Psalm 147:12-20

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Zion.

13 For he hath made the bars of the gates [a]strong, and hath blessed thy children within thee.

14 He setteth peace in thy borders, and satisfieth thee with the [b]flour of wheat.

15 He sendeth forth his [c]commandment upon earth, and his word runneth very [d]swiftly.

16 He giveth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoary frost like ashes.

17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can abide the cold thereof?

18 He sendeth his word and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He showeth his [e]word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

20 He hath not dealt so with every nation, neither have they [f]known his judgments. Praise ye the Lord.

Proverbs 1:1-7

The [a]Proverbs of Solomon

2 The power and use of the word of God. 7 Of the fear of God and knowledge of his word. 10 We may not consent to the enticings of sinners. 20 Wisdom complaineth that she is contemned. 24 The punishment of them that contemn her.

The Parables of Solomon the son of David king of Israel,

To know wisdom, [b]and instruction, to understand the words [c]of knowledge,

To receive [d]instruction to do wisely, by [e]justice and judgment and equity,

To give unto the [f]simple sharpness of wit, and to the child knowledge and discretion.

And wise man shall hear and increase in learning, and a man of [g]understanding shall attain unto wise counsels,

To understand a parable, and the interpretation, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

(A)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

James 3:13-18

13 [a]Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show by good conversation his works in meekness of wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, rejoice not, neither be liars against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, and devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is sedition, and all manner of evil works.

17 But the wisdom that is from above, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of [b]mercy and good fruits, without judging, and without hypocrisy.

18 [c]And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace, of them that make peace.
