Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
BOOK 1
The Way of the Righteous and Wicked
1 How blessed is the man who (A)does not walk in the (B)counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the (C)way of sinners,
Nor (D)sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his (E)delight is (F)in the law of [a]Yahweh,
And in His law he meditates (G)day and (H)night.
3 And he will be like (I)a tree firmly planted by [b]streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its [c]leaf does not wither;
And [d]in whatever he does, (J)he prospers.
25 “(A)So I fell down before Yahweh the forty days and the forty nights, which I [a]did because Yahweh had said He would destroy you. 26 (B)And I prayed to Yahweh and said, ‘O Lord Yahweh, do not destroy Your people, even Your inheritance, whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a strong hand. 27 Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look at the stiff-neck of this people or at their wickedness or their sin, 28 lest the land from which You brought us say, “(C)Because Yahweh was not able to bring them into the land which He had [b]promised them and because He hated them He has brought them out to put them to death in the wilderness.” 29 Yet they are Your people, even (D)Your inheritance, whom You have brought out by Your (E)great power and Your outstretched arm.’
The Tablets Rewritten
10 “At that time Yahweh said to me, ‘(F)Carve out for yourself two tablets of stone like the former ones, and come up to Me on the mountain, and (G)make an ark of wood for yourself. 2 (H)And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets which you shattered, and (I)you shall put them in the ark.’ 3 So (J)I made an ark of acacia wood and (K)carved out two tablets of stone like the former ones and went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. 4 And He wrote on the tablets, like the former writing, (L)the Ten [c]Commandments (M)which Yahweh had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire (N)on the day of the assembly; and Yahweh gave them to me. 5 Then I turned and (O)came down from the mountain and (P)put the tablets in the ark which I had made; (Q)and there they are, as Yahweh commanded me.”
11 For the grace of God has (A)appeared, [a](B)bringing salvation to all men, 12 [b]instructing us that, denying ungodliness and (C)worldly desires, we should (D)live sensibly, righteously, and godly (E)in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the (F)appearing of the glory of [c](G)our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who (H)gave Himself for us (I)that He might redeem us from all lawlessness, and (J)purify for Himself a (K)people for His own possession, (L)zealous for good works.
15 These things speak and (M)exhort and (N)reprove with all [d]authority. (O)Let no one disregard you.
