  11. Rivers of Living Water

    On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
  12. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
  13. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
  14. Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?”
  15. So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
  16. (His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.)
  17. They answered him, “You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cast him out.
  18. Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
  19. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
  20. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
  21. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
  22. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
  23. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
  24. When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
  25. When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.”
  26. The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

  28. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness.

  30. Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue;

    And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.
  32. Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet

    Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
  33. rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist.
  34. When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you?
  35. So, after receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night.
  36. A New Commandment

    When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
  37. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
  38. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
  39. “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
  40. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
  41. Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

    When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered.
  42. but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in.
  43. So Pilate went outside to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?”
  44. Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him.
  45. They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
  46. Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.”
  47. So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!”
  48. When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.”
  49. From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”
  50. So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic Gabbatha.
  51. They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”
  52. and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.
  53. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.
  54. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”
  55. So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb.
  56. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
  57. Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

    But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb.
  58. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
  59. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
  60. That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.
  61. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread.
  62. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”
