  1. And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
  2. (Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.
  3. So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
  4. “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;
  5. even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
  6. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
  7. Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,
  8. while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
  9. The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.
  10. But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
  11. Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
  12. so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them.
  13. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said,
  14. But a Pharisee in the council named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in honor by all the people, stood up and gave orders to put the men outside for a little while.
  15. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.
  16. and said to him, ‘Go out from your land and from your kindred and go into the land that I will show you.’
  17. Then he went out from the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran. And after his father died, God removed him from there into this land in which you are now living.
  18. ‘But I will judge the nation that they serve,’ said God, ‘and after that they shall come out and worship me in this place.’
  19. and rescued him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who made him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.
  20. But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers on their first visit.
  21. This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in Egypt and at the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years.
  22. saying to Aaron, ‘Make for us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’
  23. Our fathers in turn brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before our fathers. So it was until the days of David,
  24. But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him.
  25. Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
  26. And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
  27. And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
  28. For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.
  29. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.
  30. So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.
  31. But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.
  32. and called out to ask whether Simon who was called Peter was lodging there.
  33. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.
  34. And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people.
  35. Peter Is Rescued

    Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison.
  36. And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.
  37. When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him.
  38. They said to her, “You are out of your mind.” But she kept insisting that it was so, and they kept saying, “It is his angel!”
  39. But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.
  40. Barnabas and Saul on Cyprus

    So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.
  41. The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it.
  42. And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.
  43. As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next Sabbath.
  44. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

  46. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out,
  47. Paul Stoned at Lystra

    But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
  48. Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions,
  49. And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
  50. She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.”
  51. And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.
  52. Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
  53. And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go. Therefore come out now and go in peace.”
  54. But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out.”
  55. So they came and apologized to them. And they took them out and asked them to leave the city.
  56. So they went out of the prison and visited Lydia. And when they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them and departed.
  57. But the Jews were jealous, and taking some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd.
  58. So Paul went out from their midst.
  59. And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
  60. so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.
  61. And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
  62. When they heard this they were enraged and were crying out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
  63. Now some cried out one thing, some another, for the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together.
  64. But when they recognized that he was a Jew, for about two hours they all cried out with one voice, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
  65. And having sought out the disciples, we stayed there for seven days. And through the Spirit they were telling Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.
  66. When our days there were ended, we departed and went on our journey, and they all, with wives and children, accompanied us until we were outside the city. And kneeling down on the beach, we prayed
  67. crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against the people and the law and this place. Moreover, he even brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.”
  68. Then all the city was stirred up, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut.
  69. for the mob of the people followed, crying out, “Away with him!”
  70. Are you not the Egyptian, then, who recently stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?”
  71. and saw him saying to me, ‘Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’
  72. the tribune ordered him to be brought into the barracks, saying that he should be examined by flogging, to find out why they were shouting against him like this.
  73. But when they had stretched him out for the whips, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by, “Is it lawful for you to flog a man who is a Roman citizen and uncondemned?”
  74. Now when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”
  75. By examining him yourself you will be able to find out from him about everything of which we accuse him.”
  76. other than this one thing that I cried out while standing among them: ‘It is with respect to the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you this day.’”
  77. And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews laid out their case against Paul, and they urged him,
  78. and when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid out their case against him, asking for a sentence of condemnation against him.
  79. Paul's Defense Before Agrippa

    So Agrippa said to Paul, “You have permission to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and made his defense:
  80. And as he was saying these things in his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind.”
  81. But Paul said, “I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I am speaking true and rational words.
  82. And putting out to sea from there we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us.
  83. And because the harbor was not suitable to spend the winter in, the majority decided to put out to sea from there, on the chance that somehow they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete, facing both southwest and northwest, and spend the winter there.
  84. And as the sailors were seeking to escape from the ship, and had lowered the ship's boat into the sea under pretense of laying out anchors from the bow,
  85. And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea.
  86. But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land,
  87. When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand.
