Psalm 119:97-120

MEM

97 Oh how love I thy law! it is my meditation [a]continually.

98 By thy commandments thou hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

99 I have had more [b]understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

100 I understood more than the ancient, because I kept thy precepts.

101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

102 I have not declined from thy judgments: for [c]thou didst teach me.

103 How sweet are thy promises unto my mouth! yea, more than honey unto my mouth.

104 By thy precepts I have gotten understanding: therefore I hate all the ways of falsehood.

NUN

105 Thy word is a [d]lantern unto my feet, and a light unto my paths.

106 I have [e]sworn and will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am very sore afflicted: O Lord, quicken me according to thy word.

108 O Lord, I beseech thee, accept the [f]free offering of my mouth, and teach me thy judgments.

109 My [g]soul is continually in mine hand: yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: but I swerved not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an [h]heritage forever: for they are the joy of mine heart.

112 I have applied mine heart to fulfill thy statutes always, even unto the end.

SAMECH

113 I hate [i]vain inventions: but thy Law do I love.

114 Thou art my refuge and shield, and I trust in thy word.

115 [j]Away from me, ye wicked: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

116 Stablish me according to thy promise, that I may live, and disappoint me not of mine hope.

117 [k]Stay thou me, and I shall be safe, and I will delight continually in thy statutes.

118 Thou hast trodden down all them that depart from thy statutes: for their [l]deceit is vain.

119 Thou hast taken away all the wicked of the earth like [m]dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.

120 My flesh [n]trembleth for fear of thee, and I am afraid of thy judgments.

Psalm 81-82

81 1 An exhortation to praise God both in heart and voice for his benefits, 8 and to worship him only. 11 God condemneth their ingratitude, 12 and showeth what great benefit they have lost through their own malice.

To him that excelleth upon [a]Gittith. A Psalm committeth to Asaph.

Sing [b]joyfully unto God our strength: sing loud unto the God of Jacob.

Take the song and bring forth the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the viol.

Blow the trumpet in the [c]new moon, even in the time appointed at our feast day.

For this is a statute for Israel, and a Law of the God of Jacob.

He set this in [d]Joseph for a testimony, when he came out of the land of Egypt, where I heard a language, that [e]I understood not.

I have withdrawn his shoulder from the burden, and his hands have left the [f]pots.

Thou calledst in affliction, and I delivered thee, and [g]answered thee in the secret of the thunder: I proved thee at the waters of [h]Meribah. Selah.

[i]Hear, O my people, and I will protest unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me,

And wilt have no strange god in thee, neither worship any strange god,

10 (For I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:) [j]open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people would not hear my voice, and Israel would none of me,

12 So I gave them up unto the hardness of their heart, and they have walked in their own counsels.

13 [k]Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

14 I would soon have humbled their enemies, and turned mine hand [l]against their adversaries.

15 The haters of the Lord should have been subject unto him, and their time [m]should have endured forever.

16 And God would have fed them with the [n]fat of wheat, and with honey out of the rock would I have sufficed thee.

82 1 The Prophet declaring God to be present among the Judges and Magistrates, 2 Reproveth their partiality. 3 And exhorteth them to do justice. 5 But seeing none amendment, 8 He desireth God to undertake the matter and execute justice himself.

A Psalm committeth to Aspah.

God standeth in the assembly of [o]gods: he judgeth among gods.

How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the [p]wicked? Selah.

Do right to the poor and fatherless: do justice to the poor and needy.

Deliver the poor and [q]needy: save them from the hand of the wicked.

They know not and understand nothing: they walk in darkness, albeit all the [r]foundations of the earth be moved.

I have said, Ye are gods, and ye all are children of the most High.

[s]But ye shall die as a man, and ye princes shall fall like others.

O God, arise, therefore judge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherit [t]all nations.

2 Kings 6:1-23

6 Elisha maketh iron to swim above the water. 8 He discloseth the king of Syria’s counsel to the king of Israel, 13 who sending certain to take him, were kept fast in Samaria. 24 Samaria is besieged, and endureth extreme famine.

And the children of the Prophets said unto Elisha, Behold, we pray thee, the place where we dwell with thee, is too little for us.

Let us now go to Jordan, that we may take thence every man a [a]beam, and make us a place to dwell in. And he answered, Go.

And one said, Vouchsafe, I pray thee, to go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

So he went with them, and when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

And as one was felling of a tree, the [b]iron fell into the water: then he cried, and said, Alas master, it was but borrowed.

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he showed him the place. Then he cut down a piece of wood, and cast in thither, and he caused the iron to [c]swim.

Then he said, Take it up to thee. And he stretched out his hand, and took it.

¶ Then the king of Aram warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, and said, In [d]such and such a place shall be my camp.

Therefore the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware thou go not over to such a place: for there the Aramites are come down.

10 So the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him, and warned him of, and [e]saved himself from thence, not once, nor twice.

11 And the heart of the king of Aram was troubled for this thing: therefore he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not show me, which of us bewrayeth our counsel to the king of Israel?

12 Then one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king, but Elisha the Prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel, even the words that thou speakest in thy [f]privy chamber.

13 And he said, Go, and espy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And one told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

14 ¶ So he sent thither horses, and chariots, and a [g]mighty host: and they came by night, and compassed the city.

15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early to go out, behold, an host compassed the city with horses and chariots. Then his servant said unto him, Alas master, how shall we do?

16 And he answered, [h]Fear not: (A)for they that be with us, are more than they that be with them.

17 Then Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I beseech thee, open his eyes, [i]that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the servant, and he looked, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

18 So [j]they came down to him, but Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha.

19 And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will lead you to the man whom ye seek. But he led [k]them to Samaria.

20 And when they were come to Samaria, Elisha said, Lord, open their eyes that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw, and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

21 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha when he saw them, [l]My father, shall I smite them, shall I smite them?

22 And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: doest thou not smite them that thou hast taken with thy sword, and with thy bow? but set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.

23 And he made great preparation for them: and when they had eaten and drunken, he sent them away: and they went to their master. So the bands of Aram came [m]no more into the land of Israel.

1 Corinthians 5:9-6:8

[a]I wrote unto you in an Epistle, that ye should not company together with fornicators,

10 And not [b]altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or with extortioners, or with idolaters: for then ye must go out of the world.

11 But now I have written unto you, that ye company not together: if any that is called a brother, be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner, with such one eat not.

12 [c]For what have I to do to judge them also which are without? do ye not judge them that are within?

13 But God judgeth them that are without. Put away therefore from among yourselves that wicked man.

1 He inveigheth against their contention in law matters, 6 wherewith they vexed one another under judges that were infidels, to the reproach of the Gospel, 9 and then sharply threateneth fornicators.

Dare [d][e]any of you, having business against another, be judged [f]under the unjust, [g]and not under the Saints?

[h]Do ye not know that the Saints shall judge the world? If the world then shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Know ye not that we shall judge the Angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

[i]If then ye have [j]judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them up which are [k]least esteemed in the Church.

[l]I speak it to your shame. Is it so that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one, that can judge between his brethren?

But a brother goeth to law with a brother, and that under the infidels.

[m]Now therefore there is altogether [n]infirmity in you, that ye go to law one with another: (A)[o]why rather suffer ye not wrong? why rather sustain ye not harm?

(B)Nay, ye yourselves do wrong, and do harm, and that to your brethren.

Matthew 5:38-48

38 [a]Ye have heard that it hath been said, An (A)eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

39 But I say unto you, (B)Resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41 And whosoever will compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 (C)Give to him that asketh, and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, (D)Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, (E)Love your enemies: bless them that curse you: do good to them that hate you, (F)and pray for them which hurt you, and persecute you,

45 (G)[b]That ye may be the children of your father that is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to arise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and unjust.

46 For if ye love them, which love you, what reward shall you have? Do not the Publicans even the same?

47 And if ye be friendly to your brethren only, what singular thing do ye? do not even the [c]Publicans likewise?

48 Ye shall therefore be perfect, as your Father which is in heaven, is perfect.
