Psalm 27:7-14

Hearken unto my voice, O Lord, when I cry: have mercy also upon me and hear me.

When thou saidest, [a]Seek ye my face, mine heart answered unto thee, O Lord, I will seek thy face.

Hide not therefore thy face from me, nor cast thy servant away in displeasure: thou hast been my succor, leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 [b]Though my father and my mother should forsake me, yet the Lord will gather me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a right path, because of mine enemies.

12 Give me not unto the [c]lust of mine adversaries: for there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such as speak cruelly.

13 I should have fainted, except I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord [d]in the land of the living.

14 [e]Hope in the Lord: be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart, and trust in the Lord.

Judges 6:11-24

11 ¶ And the Angel of the Lord came, and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the father of the Abiezrites, and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, [a]to hide it from the Midianites.

12 Then the Angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou valiant man.

13 To whom Gideon answered, [b]Ah my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this come upon us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, and said, Did not the Lord bring us out [of] Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hand of the Midianites.

14 And the [c]Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy [d]might, and thou shalt save Israel out of the hands of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15 And he answered him, Ah my Lord, whereby shall I save Israel? behold, my [e]father is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.

16 Then the Lord said unto him, I will therefore be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites, as one man.

17 And he answered him, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, then show me [f]a sign, that thou talkest with me.

18 Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring mine offering, and lay it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.

19 ¶ Then Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened bread of an [g]Ephah of flour, and put the flesh in a basket, and put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.

20 And the Angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened bread, and lay them upon this stone, and pour out the broth: and he did so.

21 ¶ Then the Angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that he held in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread: and there arose up fire [h]out of the stone, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened bread, so the Angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.

22 And when Gideon perceived that it was an Angel of the Lord, Gideon then said, Alas, my Lord God: (A)for because I have seen an Angel of the Lord face to face, I shall die.

23 And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee: fear not, thou shalt not die.

24 Then Gideon made an altar there unto the Lord, and called it [i]Jehovah Shalom: unto this day it is in Ophrah, of the father of the Abiezrites.

Ephesians 5:6-14

(A)Let no man deceive you with vain words: for, for such things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

[a]Be not therefore companions with them.

For ye were once darkness, but are now [b]light in the Lord: walk as children of light.

(For the fruit of the [c]Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth.)

10 Approving that which is pleasing to the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but even [d]reprove them rather.

12 For it is shame even to speak of the things which are done of them in secret.

13 But all things when they are reproved of the light, are manifest: for it is light that maketh all things manifest.

14 Wherefore [e]he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and stand up from the [f]dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
