he that said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not kill. Now though thou doest none adultery, yet if thou killest, thou art a transgressor of the Law.
12 [n]So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judgeth by the Law of liberty.
13 For there shall be condemnation merciless to him that showeth not [o]mercy, and mercy rejoiceth against condemnation.
53 (A)So they led Jesus away to the high Priest, and to him came [a]together all the high Priests, and the Elders, and the Scribes.
54 And Peter followed him afar off, even into the hall of the high Priest, and sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
55 [b]And the (B)high Priests, and all the Council sought for witness against Jesus, to put him to death, but found none.
56 For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
57 Then there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
58 We heard him say, (C)I will destroy this Temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another, made without hands.
59 But their witness yet agreed not together.
60 Then the high Priest stood up amongst them, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is the matter that these bear witness against thee?
61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high Priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou that Christ the son of the [c]Blessed?
62 And Jesus said, I am he, (D)and ye shall see the Son of man sit at the right hand of the power of God, and come in the clouds of heaven.
63 Then the high Priest rent his clothes, and said, What have we anymore need of witnesses?
64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death.
65 [d]And some began to spit at him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to say unto him, Prophesy. And the sergeants smote him with their rods.
