Deuteronomy 3

Conquests Recounted

(A)Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan, and Og, king of Bashan, [a]with all his people came out to meet us in battle at Edrei. But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; and you shall do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’ So the Lord our God delivered Og also, king of Bashan, with all his people into our hand, and we smote [b]them until no survivor was [c]left. We captured all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of (B)Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates and bars, besides a great many [d]unwalled towns. We [e]utterly destroyed them, as we did to (C)Sihon king of Heshbon, [f](D)utterly destroying [g]the men, women and children of every city. (E)But all the animals and the spoil of the cities we took as our booty.

(F)Thus we took the land at that time from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the [h]valley of Arnon to Mount Hermon (Sidonians (G)call Hermon (H)Sirion, and the Amorites call it (I)Senir): 10 all the cities of the plateau and all Gilead and (J)all Bashan, as far as Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 11 (For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the (K)Rephaim. Behold, his [i]bedstead was an iron [j]bedstead; it is in (L)Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. Its length was nine cubits and its width four cubits [k]by ordinary cubit.)

12 “So we took possession of this land at that time. From (M)Aroer, which is by the [l]valley of Arnon, and half the hill country of (N)Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites. 13 The rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh, all the region of Argob (concerning all Bashan, it is called the land of Rephaim. 14 (O)Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called [m]it, that is, Bashan, after his own name, [n]Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.) 15 (P)To Machir I gave Gilead. 16 To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even as far as the [o]valley of Arnon, the middle of the [p]valley [q]as a border and as far as the [r]river (Q)Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon; 17 the Arabah also, with the Jordan [s]as a border, from [t](R)Chinnereth (S)even as far as the sea of the Arabah, (T)the Salt Sea, [u]at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.

18 “Then I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘(U)The Lord your God has given you this land to possess it; (V)all you valiant men shall cross over armed before your brothers, the sons of Israel. 19 (W)But your wives and your little ones and your livestock (I know that you have (X)much livestock) shall remain in your cities which I have given you, 20 (Y)until the Lord gives rest to your fellow countrymen as to you, and they also possess the land which the Lord your God will give them beyond the Jordan. (Z)Then you may return every man to his possession which I have given you.’ 21 I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so the Lord shall do to all the kingdoms into which you are about to cross. 22 Do not fear them, for the Lord your God (AA)is the one fighting for you.’

23 “I also pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying, 24 ‘O Lord [v]God, You have begun to show Your servant (AB)Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what (AC)god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours? 25 Let me, I pray, cross over and see the (AD)fair land that is beyond the Jordan, [w]that good hill country and Lebanon.’ 26 But (AE)the Lord was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me; and the Lord said to me, ‘[x]Enough! Speak to Me no more of this matter. 27 Go up to the top of (AF)Pisgah and lift up your eyes to the west and north and south and east, and see it with your eyes, (AG)for you shall not cross over this Jordan. 28 (AH)But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, (AI)for he shall go across [y]at the head of this people, and he will give them as an inheritance the land which you will see.’ 29 So we remained in the valley opposite (AJ)Beth-peor.

Psalm 85

Prayer for God’s Mercy upon the Nation.

For the choir director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

85 O Lord, You showed (A)favor to Your land;
You [a](B)restored the captivity of Jacob.
You (C)forgave the iniquity of Your people;
You (D)covered all their sin. [b]Selah.
You (E)withdrew all Your fury;
You (F)turned away from Your burning anger.

(G)Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And (H)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
Will (I)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to [c]all generations?
Will You not Yourself [d](J)revive us again,
That Your people may (K)rejoice in You?
Show us Your lovingkindness, O Lord,
And (L)grant us Your salvation.

[e]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will (M)speak peace to His people, [f]to His godly ones;
But let them not (N)turn back to [g]folly.
Surely (O)His salvation is near to those who [h]fear Him,
That (P)glory may dwell in our land.
10 (Q)Lovingkindness and [i]truth have met together;
(R)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 [j]Truth (S)springs from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 Indeed, (T)the Lord will give what is good,
And our (U)land will yield its produce.
13 (V)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.

Isaiah 31

Help Not in Egypt but in God

31 Woe to those who go down to (A)Egypt for help
And (B)rely on horses,
And trust in chariots because they are many
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But they do not (C)look to the (D)Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!
Yet He also is (E)wise and will (F)bring disaster
And does (G)not retract His words,
But will arise against the house of (H)evildoers
And against the help of the (I)workers of iniquity.
Now the Egyptians are (J)men and not God,
And their (K)horses are flesh and not spirit;
So the Lord will (L)stretch out His hand,
And (M)he who helps will stumble
And he who is helped will fall,
And all of them will come to an end together.

For thus says the Lord to me,

“As the (N)lion or the young lion growls over his prey,
Against which a band of shepherds is called out,
And he will not be terrified at their voice nor disturbed at their noise,
So will the Lord of hosts come down to wage (O)war on Mount Zion and on its hill.”
Like [a]flying (P)birds so the Lord of hosts will protect Jerusalem.
He will (Q)protect and deliver it;
He will pass over and rescue it.

(R)Return to Him from whom [b]you have (S)deeply defected, O sons of Israel. For in that day every man will (T)cast away his silver idols and his gold idols, which your (U)sinful hands have made for you as (V)a sin.

And the (W)Assyrian will fall by a sword not of man,
And a (X)sword not of man will devour him.
So he will [c](Y)not escape the sword,
And his young men will become (Z)forced laborers.
“His (AA)rock will pass away because of panic,
And his princes will be terrified at the (AB)standard,”
Declares the Lord, whose (AC)fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

Revelation 1

The Revelation of Jesus Christ

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which (A)God gave Him to (B)show to His bond-servants, (C)the things which must soon take place; and He sent and [a]communicated it (D)by His angel to His bond-servant (E)John, who testified to (F)the word of God and to (G)the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. (H)Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and [b]heed the things which are written in it; (I)for the time is near.

Message to the Seven Churches

(J)John to (K)the seven churches that are in (L)Asia: (M)Grace to you and peace, from (N)Him who is and who was and who [c]is to come, and from (O)the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, (P)the faithful witness, the (Q)firstborn of the dead, and the (R)ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who (S)loves us and released us from our sins [d]by His blood— and He has made us to be a (T)kingdom, (U)priests to [e](V)His God and Father—(W)to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (X)Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and (Y)every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will (Z)mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

“I am (AA)the Alpha and the Omega,” says the (AB)Lord God, (AC)who is and who was and who [f]is to come, the Almighty.”

The Patmos Vision

(AD)I, John, your (AE)brother and (AF)fellow partaker in the tribulation and (AG)kingdom and [g](AH)perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos (AI)because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was [h](AJ)in the Spirit on (AK)the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice (AL)like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, (AM)Write in a [i]book what you see, and send it to the (AN)seven churches: to (AO)Ephesus and to (AP)Smyrna and to (AQ)Pergamum and to (AR)Thyatira and to (AS)Sardis and to (AT)Philadelphia and to (AU)Laodicea.”

12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw (AV)seven golden lampstands; 13 and (AW)in the middle of the lampstands I saw one (AX)like [j]a son of man, (AY)clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and (AZ)girded across His chest with a golden sash. 14 His head and His (BA)hair were white like white wool, like snow; and (BB)His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 His (BC)feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His (BD)voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held (BE)seven stars, and out of His mouth came a (BF)sharp two-edged sword; and His (BG)face was like (BH)the sun [k]shining in its strength.

17 When I saw Him, I (BI)fell at His feet like a dead man. And He (BJ)placed His right hand on me, saying, (BK)Do not be afraid; (BL)I am the first and the last, 18 and the (BM)living One; and I [l](BN)was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have (BO)the keys of death and of Hades. 19 Therefore (BP)write (BQ)the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place (BR)after these things. 20 As for the (BS)mystery of the (BT)seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the (BU)seven golden lampstands: the (BV)seven stars are the angels of (BW)the seven churches, and the seven (BX)lampstands are the seven churches.
