²⁸ Then Absalom commanded his young men, saying, “See now, ^(A)when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then put him to death. Do not fear; have not I myself commanded you? Be strong and be ^[a]valiant.”

¹⁴ Then Joab said, “I will not wait around here before you.” ^(A)So he took three ^[a]spears in his hand and thrust them through the heart of Absalom while he was yet alive in the ^[b]midst of the oak.

²⁵ So King Solomon ^(A)sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him so that he died.
