Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
8 The Lord is (A)gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
9 The Lord is (B)good to all,
And His (C)mercies are over all His works.
10 (D)All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord,
And Your (E)godly ones shall bless You.
11 They shall speak of the (F)glory of Your kingdom
And talk of Your power;
12 To (G)make known to the sons of men [a]Your mighty acts
And the (H)glory of the majesty of [b]Your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is [c]an (I)everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
The Golden Lampstand and Olive Trees
4 Then (A)the angel who was speaking with me returned and (B)roused me, as a man who is awakened from his sleep. 2 He said to me, “(C)What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a (D)lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its (E)seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; 3 also (F)two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side.” 4 Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, “What are these, (G)my lord?” 5 So (H)the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “(I)Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” 6 Then he [a]said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to (J)Zerubbabel saying, ‘(K)Not by might nor by power, but by My (L)Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts. 7 ‘What are you, O great (M)mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with (N)shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”
21 (A)At that very [a]time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I [b]praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 22 (B)All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and (C)no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”
23 (D)Turning to the disciples, He said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see, 24 for I say to you, that many prophets and kings wished to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.”
