Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
123 Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God until He has mercy upon us.
3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us, for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
25 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite and said:
2 “Dominion and fear are with Him; He maketh peace in His high places.
3 Is there any number to His armies? And upon whom doth not His light arise?
4 How then can man be justified before God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
5 Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in His sight.
6 How much less man, that is a worm? And the son of man, that is a worm?”
26 But Job answered and said:
2 “How hast thou helped him that is without power? How savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
3 How hast thou counseled him that hath no wisdom? And how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?
4 To whom hast thou uttered words? And whose spirit came from thee?
5 Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
6 “Hell is naked before Him, and destruction hath no covering.
7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8 He bindeth up the waters in His thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them.
9 He holdeth back the face of His throne, and spreadeth His cloud upon it.
10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble, and are astonished at His reproof.
12 He divideth the sea with His power, and by His understanding He smiteth through the proud.
13 By His Spirit He hath garnished the heavens; His hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
14 Lo, these are parts of His ways, but how little a portion is heard of Him! But the thunder of His power, who can understand?”
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, “Verily, verily I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do; for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son and showeth Him all things that He Himself doeth; and He will show Him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead and quickeneth them, even so the Son quickeneth whom He will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son,
23 that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father who hath sent Him.
24 Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth My Word and believeth in Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life.
25 “Verily, verily I say unto you, the hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in Himself, so hath He given to the Son to have life in Himself,
27 and hath given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
28 Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice
29 and shall come forth — they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
