Psalm 138

Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Favor.

A Psalm of David.

138 (A)I will give You thanks with all my heart;
I will sing praises to You before the (B)gods.
I will bow down (C)toward Your holy temple
And (D)give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your [a]truth;
For You have (E)magnified Your [b]word [c]according to all Your name.
On the day I (F)called, You answered me;
You made me bold with (G)strength in my soul.

(H)All the kings of the earth will give thanks to You, O Lord,
When they have heard the words of Your mouth.
And they will (I)sing of the ways of the Lord,
For (J)great is the glory of the Lord.
For (K)though the Lord is exalted,
Yet He (L)regards the lowly,
But the (M)haughty He knows from afar.

Though I (N)walk in the midst of trouble, You will [d](O)revive me;
You will (P)stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will (Q)save me.
The Lord will (R)accomplish what concerns me;
Your (S)lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting;
(T)Do not forsake the (U)works of Your hands.

Numbers 27:12-23

12 (A)Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up to this (B)mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel. 13 When you have seen it, you too (C)will be gathered to your people, (D)as Aaron your brother [a]was; 14 for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, (E)you rebelled against My [b]command [c]to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

Joshua to Succeed Moses

15 Then Moses spoke to the Lord, saying, 16 (F)May the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, 17 who (G)will go out [d]and come in before them, and who will lead them out and [e]bring them in, so that the congregation of the Lord will not be (H)like sheep which have no shepherd.” 18 So the Lord said to Moses, “[f]Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man (I)in whom is the Spirit, and (J)lay your hand on him; 19 and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and (K)commission him in their sight. 20 You shall put some of your [g]authority on him, in order that all the congregation of the sons of Israel may obey him. 21 Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him (L)by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his [h]command they shall go out and at his [i]command they shall come in, both he and the sons of Israel with him, even all the congregation.” 22 Moses did just as the Lord commanded him; and he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. 23 Then he laid his hands on him and (M)commissioned him, just as the Lord had spoken [j]through Moses.

Acts 9:26-31

26 (A)When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; [a]but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple. 27 But (B)Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had (C)seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how (D)at Damascus he had (E)spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus. 28 And he was with them, [b]moving about freely in Jerusalem, (F)speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 And he was talking and arguing with the [c](G)Hellenistic Jews; but they were attempting to put him to death. 30 But when (H)the brethren learned of it, they brought him down to (I)Caesarea and (J)sent him away to (K)Tarsus.

31 So (L)the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria [d]enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.
