Bible in 90 Days
Psalm 109[a]
For the music director, a psalm of David.
109 O God whom I praise, do not ignore me.[b]
2 For they say cruel and deceptive things to me;
they lie to me.[c]
3 They surround me and say hateful things;[d]
they attack me for no reason.
4 They repay my love with accusations,[e]
but I continue to pray.[f]
5 They repay me evil for good,[g]
and hate for love.
6 [h] Appoint an evil man to testify against him.[i]
May an accuser stand[j] at his right side.
7 When he is judged, he will be found[k] guilty.[l]
Then his prayer will be regarded as sinful.
8 May his days be few.[m]
May another take his job.[n]
9 May his children[o] be fatherless,
and his wife a widow.
10 May his children[p] roam around begging,
asking for handouts as they leave their ruined home.[q]
11 May the creditor seize[r] all he owns.
May strangers loot his property.[s]
12 May no one show him kindness.[t]
May no one have compassion[u] on his fatherless children.
13 May his descendants[v] be cut off.[w]
May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives.[x]
14 May his ancestors’[y] sins be remembered by the Lord.
May his mother’s sin not be forgotten.[z]
15 May the Lord be constantly aware of them,[aa]
and cut off the memory of his children[ab] from the earth.
16 For he never bothered to show kindness;[ac]
he harassed the oppressed and needy,
and killed the disheartened.[ad]
17 He loved to curse[ae] others, so those curses have come upon him.[af]
He had no desire to bless anyone, so he has experienced no blessings.[ag]
18 He made cursing a way of life,[ah]
so curses poured into his stomach like water
and seeped into his bones like oil.[ai]
19 May a curse attach itself to him, like a garment one puts on,[aj]
or a belt[ak] one wears continually.
20 May the Lord repay my accusers in this way,[al]
those who say evil things about[am] me.[an]
21 O Sovereign Lord,
intervene on my behalf for the sake of your reputation.[ao]
Because your loyal love is good, deliver me.
22 For I am oppressed and needy,
and my heart beats violently within me.[ap]
23 I am fading away like a shadow at the end of the day;[aq]
I am shaken off like a locust.
24 I am so starved my knees shake;[ar]
I have turned into skin and bones.[as]
25 I am disdained by them.[at]
When they see me, they shake their heads.[au]
26 Help me, O Lord my God.
Because you are faithful to me, deliver me.[av]
27 Then they will realize[aw] this is your work,[ax]
and that you, Lord, have accomplished it.
28 They curse, but you will bless.[ay]
When they attack, they will be humiliated,[az]
but your servant will rejoice.
29 My accusers will be covered[ba] with shame,
and draped in humiliation as if it were a robe.
30 I will thank the Lord profusely.[bb]
In the middle of a crowd[bc] I will praise him,
31 because he stands at the right hand of the needy,
to deliver him from those who threaten[bd] his life.
Psalm 110[be]
A psalm of David.
110 Here is the Lord’s proclamation[bf] to my lord:[bg]
“Sit down at my right hand[bh] until I make your enemies your footstool.”[bi]
2 The Lord[bj] extends[bk] your dominion[bl] from Zion.
Rule in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people willingly follow you[bm] when you go into battle.[bn]
On the holy hills[bo] at sunrise[bp] the dew of your youth[bq] belongs to you.[br]
4 The Lord makes this promise on oath[bs] and will not revoke it:[bt]
“You are an eternal priest[bu] after the pattern of[bv] Melchizedek.”[bw]
5 O Lord,[bx] at your right hand
he strikes down[by] kings in the day he unleashes his anger.[bz]
6 He executes judgment[ca] against[cb] the nations.
He fills the valleys with corpses;[cc]
he shatters their heads over the vast battlefield.[cd]
7 From the stream along the road he drinks;
then he lifts up his head.[ce]
Psalm 111[cf]
111 Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the assembly of the godly and the congregation.
2 The Lord’s deeds are great,
eagerly awaited[cg] by all who desire them.
3 His work is majestic and glorious,[ch]
and his faithfulness endures[ci] forever.
4 He does[cj] amazing things that will be remembered;[ck]
the Lord is merciful and compassionate.
5 He gives[cl] food to his faithful followers;[cm]
he always remembers his covenant.[cn]
6 He announced that he would do mighty deeds for his people,
giving them a land that belonged to other nations.[co]
7 His acts are characterized by[cp] faithfulness and justice;
all his precepts are reliable.[cq]
8 They are forever firm,
and should be faithfully and properly carried out.[cr]
9 He delivered his people;[cs]
he ordained that his covenant be observed forever.[ct]
His name is holy and awesome.
10 To obey the Lord is the fundamental principle for wise living;[cu]
all who carry out his precepts acquire good moral insight.[cv]
He will receive praise forever.[cw]
Psalm 112[cx]
112 Praise the Lord!
How blessed is the one[cy] who obeys[cz] the Lord,
who takes great delight in keeping his commands.[da]
2 His descendants[db] will be powerful on the earth;
the godly[dc] will be blessed.
3 His house contains wealth and riches;
his integrity endures.[dd]
4 In the darkness a light[de] shines for the godly,
for each one who is merciful, compassionate, and just.[df]
5 It goes well for the one[dg] who generously lends money,
and conducts his business honestly.[dh]
6 For he will never be shaken;
others will always remember one who is just.[di]
7 He does not fear bad news.
He[dj] is confident; he trusts in the Lord.
8 His resolve[dk] is firm; he will not succumb to fear
before he looks in triumph on his enemies.
9 He generously gives[dl] to the needy;
his integrity endures.[dm]
He will be vindicated and honored.[dn]
10 When the wicked[do] see this, they will worry;
they will grind their teeth in frustration[dp] and melt away.
The desire of the wicked will perish.[dq]
Psalm 113[dr]
113 Praise the Lord.
Praise, you servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord.
2 May the Lord’s name be praised
now and forevermore.
3 From east to west[ds]
the Lord’s name is deserving of praise.
4 The Lord is exalted over all the nations;
his splendor reaches beyond the sky.[dt]
5 Who can compare to the Lord our God,
who sits on a high throne?[du]
6 He bends down to look[dv]
at the sky and the earth.
7 He raises the poor from the dirt,
and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile,[dw]
8 that he might seat him with princes,
with the princes of his people.
9 He makes the barren woman of the family[dx]
a happy mother of children.[dy]
Praise the Lord.
Psalm 114[dz]
114 When Israel left Egypt,
when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,[ea]
2 Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel his kingdom.
3 The sea looked and fled;[eb]
the Jordan River[ec] turned back.[ed]
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.[ee]
5 Why do you flee, O sea?
Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?
6 Why do you skip like rams, O mountains,
like lambs, O hills?
7 Tremble, O earth, before the Lord—
before the God of Jacob,
8 who turned a rock into a pool of water,
a hard rock into springs of water.[ef]
Psalm 115[eg]
115 Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name bring honor,[eh]
for the sake of your loyal love and faithfulness.[ei]
2 Why should the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven.
He does whatever he pleases.[ej]
4 Their[ek] idols are made of silver and gold—
they are man-made.[el]
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see,
6 ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell,
7 hands, but cannot touch,
feet, but cannot walk.
They cannot even clear their throats.[em]
8 Those who make them will end up[en] like them,
as will everyone who trusts in them.
9 O Israel, trust in the Lord.
He is their deliverer[eo] and protector.[ep]
10 O family[eq] of Aaron, trust in the Lord.
He is their deliverer[er] and protector.[es]
11 You loyal followers of the Lord,[et] trust in the Lord.
He is their deliverer[eu] and protector.[ev]
12 The Lord takes notice of us;[ew] he will bless[ex]—
he will bless the family[ey] of Israel,
he will bless the family of Aaron.
13 He will bless his loyal followers,[ez]
both young and old.[fa]
14 May he increase your numbers,
yours and your children’s.[fb]
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Creator[fc] of heaven and earth.
16 The heavens belong to the Lord,[fd]
but the earth he has given to mankind.[fe]
17 The dead do not praise the Lord,
nor do any of those who descend into the silence of death.[ff]
18 But we will praise the Lord
now and forevermore.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 116[fg]
116 I love the Lord
because he heard my plea for mercy,[fh]
2 and listened to me.[fi]
As long as I live, I will call to him when I need help.[fj]
3 The ropes of death tightened around me,[fk]
the snares[fl] of Sheol confronted me.
I was confronted[fm] with trouble and sorrow.
4 I called on the name of the Lord,
“Please, Lord, rescue my life!”
5 The Lord is merciful and fair;
our God is compassionate.
6 The Lord protects[fn] the untrained;[fo]
I was in serious trouble[fp] and he delivered me.
7 Rest once more, my soul,[fq]
for the Lord has vindicated you.[fr]
8 Yes,[fs] Lord,[ft] you rescued my life from death,
kept my eyes from tears
and my feet from stumbling.
9 I will serve[fu] the Lord
in the land[fv] of the living.
10 I had faith when I said,
“I am severely oppressed.”
11 I rashly declared,[fw]
“All men are liars.”
12 How can I repay the Lord
for all his acts of kindness to me?
13 I will celebrate my deliverance,[fx]
and call on the name of the Lord.
14 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
before all his people.
15 The Lord values
the lives of his faithful followers.[fy]
16 Yes, Lord! I am indeed your servant;
I am your servant, the son of your female servant.[fz]
You saved me from death.[ga]
17 I will present a thank offering to you,
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
before all his people,
19 in the courts of the Lord’s temple,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 117[gb]
117 Praise the Lord, all you nations.
Applaud him, all you foreigners.[gc]
2 For his loyal love towers[gd] over us,
and the Lord’s faithfulness endures.
Praise the Lord.
Psalm 118[ge]
118 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
and his loyal love endures.[gf]
2 Let Israel say,
“Yes, his loyal love endures.”
3 Let the family[gg] of Aaron say,
“Yes, his loyal love endures.”
4 Let the loyal followers of the Lord[gh] say,
“Yes, his loyal love endures.”
5 In my distress[gi] I cried out to the Lord.
The Lord answered me and put me in a wide open place.[gj]
6 The Lord is on my side;[gk] I am not afraid.
What can people do to me?[gl]
7 The Lord is on my side[gm] as my helper.[gn]
I look in triumph on those who hate me.
8 It is better to take shelter[go] in the Lord
than to trust in people.
9 It is better to take shelter in the Lord
than to trust in princes.
10 All the nations surrounded me.[gp]
Indeed, in the name of the Lord[gq] I pushed them away.[gr]
11 They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me.
Indeed, in the name of the Lord I pushed them away.
12 They surrounded me like bees.
But they disappeared as quickly[gs] as a fire among thorns.[gt]
Indeed, in the name of the Lord I pushed them away.
13 “You aggressively attacked me[gu] and tried to knock me down,[gv]
but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord gives me strength and protects me;[gw]
he has become my deliverer.”[gx]
15 They celebrate deliverance in the tents of the godly.[gy]
The Lord’s right hand conquers.[gz]
16 The Lord’s right hand gives victory;[ha]
the Lord’s right hand conquers.
17 I will not die, but live,
and I will proclaim what the Lord has done.[hb]
18 The Lord severely[hc] punished me,
but he did not hand me over to death.
19 Open for me the gates of the just king’s temple.[hd]
I will enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the Lord’s gate—
the godly enter through it.
21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me,
and have become my deliverer.
22 The stone that the builders discarded[he]
has become the cornerstone.[hf]
23 This is the Lord’s work.
We consider it amazing![hg]
24 This is the day the Lord has brought about.[hh]
We will be happy and rejoice in it.
25 Please, Lord, deliver!
Please, Lord, grant us success![hi]
26 May the one who comes in the name of the Lord[hj] be blessed.
We will pronounce blessings on you[hk] in the Lord’s temple.[hl]
27 The Lord is God, and he has delivered us.[hm]
Tie the offering[hn] with ropes
to the horns of the altar.[ho]
28 You are my[hp] God, and I will give you thanks.
You are my God and I will praise you.
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good
and his loyal love endures.[hq]

3 who, moreover, do no wrong,
but follow in his footsteps.[hu]
4 You demand that your precepts
be carefully kept.[hv]
5 If only I were predisposed[hw]
to keep your statutes.
6 Then I would not be ashamed,

when I learn your just regulations.

Do not completely abandon me.[ia]

all the regulations you have revealed.[ih]

Those who stray from your commands are doomed.[ix]

Yet I do not turn aside from your law.
52 I remember your ancient regulations,[kp]
O Lord, and console myself.[kq]
53 Rage takes hold of me because of the wicked,
those who reject your law.
54 Your statutes have been my songs[kr]
in the house where I live.[ks]

I do not forget your statutes.
84 How long must your servant endure this?[mf]
When will you judge those who pursue me?
85 The arrogant dig pits to trap me,[mg]
which violates your law.[mh]
86 All your commands are reliable.
I am pursued without reason.[mi] Help me!
87 They have almost destroyed me here on the earth,

Therefore I love your rules.[no]

more than gold, even purest gold.
128 For this reason I carefully follow all your precepts.[nz]
I hate all deceitful actions.[oa]
פ (Pe)

and your servant loves it.
141 I am insignificant and despised,
yet I do not forget your precepts.
142 Your justice endures,[oq]
and your law is reliable.[or]
143 Distress and hardship confront[os] me,
yet I find delight in your commands.
144 Your rules remain just.[ot]
Give me insight so that I can live.[ou]
ק (Qof)
145 I cried out with all my heart, “Answer me, O Lord!
I will observe your statutes.”
146 I cried out to you, “Deliver me,
so that I can keep[ov] your rules.”

I find hope in your word.
148 My eyes anticipate the nighttime hours,
so that I can meditate on your word.
149 Listen to me[ow] because of[ox] your loyal love.
O Lord, revive me, as you typically do.[oy]
150 Those who are eager to do[oz] wrong draw near;
they are far from your law.
151 You are near, O Lord,
and all your commands are reliable.[pa]
152 I learned long ago that
you ordained your rules to last.[pb]
ר (Resh)
153 See my pain and rescue me.
For I do not forget your law.
154 Fight for me[pc] and defend me.[pd]
Revive me with your word.
155 The wicked have no chance for deliverance,[pe]
for they do not seek your statutes.
156 Your compassion is great, O Lord.
Revive me, as you typically do.[pf]
157 The enemies who chase me are numerous.[pg]
Yet I do not turn aside from your rules.
158 I take note of the treacherous and despise them,
because they do not keep your instructions.[ph]
159 See how I love your precepts.
O Lord, revive me with your loyal love.
160 Your instructions are totally reliable;
all your just regulations endure.[pi]
שׂ/שׁ (Sin/Shin)
161 Rulers pursue me for no reason,
yet I am more afraid of disobeying your instructions.[pj]
162 I rejoice in your instructions,
like one who finds much plunder.[pk]
163 I hate and despise deceit;
I love your law.
164 Seven times[pl] a day I praise you
because of your just regulations.
165 Those who love your law are completely secure;[pm]
nothing causes them to stumble.[pn]
166 I hope for your deliverance, O Lord,
and I obey[po] your commands.
167 I keep your rules;
I love them greatly.
168 I keep your precepts and rules,
for you are aware of everything I do.[pp]
ת (Tav)
169 Listen to my cry for help,[pq] O Lord.
Give me insight by your word.
170 Listen to my appeal for mercy.[pr]
Deliver me, as you promised.[ps]
171 May praise flow freely from my lips,
for you teach me your statutes.
172 May my tongue sing about your instructions,[pt]
for all your commands are just.
173 May your hand help me,
for I choose to obey[pu] your precepts.
174 I long for your deliverance, O Lord;
I find delight in your law.
175 May I[pv] live and praise you.
May your regulations help me.[pw]
176 I have wandered off like a lost sheep.[px]
Come looking for your servant,
for I do not forget your commands.
Psalm 120[py]
A song of ascents.[pz]
120 In my distress I cried out
to the Lord and he answered me.
2 I said,[qa] “O Lord, rescue me[qb]
from those who lie with their lips[qc]
and those who deceive with their tongues.[qd]
3 How will he severely punish you,
you deceptive talker?[qe]
4 Here’s how![qf] With the sharp arrows of warriors,
with arrowheads forged over the hot coals.[qg]
5 How miserable I am.[qh]
For I have lived temporarily[qi] in Meshech;
I have resided among the tents of Kedar.[qj]
6 For too long I have had to reside
with those who hate[qk] peace.
7 I am committed to peace,[ql]
but when I speak, they want to make war.[qm]
Psalm 121[qn]
A song of ascents.[qo]
121 I look up[qp] toward the hills.
From where[qq] does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,[qr]
the Creator[qs] of heaven and earth.
3 May he not allow your foot to slip.
May your Protector[qt] not sleep.[qu]
4 Look! Israel’s Protector[qv]
does not sleep or slumber.
5 The Lord is your protector;
the Lord is the shade at your right hand.
6 The sun will not harm you by day,
or the moon by night.[qw]
7 The Lord will protect you from all harm;
he will protect your life.
8 The Lord will protect you in all you do,[qx]
now and forevermore.
Psalm 122[qy]
A song of ascents;[qz] by David.
122 I was glad because[ra] they said to me,
“We will go to the Lord’s temple.”
2 Our feet are[rb] standing
inside your gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is a city designed
to accommodate an assembly.[rc]
4 The tribes go up[rd] there,[re]
the tribes of the Lord,
where it is required that Israel
give thanks to the name of the Lord.[rf]
5 Indeed,[rg] the leaders sit[rh] there on thrones and make legal decisions,
on the thrones of the house of David.[ri]
6 Pray[rj] for the peace of Jerusalem.
May those who love her prosper.[rk]
7 May there be peace inside your defenses,
and prosperity[rl] inside your fortresses.[rm]
8 For the sake of my brothers and my neighbors
I will say, “May there be peace in you.”
9 For the sake of the temple of the Lord our God
I will pray for you to prosper.[rn]
Psalm 123[ro]
A song of ascents.[rp]
123 I look up[rq] toward you,
the one enthroned[rr] in heaven.
2 Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress,[rs]
so our eyes will look to the Lord, our God, until he shows us favor.
3 Show us favor, O Lord, show us favor!
For we have had our fill of humiliation, and then some.[rt]
4 We have had our fill[ru]
of the taunts of the self-assured,
of the contempt of the proud.
Psalm 124[rv]
A song of ascents;[rw] by David.
124 “If the Lord had not been on our side”—
let Israel say this.—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side,
when men attacked us,[rx]
3 they would have swallowed us alive,
when their anger raged against us.
4 The water would have overpowered us;
the current[ry] would have overwhelmed[rz] us.[sa]
5 The raging water
would have overwhelmed us.[sb]
6 The Lord deserves praise,[sc]
for[sd] he did not hand us over as prey to their teeth.
7 We escaped with our lives,[se] like a bird from a hunter’s snare.
The snare broke, and we escaped.
8 Our deliverer is the Lord,[sf]
the Creator[sg] of heaven and earth.
Psalm 125[sh]
A song of ascents.[si]
125 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved and will endure forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
now and forevermore.
3 Indeed,[sj] the scepter of a wicked king[sk] will not settle[sl]
upon the allotted land of the godly.
Otherwise the godly
might do what is wrong.[sm]
4 Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,
to the morally upright.[sn]
5 As for those who are bent on traveling a sinful path,[so]
may the Lord remove them,[sp] along with those who behave wickedly.[sq]
May Israel experience peace.[sr]
Psalm 126[ss]
A song of ascents.[st]
126 When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion,[su]
we thought we were dreaming.[sv]
2 At that time we laughed loudly
and shouted for joy.[sw]
At that time the nations said,[sx]
“The Lord has accomplished great things for these people.”
3 The Lord did indeed accomplish great things for us.
We were happy.
4 O Lord, restore our well-being,
just as the streams in the arid south are replenished.[sy]
5 Those who shed tears as they plant
will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.[sz]
6 The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag[ta] of seed,
will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.[tb]
Psalm 127[tc]
A song of ascents;[td] by Solomon.
127 If the Lord does not build a house,[te]
then those who build it work in vain.
If the Lord does not guard a city,[tf]
then the watchman stands guard in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise early, come home late,
and work so hard for your food.[tg]
Yes,[th] he provides for those whom he loves even when they sleep.[ti]
3 Yes,[tj] sons[tk] are a gift from the Lord;
the fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Sons born during one’s youth
are like arrows in a warrior’s hand.[tl]
5 How blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them.
They will not be put to shame[tm] when they confront[tn] enemies at the city gate.
Psalm 128[to]
A song of ascents.[tp]
128 How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers,[tq]
each one who keeps his commands.[tr]
2 You[ts] will eat what you worked so hard to grow.[tt]
You will be blessed and secure.[tu]
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine[tv]
in the inner rooms of your house;
your children[tw] will be like olive branches,
as they sit all around your table.
4 Yes indeed, the man who fears the Lord
will be blessed in this way.[tx]
5 May the Lord bless you[ty] from Zion,
that you might see[tz] Jerusalem prosper
all the days of your life,
6 and that you might see[ua] your grandchildren.[ub]
May Israel experience peace.[uc]
Psalm 129[ud]
A song of ascents.[ue]
129 “Since my youth they have often attacked me,”
let Israel say.
2 “Since my youth they have often attacked me,
but they have not defeated me.
3 The plowers plowed my back;
they made their furrows long.
4 The Lord is just;
he cut the ropes of the wicked.”[uf]
5 May all who hate Zion
be humiliated and turned back.
6 May they be like the grass on the rooftops,
which withers before one can even pull it up,[ug]
7 which cannot fill the reaper’s hand,
or the lap of the one who gathers the grain.
8 Those who pass by will not say,[uh]
“May you experience the Lord’s blessing!
We pronounce a blessing on you in the name of the Lord.”
Psalm 130[ui]
A song of ascents.[uj]
130 From the deep water[uk] I cry out to you, O Lord.
2 O Lord, listen to me.[ul]
Pay attention to[um] my plea for mercy.
3 If you, O Lord, were to keep track of[un] sins,
O Lord, who could stand before you?[uo]
4 But[up] you are willing to forgive,[uq]
so that you might[ur] be honored.[us]
5 I rely on[ut] the Lord.
I rely on him with my whole being;[uu]
I wait for his assuring word.[uv]
6 I yearn for the Lord,[uw]
more than watchmen do for the morning,
yes, more than watchmen do for the morning.[ux]
7 O Israel, hope in the Lord,
for the Lord exhibits loyal love,[uy]
and is more than willing to deliver.[uz]
8 He will deliver[va] Israel
from all their sins.[vb]
Psalm 131[vc]
A song of ascents,[vd] by David.
131 O Lord, my heart is not proud,
nor do I have a haughty look.[ve]
I do not have great aspirations,
or concern myself with things that are beyond me.[vf]
2 Indeed,[vg] I have calmed and quieted myself[vh]
like a weaned child with its mother;[vi]
I am content like a young child.[vj]
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
now and forevermore!
Psalm 132[vk]
A song of ascents.[vl]
132 O Lord, for David’s sake remember
all his strenuous effort,[vm]
2 and how he made a vow to the Lord,
and swore an oath to the Powerful One of Jacob.
3 He said,[vn] “I will not enter my own home,[vo]
or get into my bed.[vp]
4 I will not allow my eyes to sleep,
or my eyelids to slumber,
5 until I find a place for the Lord,
a fine dwelling place[vq] for the Powerful One of Jacob.”[vr]
6 Look, we heard about it[vs] in Ephrathah;[vt]
we found it in the territory of Jaar.[vu]
7 Let us go to his dwelling place.
Let us worship[vv] before his footstool.
8 Ascend, O Lord, to your resting place,
you and the ark of your strength.
9 May your priests be clothed with integrity.[vw]
May your loyal followers shout for joy.
10 For the sake of David, your servant,
do not reject your chosen king.[vx]
11 The Lord made a reliable promise to David;[vy]
he will not go back on his word.[vz]
He said,[wa] “I will place one of your descendants[wb] on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
and the rules I teach them,
their sons will also sit on your throne forever.”
13 Certainly[wc] the Lord has chosen Zion;
he decided to make it his home.[wd]
14 He said,[we] “This will be my resting place forever;
I will live here, for I have chosen it.[wf]
15 I will abundantly supply what she needs;[wg]
I will give her poor all the food they need.[wh]
16 I will protect her priests,[wi]
and her godly people will shout exuberantly.[wj]
17 There I will make David strong;[wk]
I have determined that my chosen king’s dynasty will continue.[wl]
18 I will humiliate his enemies,[wm]
and his crown will shine.”
Psalm 133[wn]
A song of ascents;[wo] by David.
133 Look! How good and how pleasant it is
when brothers truly live in unity.[wp]
2 It is like fine oil poured on the head,
which flows down the beard[wq]—
Aaron’s beard,
and then flows down his garments.[wr]
3 It is like the dew of Hermon,[ws]
which flows down upon the hills of Zion.[wt]
Indeed,[wu] that is where the Lord has decreed
a blessing will be available—eternal life.[wv]
Psalm 134[ww]
A song of ascents.[wx]
