26 Then the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband had died, so (A)she lamented over her husband. 27 Then the time of mourning passed by, and David sent and gathered her to his house and (B)she became his wife; then she bore him a son. But (C)the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of Yahweh.
Yahweh Sends Nathan to David
12 Then Yahweh sent (D)Nathan to David. And (E)he came to him and [a]said,
“There were two men in one city, the one rich and the other poor.
2 The rich man had a great many flocks and herds.
3 But the poor man had nothing except (F)one little ewe lamb
Which he bought and nourished;
And it grew up together with him and his children.
It would eat his morsel of bread and drink of his cup and lie in his bosom,
And was like a daughter to him.
4 Now a visitor came to the rich man,
And he [b]was unwilling to take from his own flock or his own herd,
To prepare for the traveler who had come to him;
Rather he took the poor man’s ewe lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”
5 Then David’s anger burned greatly against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As Yahweh lives, surely the man who has done this [c](G)deserves to die. 6 And he must make restitution for the lamb (H)fourfold, because he did this thing and had no compassion.”
7 Nathan then said to David, “(I)You are the man! Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘(J)It is I who anointed you king over Israel and it is I who delivered you from the hand of Saul. 8 I also gave you (K)your master’s house and your master’s wives into your [d]care, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added to you many more things like these! 9 Why (L)have you despised the word of Yahweh by doing evil in His sight? (M)You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword, (N)have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the sons of Ammon. 10 So now, (O)the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’
13 Then David said to Nathan, “(A)I have sinned against Yahweh.” And Nathan said to David, “Yahweh also has [a](B)taken away your sin; you shall not die. 14 However, because by this deed you have (C)given occasion to the enemies of Yahweh to blaspheme, the son also that is born to you shall surely die.” 15 And Nathan went to his house.
David’s Child Dies
Then Yahweh smote the child that Uriah’s wife bore to David, so that he was very sick.
You Forgave the Iniquity of My Sin

32 (A)How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
2 How blessed is the man whose iniquity Yahweh (B)will not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (C)no deceit!
3 When (D)I kept silent about my sin, (E)my [b]bones wasted away
Through my [c](F)groaning all day long.
4 For day and night (G)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [d](H)vitality was drained away as with the heat of summer. [e]Selah.
5 I (I)acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I (J)did not cover up;
I said, “(K)I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;”
And You (L)forgave the [f]iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 Therefore, let every holy one pray to You [g](M)at a time when You may be found;
Surely (N)in a flood of great waters they will not reach him.
7 You are (O)my hiding place; You (P)guard me from trouble;
You surround me with [h](Q)songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will (R)give you insight and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you (S)with My eye upon you.
9 Do not be (T)as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose harness are bit and bridle to control them,
Otherwise they will not come near you.
10 Many are the (U)sorrows of the wicked,
But (V)he who trusts in Yahweh, lovingkindness shall surround him.
11 Be (W)glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (X)upright in heart.
15 “We are (A)Jews by nature and not (B)sinners from among the Gentiles; 16 nevertheless [a]knowing that (C)a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by (D)faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since (E)by the works of [b]the Law no [c]flesh will be justified. 17 But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found (F)sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? (G)May it never be! 18 For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I (H)prove myself to be a transgressor. 19 For through [d]the Law I (I)died to [e]the Law, so that I might live to God. 20 I have been (J)crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but (K)Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in (L)the Son of God, who (M)loved me and (N)gave Himself up for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for (O)if righteousness comes through [f]the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
36 Now one of the Pharisees was asking Him to eat with him, and He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 (A)And behold, there was a woman in the city who was a [a]sinner. And when she learned that He was reclining at the table in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 And standing behind Him at His feet, crying, she began to wet His feet with her tears. And she kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume. 39 Now when the Pharisee, who had invited Him, saw this, he said to himself, saying, “If this man were (B)a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.”
Parable of Two Debtors
40 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he [b]replied, “Say it, Teacher.” 41 “A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred [c](C)denarii, and the other fifty. 42 When they (D)were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he graciously forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have judged correctly.” 44 And turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you (E)gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You (F)gave Me no kiss; but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet. 46 (G)You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. 47 For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” 48 Then He said to her, “(H)Your sins have been forgiven.” 49 And those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say [d]to themselves, “(I)Who is this man who even forgives sins?” 50 And He said to the woman, “(J)Your faith has saved you; (K)go in peace.”
Many Women Contribute to Jesus’ Ministry
8 And it happened that soon afterward He was going around from one city and village to another, (L)preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with Him, 2 and also (M)some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: (N)Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, (O)Herod’s (P)manager, and Susanna, and many others who were ministering to them from their possessions.
