21 Let (AQ)integrity and uprightness guard me,
For (AR)I hope in You.
22 (AS)Redeem Israel, O God,
Out of all his troubles.
Give Justice to Me, O Yahweh
Of David.
26 (AT)Give justice to me, O Yahweh, for I have (AU)walked in my integrity,
And I have (AV)trusted in Yahweh; (AW)I will not waver.
2 (AX)Test me, O Yahweh, and try me;
(AY)Refine my [i]mind and my heart.
3 For Your (AZ)lovingkindness is before my eyes,
And I have (BA)walked in Your [j]truth.
4 I do not (BB)sit with worthless men,
And I will not go with [k](BC)pretenders.
5 I (BD)hate the assembly of evildoers,
And I will not sit with the wicked.
6 I shall (BE)wash my hands in innocence,
So I will go around (BF)Your altar, O Yahweh,
7 In order to proclaim with the voice of (BG)thanksgiving
And to recount all Your [l]wondrous deeds.
8 O Yahweh, I (BH)love the habitation of Your house
And the place [m]where Your (BI)glory dwells.
9 (BJ)Do not [n]take my soul away along with sinners,
Nor my life with (BK)men of bloodshed,
10 In whose hands is a (BL)wicked scheme,
And whose right hand is full of (BM)bribes.
11 But as for me, I shall (BN)walk in my integrity;
(BO)Redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 (BP)My foot stands on (BQ)level ground;
In the (BR)congregations I shall bless Yahweh.
Yahweh Is My Light and My Salvation
Of David.
27 Yahweh is my (BS)light and my (BT)salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
Yahweh is the [o](BU)strong defense of my life;
(BV)Whom shall I dread?
2 When evildoers came upon me to (BW)devour my flesh,
My adversaries and my enemies, they (BX)stumbled and fell.
3 Though a (BY)host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me,
In this I (BZ)trust.
4 (CA)One thing I have asked from Yahweh, that I shall seek:
That I may (CB)dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life,
To behold (CC)the [p]beauty of Yahweh
And to (CD)inquire in His temple.
5 For in the (CE)day of calamity He will (CF)conceal me in His shelter;
In the secret place of His tent He will (CG)hide me;
He will (CH)lift me up on a rock.
6 And now (CI)my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent (CJ)sacrifices with loud shouts of joy;
I will (CK)sing, and I will sing praises to Yahweh.
7 (CL)Hear, O Yahweh, when I call with my voice,
And be gracious to me and (CM)answer me.
8 On Your behalf my heart says, “(CN)Seek My face,”
“Your face, O Yahweh, (CO)I shall seek.”
9 (CP)Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your slave away in (CQ)anger;
You have been (CR)my help;
(CS)Do not abandon me and do not (CT)forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 [q]For my father and (CU)my mother have forsaken me,
But (CV)Yahweh will take me up.
11 (CW)Instruct me in Your way, O Yahweh,
And lead me in a (CX)level path
Because of [r]my foes.
12 Do not give me over to the [s](CY)desire of my adversaries,
For (CZ)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as (DA)breathe out violence.
13 [t]I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the (DB)goodness of Yahweh
In the (DC)land of the living.
14 (DD)Hope in Yahweh;
Be (DE)strong and let your heart take courage;
Hope in Yahweh.
Yahweh Is My Strength and My Shield
Of David.
28 To You, O Yahweh, I call;
My (DF)rock, do not be silent to me,
Lest if You (DG)are hesitant toward me,
I will become like those who (DH)go down to the pit.
2 Hear the (DI)voice of my supplications when I cry to You for help,
When I (DJ)lift up my hands (DK)toward [u]Your holy (DL)sanctuary.
3 (DM)Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with workers of iniquity,
Who (DN)speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.
4 Give to them (DO)according to their work and according to the evil of their actions;
Give to them according to the deeds of their hands;
Return their dealings upon them.
5 Because they (DP)do not regard the works of Yahweh
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.
6 Blessed be Yahweh,
Because He (DQ)has heard the voice of my supplications.
7 Yahweh is my (DR)strength and my (DS)shield;
My heart (DT)trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore (DU)my heart exults,
And with (DV)my song I shall thank Him.
8 Yahweh is [v]their (DW)strength,
And He is a [w](DX)strong defense of salvation to His anointed.
9 (DY)Save Your people and bless (DZ)Your inheritance;
Be their (EA)shepherd also, and (EB)carry them forever.
The Voice of Yahweh
A Psalm of David.
29 (EC)Ascribe to Yahweh, O [x]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of His name;
Worship Yahweh (ED)in the splendor of holiness.
3 The (EE)voice of Yahweh is upon the waters;
The God of glory (EF)thunders,
Yahweh is over [y](EG)many waters.
4 The voice of Yahweh is (EH)powerful,
The voice of Yahweh is full of splendor.
5 The voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars;
Indeed, Yahweh breaks in pieces (EI)the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon (EJ)skip like a calf,
And (EK)Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of Yahweh hews out [z]flames of fire.
8 The voice of Yahweh causes the wilderness to tremble;
Yahweh causes the wilderness of (EL)Kadesh to tremble.
9 The voice of Yahweh makes (EM)the deer to calve
And strips the forests bare;
And (EN)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”
10 Yahweh sat enthroned over the (EO)flood;
Indeed, Yahweh sits as (EP)King forever.
11 [aa]Yahweh will give (EQ)strength to His people;
[ab]Yahweh will bless His people with (ER)peace.
You Have Turned My Mourning into Dancing
A Psalm. A Song at the Dedication of the House. Of David.
30 I will (ES)exalt You, O Yahweh, for You have (ET)lifted me up,
And have not let my (EU)enemies be glad over me.
2 O Yahweh my God,
I (EV)cried to You for help, and You (EW)healed me.
3 O Yahweh, You have (EX)brought up my soul from Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [ac]that I would not (EY)go down to the pit.
4 (EZ)Sing praise to Yahweh, you (FA)His holy ones,
And (FB)give thanks for the (FC)remembrance of His holy name.
5 For (FD)His anger is but for a moment,
His (FE)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (FF)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
6 Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (FG)never be shaken.”
7 O Yahweh, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (FH)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
8 To You, O Yahweh, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my blood, if I (FI)go down to the pit?
Will the (FJ)dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?
10 “(FK)Hear, O Yahweh, and be gracious to me;
O Yahweh, be my (FL)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (FM)my mourning into dancing;
You have (FN)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (FO)gladness,
12 That my [ad](FP)glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Yahweh my God, I will (FQ)give thanks to You forever.
Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
31 (FR)In You, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge;
Let me never (FS)be ashamed;
(FT)In Your righteousness protect me.
2 (FU)Incline Your ear to me, deliver me quickly;
Be to me a (FV)rock of [ae]strength,
A fortress to save me.
3 For You are my [af](FW)high rock and my fortress;
For (FX)Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.
4 You will (FY)bring me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my (FZ)strength.
5 (GA)Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have (GB)ransomed me, O Yahweh, (GC)God of truth.
6 I hate those who (GD)regard worthless idols,
But I (GE)trust in Yahweh.
7 I will (GF)rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness,
Because You have (GG)seen my affliction;
You have known the troubles of my soul,
8 And You have not (GH)given me over into the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a large place.
9 Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, for (GI)I am in distress;
My (GJ)eye is wasted away from grief, (GK)my soul and [ag]my body also.
10 For my life is worn down with (GL)sorrow
And my years with sighing;
My (GM)strength fails because of my iniquity,
And (GN)my bones waste away.
11 Among all my adversaries, I have become a (GO)reproach,
Especially to my (GP)neighbors,
And an object of dread to my acquaintances;
Those who see me in the street flee from me.
12 I am (GQ)forgotten like a dead man—out of [ah]mind—
I am like a broken vessel.
13 For I have heard [ai](GR)the bad report of many,
(GS)Terror is on every side;
While they (GT)took counsel together against me,
They (GU)schemed to take my life.
14 But as for me, I trust in You, O Yahweh,
I say, “(GV)You are my God.”
15 My (GW)times are in Your hand;
(GX)Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue me.
16 Make Your (GY)face to shine upon Your slave;
(GZ)Save me in Your lovingkindness.
17 O Yahweh, let me not be (HA)put to shame, for I call upon You;
Let the (HB)wicked be put to shame, let them (HC)be silent in Sheol.
18 Let the (HD)lying lips be mute,
Which (HE)speak arrogantly against the righteous
With lofty pride and contempt.
19 How great is Your (HF)goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have worked for those who (HG)take refuge in You,
(HH)Before the sons of men!
20 You hide them in the (HI)secret place of Your presence from the (HJ)conspiracies of man;
You keep them secretly in a [aj]shelter from the (HK)strife of tongues.
21 (HL)Blessed be Yahweh,
For He has made (HM)marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a besieged (HN)city.
22 As for me, (HO)I said in my alarm,
“I am (HP)cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless, You (HQ)heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried to You for help.
23 Oh, love Yahweh, all you (HR)His holy ones!
Yahweh (HS)guards the faithful
But (HT)repays fully the one who acts in lofty pride.
24 (HU)Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who wait for Yahweh.
You Forgave the Iniquity of My Sin
Of David. A [ak]Maskil.
32 (HV)How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
2 How blessed is the man whose iniquity Yahweh (HW)will not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (HX)no deceit!
3 When (HY)I kept silent about my sin, (HZ)my [al]bones wasted away
Through my [am](IA)groaning all day long.
4 For day and night (IB)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [an](IC)vitality was drained away as with the heat of summer. [ao]Selah.
5 I (ID)acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I (IE)did not cover up;
I said, “(IF)I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;”
And You (IG)forgave the [ap]iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 Therefore, let every holy one pray to You [aq](IH)at a time when You may be found;
Surely (II)in a flood of great waters they will not reach him.
7 You are (IJ)my hiding place; You (IK)guard me from trouble;
You surround me with [ar](IL)songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will (IM)give you insight and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you (IN)with My eye upon you.
9 Do not be (IO)as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose harness are bit and bridle to control them,
Otherwise they will not come near you.
10 Many are the (IP)sorrows of the wicked,
But (IQ)he who trusts in Yahweh, lovingkindness shall surround him.
11 Be (IR)glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (IS)upright in heart.
Yahweh Is Our Help and Our Shield
33 (IT)Sing for joy in Yahweh, O righteous ones;
Praise is (IU)becoming to the upright.
2 Give thanks to Yahweh with the (IV)lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a (IW)harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to Him a (IX)new song;
Play skillfully with (IY)a loud shout.
4 For the word of Yahweh (IZ)is upright,
And all His work is done (JA)in faithfulness.
5 He (JB)loves righteousness and justice;
The (JC)earth is full of the lovingkindness of Yahweh.
6 By the (JD)word of Yahweh the heavens were made,
And (JE)by the breath of His mouth (JF)all their host.
7 He gathers the (JG)waters of the sea [as]as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
8 Let (JH)all the earth fear Yahweh;
Let all the inhabitants of the world (JI)stand in awe of Him.
9 For (JJ)He spoke, and it was;
He commanded, and it [at]stood.
10 Yahweh (JK)nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the thoughts of the peoples.
11 The (JL)counsel of Yahweh stands forever,
The (JM)thoughts of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the (JN)nation whose God is Yahweh,
The people whom He has (JO)chosen for His own inheritance.
13 Yahweh (JP)looks from heaven;
He (JQ)sees all the sons of men;
14 From (JR)the place of His habitation He gazes
On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who (JS)forms [au]the hearts of them all,
He who (JT)understands all their works.
16 (JU)The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A (JV)horse is a false hope for salvation;
Nor does it provide escape to anyone by its great strength.
18 Behold, (JW)the eye of Yahweh is on those who fear Him,
On those who (JX)wait for His lovingkindness,
19 To (JY)deliver their soul from death
And to keep them alive (JZ)in famine.
20 Our soul (KA)is patient for Yahweh;
He is our (KB)help and our shield.
21 For our (KC)heart is glad in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
22 Let Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, be upon us,
As we wait for You.

Yahweh Be Magnified
Of David.
35 Contend, O Yahweh, with those who (LR)contend with me;
Fight against those who (LS)fight against me.
2 Take hold of [ba](LT)shield and large shield
And rise up for (LU)my help.
3 Draw also the spear and [bb]the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me;

Who delivers the afflicted from him (MJ)who is too strong for him,
And (MK)the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?”
11 (ML)Malicious witnesses rise up,
Who ask me of things that I do not know.
12 They (MM)repay me evil for good,
It is bereavement to my soul.
13 But as for me, (MN)when they were sick, my (MO)clothing was sackcloth;

And my (MQ)prayer kept returning to my bosom.
14 I walked about as though it were my friend or brother;
I (MR)bowed down [be]mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.
15 But (MS)at my [bf]stumbling they were glad and gathered themselves together;
The [bg](MT)smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me,
They (MU)tore at me and never were silent.
16 Amongst the godless jesters at a feast,
They (MV)gnashed at me with their teeth.
17 Lord, (MW)how long will You look on?
Bring back my soul (MX)from their ravages,
My (MY)only life from the lions.
18 I will (MZ)give You thanks in the great assembly;
I will (NA)praise You among a mighty people.
19 (NB)Let those who are wrongfully (NC)my enemies not be glad over me;
Nor let those (ND)who hate me without cause [bh](NE)wink maliciously.
20 For they do not speak peace,
But they devise (NF)deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
21 They (NG)opened their mouth wide against me;
They said, “(NH)Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it!”
22 (NI)You have seen it, O Yahweh, (NJ)do not keep silent;
O Lord, (NK)do not be far from me.
23 (NL)Stir up Yourself, and awake to my justice
And to my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 (NM)Judge me, O Yahweh my God, according to Your righteousness,
And (NN)do not let them be glad over me.
25 Do not let them say in their heart, “(NO)Aha, our desire!”
Do not let them say, “We have (NP)swallowed him up!”
26 Let (NQ)those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who are glad at the evil done to me;
Let those be (NR)clothed with shame and dishonor who (NS)magnify themselves over me.
27 Let them (NT)shout for joy and be glad, who delight in (NU)my righteousness;
And (NV)let them say continually, “Yahweh be magnified,

And discipline me not in Your burning anger.
2 For Your (RV)arrows have pressed deep into me,
And (RW)Your hand has pressed down upon me.
3 There is (RX)no soundness in my flesh (RY)because of Your indignation;
There is no health (RZ)in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my (SA)iniquities go over my head;
As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
5 My [cb]wounds stink and rot
Because of (SB)my [cc]folly.
6 I am bent over and (SC)greatly bowed down;
I (SD)go mourning all day long.
7 For my loins are filled with (SE)burning,
And there is (SF)no soundness in my flesh.
8 I am (SG)faint and [cd]badly crushed;
I [ce](SH)groan because of the [cf]agitation of my heart.
9 Lord, all (SI)my desire is [cg]before You;
And my (SJ)sighing is not hidden from You.
10 My heart throbs, (SK)my strength forsakes me;
And the (SL)light of my eyes, even [ch]that [ci]has gone from me.
11 My [cj](SM)loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague;
And my kinsmen (SN)stand afar off.
12 Those who (SO)search for my life (SP)lay snares for me;
And those who (SQ)seek [ck]to do me evil have [cl]threatened destruction,
And they (SR)meditate on deception all day long.
13 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear;
And I am like a (SS)mute man who does not open his mouth.
14 And I am like a man who does not hear,
And in whose mouth are no reproofs.
15 For (ST)I [cm]wait on You, O Yahweh;
You (SU)will answer, O Lord my God.
16 For I said, “Save, lest they be glad over me,
Who, when my foot stumbles, (SV)magnify themselves against me.”
17 For I am (SW)ready to fall,
And (SX)my [cn]sorrow is continually before me.
18 For I [co](SY)confess my iniquity;
I am full of (SZ)anxiety because of my sin.
19 But my (TA)enemies are vigorous and [cp]strong,
And those who wrongfully (TB)hate me abound.
20 And those who (TC)repay evil for good,
They (TD)accuse me, for I pursue what is good.
21 Do not forsake me, O Yahweh;
O my God, (TE)do not be far from me!
22 Make (TF)haste to help me,
O Lord, (TG)my salvation!
Yahweh, Make Me Know My End
For the choir director. For [cq]Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
39 I said, “I will (TH)keep watch over my ways
That I (TI)may not sin with my tongue;
I will keep watch over (TJ)my mouth as with a muzzle
While the wicked are in my presence.”
2 I was (TK)mute with silence,
I even kept silent from speaking good,
And my anguish grew worse.
3 My (TL)heart was hot within me,
While I meditated the fire was burning;
Then I spoke with my tongue:
4 “Yahweh, cause me to know (TM)my end
And what is the extent of my days;
Let me know how (TN)transient I am.
5 Behold, You have made (TO)my days as [cr]handbreadths,
And my (TP)lifetime as nothing before You;
Surely every man, even standing firm, is [cs]altogether (TQ)vanity. [ct]Selah.
6 Surely every man (TR)walks about as [cu]a shadow;
Surely they make an (TS)uproar in vain;
He (TT)piles up riches and does not know who will gather them.
7 “And now, Lord, what do I hope in?
My (TU)expectation is in You.
8 (TV)Deliver me from all my transgressions;
Make me not the (TW)reproach of the wicked fool.
9 I have become (TX)mute, I do not open my mouth,
Because it is (TY)You who have done it.
10 (TZ)Remove Your plague from me;
Because of (UA)the opposition of Your hand I am wasting away.
11 With (UB)reproofs You chasten a man for iniquity;
You (UC)consume as a moth what is precious to him;
Surely (UD)every man is vanity. Selah.
12 “(UE)Hear my prayer, O Yahweh, and give ear to my cry for help;
Do not be silent (UF)at my tears;
For I am (UG)a sojourner with You,
A (UH)foreign resident like all my fathers.
13 (UI)Turn Your gaze away from me, that I may [cv]smile again
Before I go and am no more.”
The One Who Rescues Me
For the choir director. Of David. A Psalm.
40 I (UJ)hoped [cw]earnestly for Yahweh;
And He inclined to me and (UK)heard my cry for help.
2 He brought me up out of the (UL)pit of destruction, out of the [cx]miry clay,
And (UM)He set my feet upon a high rock, (UN)He established my steps.
3 He put a (UO)new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will (UP)see and fear
And will trust in Yahweh.
4 How (UQ)blessed is the man who has made Yahweh his trust,
And (UR)has not [cy]turned to the proud, nor to those who (US)stray into falsehood.
5 Many, O Yahweh my God, are (UT)the wondrous deeds You have done,
And Your (UU)thoughts toward us;
There is none to compare with You.
I would declare and speak of them,
But they (UV)are too numerous to recount.
6 [cz](UW)Sacrifice and meal offering [da]You have not desired;
My ears You have [db]opened;
Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is [dc]written of me.
8 (UX)I desire to do Your will, O my God;
(UY)Your law is within my inner being.”
9 I (UZ)proclaim good news of righteousness in the great assembly;
Behold, I do (VA)not restrain my lips,
O Yahweh, (VB)You know.
10 I do (VC)not conceal Your righteousness within my heart;
I (VD)speak of Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I do not hide Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great assembly.
11 You, O Yahweh, will not withhold Your compassion from me;
[dd]Your (VE)lovingkindness and Your truth will continually guard me.
12 For evils beyond number have (VF)surrounded me;
My (VG)iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see;
They are (VH)more numerous than the hairs of my head,
And my (VI)heart has [de]failed me.
13 (VJ)Be pleased, O Yahweh, to deliver me;
Make (VK)haste, O Yahweh, to help me.
14 Let those be (VL)ashamed and humiliated together
Who (VM)seek my [df]life to sweep it away;
Let those be turned back and dishonored
Who delight in [dg]evil against me.
15 Let those (VN)be [dh]appalled because of their shame
Who (VO)say to me, “Aha, aha!”
16 (VP)Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
Let those who love Your salvation (VQ)say continually,
“Yahweh be magnified!”
17 As for me, (VR)I am afflicted and needy,
[di](VS)May the Lord think of me.
You are my help and the One who rescues me;
Do not delay, O my God.
O Yahweh, Be Gracious to Me
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
41 How blessed is he who (VT)considers the [dj]poor;
Yahweh will provide him escape (VU)in a day of [dk]calamity.
2 Yahweh will (VV)keep him and keep him alive,
And he shall be (VW)blessed upon the earth;
And (VX)do not give him over to the desire of his enemies.
3 Yahweh will sustain him upon his sickbed;
In his illness, You [dl]restore him to health.
4 As for me, I said, “O Yahweh, be gracious to me;
(VY)Heal my soul, for (VZ)I have sinned against You.”
5 My enemies (WA)speak evil against me,
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
6 And [dm]when he comes to see me, he (WB)speaks [dn]worthlessness;
His heart gathers wickedness to itself;
When he goes outside, he speaks it.
7 All who hate me whisper together against me;
Against me, they (WC)devise for me [do]calamity, saying,
8 “A vile thing is poured out [dp]upon him,
That when he lies down, he will (WD)not rise up again.”
9 Even my (WE)close friend in whom I trusted,
Who ate my bread,
Has lifted up his heel against me.
10 But You, O Yahweh, be gracious to me and (WF)raise me up,
That I may repay them.
11 By this I know that (WG)You delight in me,
Because (WH)my enemy makes no shout in triumph over me.
12 As for me, (WI)You uphold me in my integrity,
And You make me (WJ)stand firm in Your presence forever.
13 (WK)Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
From everlasting to everlasting.
Amen and Amen.
BOOK 2
My Soul Thirsts for God
For the choir director. A [dq]Maskil of the sons of Korah.
42 As the deer [dr]pants for the water brooks,
So my soul [ds](WL)pants for You, O God.
2 My soul (WM)thirsts for God, for the (WN)living God;
When shall I come and [dt](WO)appear before God?
3 My (WP)tears have been my food day and night,
While they (WQ)say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember and I (WR)pour out my soul within me.
For I (WS)used to go along with the throng and [du]lead them in procession to the house of God,
With the sound of a (WT)shout of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.
5 (WU)Why are you [dv](WV)in despair, O my soul?
And why are you (WW)disturbed within me?
(WX)Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
[dw]For the [dx](WY)salvation of His presence.
6 O my God, my soul is [dy]in despair within me;
Therefore I (WZ)remember You from (XA)the land of the Jordan
And the [dz]peaks of (XB)Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your (XC)breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
8 By day, Yahweh will (XD)command His lovingkindness;
And (XE)by night, His song will be with me,
A prayer to (XF)the God of my life.
9 I say to God (XG)my rock, “Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go (XH)mourning [ea]because of the (XI)oppression of the enemy?”
10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries reproach me,
While they (XJ)say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11 (XK)Why are you [eb]in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
The salvation of my presence and my God.
Send Out Your Light and Your Truth
43 (XL)Give justice to me, O God, and (XM)plead my case against an unholy nation;
[ec]Oh protect me from (XN)the deceitful and unrighteous man!
2 For You are the (XO)God of my strength; why have You (XP)rejected me?
Why do I go (XQ)mourning [ed]because of the oppression of the enemy?
3 Oh send out Your (XR)light and Your truth, let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your (XS)holy mountain
And to Your (XT)dwelling places.
4 Then I will go to (XU)the altar of God,
To God [ee]my exceeding (XV)joy;
And upon the (XW)lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.
5 (XX)Why are you [ef]in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
The salvation of my presence and my God.
Rise Up, Be Our Help
For the choir director. Of the sons of Korah. A [eg]Maskil.
44 O God, we have heard with our ears,
Our (XY)fathers have recounted to us
The (XZ)work that You did in their days,
In the (YA)days of old.
2 You with Your own hand (YB)dispossessed the nations;
Then You (YC)planted them;
You (YD)afflicted the peoples,
Then You (YE)cast them out.
3 For by their own sword they (YF)did not possess the land,
And their own arm did not save them,
But Your right hand and Your (YG)arm and the (YH)light of Your presence,
For You (YI)favored them.
4 You are (YJ)my King, O God;
(YK)Command [eh]salvation for Jacob.
5 Through You we will (YL)push back our adversaries;
Through Your name we will (YM)tread down those who rise up against us.
6 For I will (YN)not trust in my bow,
And my sword will not save me.
7 But You (YO)have saved us from our adversaries,
And You have (YP)put to shame those who hate us.
8 In God we have (YQ)boasted all day long,
And we will (YR)give thanks to Your name forever. [ei]Selah.
9 Yet You (YS)have rejected us and brought us to (YT)dishonor,
And (YU)do not go out with our armies.
10 You cause us to (YV)turn back from the adversary;
And those who hate us (YW)have plundered us for themselves.
11 You give us as (YX)sheep [ej]to be eaten
And have (YY)scattered us among the nations.
12 You (YZ)sell Your people [ek]for no amount,
And You have not [el]profited from their price.
13 You make us a (ZA)reproach to our neighbors,
A mockery and a (ZB)derision to those around us.
14 You make us (ZC)a byword among the nations,
A [em](ZD)laughingstock among the peoples.
15 All day long my dishonor is before me
And [en]the (ZE)shame of my face has covered me,
16 Because of the voice of him who (ZF)reproaches and reviles,
Because of the presence of the (ZG)enemy and the avenger.
17 All this has come upon us, but we have (ZH)not forgotten You,
And we have not (ZI)dealt falsely with Your covenant.
18 Our heart has not (ZJ)turned back,
Nor have our steps (ZK)deviated from Your path,
19 Yet You have (ZL)crushed us in a place of (ZM)jackals
And covered us with (ZN)the shadow of death.
20 If we had (ZO)forgotten the name of our God
Or spread our [eo]hands to (ZP)a strange god,
21 Would not God (ZQ)find this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
22 But (ZR)for Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are counted as (ZS)sheep for the slaughter.
23 (ZT)Arouse Yourself, why (ZU)do You sleep, O Lord?
Awake, (ZV)do not reject us forever.
24 Why do You (ZW)hide Your face
And (ZX)forget our affliction and our oppression?
25 For our (ZY)soul has sunk down into the dust;
Our [ep]body cleaves to the earth.
26 (ZZ)Rise up, be our help,
And (AAA)redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness.
Your Throne, O God, Is Forever
For the choir director. According to [eq]Shoshannim. Of the sons of Korah. A [er]Maskil. A Song of Love.
45 My heart [es]overflows with a good theme;
I [et]address my [eu]verses to the [ev]King;
My tongue is the pen of (AAB)a skillful scribe.
2 You are fairer than the sons of men;
(AAC)Grace is poured [ew]upon Your lips;
Therefore God has (AAD)blessed You forever.
3 Gird (AAE)Your sword on Your thigh, O [ex](AAF)Mighty One,
In Your splendor and Your majesty!
4 And in Your majesty ride on victoriously,
For the cause of truth and (AAG)meekness and righteousness;
Let Your (AAH)right hand teach You [ey]awesome things.
5 Your (AAI)arrows are sharp;
The (AAJ)peoples fall under You;
Your arrows are (AAK)in the heart of the King’s enemies.
6 (AAL)Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of (AAM)uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
7 You have (AAN)loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
Therefore God, Your God, has (AAO)anointed You
With the oil of joy above Your companions.
8 All Your garments are fragrant with (AAP)myrrh and aloes and cassia;
Out of ivory palaces (AAQ)stringed instruments have made You glad.
9 Kings’ daughters are among (AAR)Your noble ladies;
At Your (AAS)right hand stands the queen in (AAT)gold from Ophir.
10 Listen, O daughter, give attention and incline your ear:
(AAU)Forget your people and your father’s house;
11 Then the King will desire your beauty.
Because He is your (AAV)Lord, (AAW)bow down to Him.
12 The daughter of (AAX)Tyre will come with a present;
The (AAY)rich among the people will seek your favor.
