Isaiah 56:1

Salvation for Foreigners

56 Thus says the Lord:
“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
(A)for soon my salvation will come,
    and my deliverance be revealed.

Isaiah 56:6-8

“And (A)the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord,
    to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord,
    and to be his servants,
everyone (B)who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it,
    and holds fast my covenant—
(C)these I will bring to (D)my holy mountain,
    and make them joyful in my house of prayer;
(E)their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
    will be accepted on my altar;
for (F)my house shall be called a house of prayer
    for all peoples.”
The Lord God,
    (G)who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares,
(H)“I will gather yet others to him
    besides those already gathered.”

Psalm 67

Make Your Face Shine upon Us

To the choirmaster: with (A)stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

67 May God (B)be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face to (C)shine upon us, Selah
that (D)your way may be known on earth,
    your (E)saving power among all nations.
(F)Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you!
Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you (G)judge the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
(H)Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you!
The earth has (I)yielded its increase;
    God, our God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
    let (J)all the ends of the earth fear him!

Romans 11:1-2

The Remnant of Israel

11 I ask, then, (A)has God rejected his people? By no means! For (B)I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,[a] a member of the tribe of Benjamin. (C)God has not rejected his people whom he (D)foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?

Romans 11:29-32

29 For the gifts and (A)the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For just as (B)you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now[a] receive mercy. 32 For God (C)has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.

Matthew 15:10-20

What Defiles a Person

10 And he called the people to him and said to them, (A)“Hear and understand: 11 (B)it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were (C)offended when they heard this saying?” 13 He answered, (D)“Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted (E)will be rooted up. 14 Let them alone; (F)they are blind guides.[a] And (G)if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” 15 But Peter said to him, (H)“Explain the parable to us.” 16 And he said, (I)“Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not see that (J)whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?[b] 18 But (K)what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19 For out of the heart come (L)evil thoughts, (M)murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, (N)slander. 20 (O)These are what defile a person. But (P)to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

Matthew 15:21-28

The Faith of a Canaanite Woman

21 (A)And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, (B)a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, (C)“Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” 23 But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, (D)“Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” 24 He answered, (E)“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and (F)knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and (G)throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat (H)the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.” 28 Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, (I)great is your faith! (J)Be it done for you as you desire.” (K)And her daughter was (L)healed instantly.[a]
