²⁴ Then Saul said to Samuel, “^(A)I have sinned; ^(B)I have indeed trespassed against the ^[a]command of Yahweh and your words because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

³⁰ Then he said, “I have sinned; ^(A)but please honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel, and return with me, ^(B)that I may worship Yahweh your God.”

¹⁰ Then ^(A)David’s heart struck him after he had counted the people. So David said to Yahweh, “^(B)I have sinned greatly in what I have done. But now, O Yahweh, please ^[a]take away the iniquity of Your slave, for ^(C)I have acted very foolishly.”

¹³ But the tax collector, ^(A)standing some distance away, ^(B)was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but ^(C)was ^[a]beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be ^[b]merciful to me, the sinner!’
