²² For I did not ^(A)speak to your fathers or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. ²³ But this is ^[a]what I commanded them, saying, ‘^(B)Listen to My voice, and ^(C)I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in the entire way which I command you, that it may ^(D)be well with you.’

⁷ But if you had known what this ^[a]means, ‘^(A)I desire ^[b]compassion, and not a sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.

^33 (A)and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as himself, ^(B)is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
