“^(A)Has Yahweh as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of Yahweh?
Behold, ^(B)to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.

^20 (A)For what purpose does ^(B)frankincense come to Me from Sheba
And the ^[a](C)sweet cane from a distant land?
^(D)Your burnt offerings are not acceptable,
And your sacrifices are not pleasing to Me.”

^6 (A)With what shall I come before Yahweh
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come before Him with ^(B)burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
⁷ Is Yahweh pleased with ^(C)thousands of rams,
With ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my ^(D)firstborn for my transgression,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
⁸ He has ^(E)told you, O man, what is good;
And ^(F)what does Yahweh require of you
But to ^(G)do justice, to ^(H)love lovingkindness,
And to walk ^[a](I)humbly with your God?

“^(B)Sacrifice and offering You have not desired,
But ^(C)a body You have prepared for Me;
^6 (D)In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have taken no pleasure.
^7 (E)Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come,
In ^(F)the scroll of the book it is written of Me,
To do Your will, O God.’”
