[a](A)Sacrifice and meal offering [b]You have not desired;
My ears You have [c]opened;
Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required.
Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is [d]written of me.
(B)I desire to do Your will, O my God;
(C)Your law is within my inner being.”

16 For You (A)do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering.

A broken and a [a]contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

  1. Psalm 51:17 Lit crushed

11 (A)What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me?”
Says Yahweh.
“I [a]have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fed cattle;
And in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats [b]I take no pleasure.
12 When you come (B)to appear before Me,
Who requires [c]of you this trampling of My courts?
13 Bring your worthless offerings no longer,
(C)Incense is an abomination to Me.
(D)New moon and sabbath, the (E)calling of convocation—
I cannot (F)endure wickedness and the solemn assembly.
14 My soul hates your new moon festivals and your (G)appointed times,
They have become a burden to Me;
I am (H)weary of bearing them.
15 So when you (I)spread out your hands in prayer,
(J)I will hide My eyes from you;
Indeed, even though you (K)multiply prayers,
I will not listen.
(L)Your hands are full of blood.

What Yahweh Requires

(A)With what shall I come before Yahweh
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come before Him with (B)burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
Is Yahweh pleased with (C)thousands of rams,
With ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my (D)firstborn for my transgression,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has (E)told you, O man, what is good;
And (F)what does Yahweh require of you
But to (G)do justice, to (H)love lovingkindness,
And to walk [a](I)humbly with your God?

(A)In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have taken no pleasure.
(B)Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come,
In (C)the scroll of the book it is written of Me,
To do Your will, O God.’”

After saying above, “(D)Sacrifices and offerings and (E)burnt offerings and sacrifices (F)for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), then He [a]said, “(G)Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second.
