Psalm 51

51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness. According to the multitude of Your compassions, put away my iniquities.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity; and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my iniquities; and my sin is ever before me.

Against You, against You only, have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be just when You speak and pure when You judge.

Behold, I was born in iniquity; and in sin my mother conceived me.

Behold, You love truth to the core. Therefore, You have taught me wisdom in my core.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear joy and gladness; so that the bones which You have broken may rejoice.

Hide Your Face from my sins; and put away all my iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me away from Your presence; and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation; and establish me with Your free Spirit.

13 Then I shall teach Your ways to the wicked; and sinners shall be converted to You.

14 Deliver me from blood, O God, the God of my salvation; and my tongue shall sing joyfully of Your righteousness.

15 Open my lips, O LORD, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.

16 For You desire no sacrifice, though I would give it. You do not delight in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a contrite spirit. A contrite and a broken heart, O God, You will not despise.

18 Be favorable to Zion for Your good pleasure. Build the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shall You accept the sacrifices of righteousness, the burnt offering and oblation. Then shall they offer calves upon Your altar. To him who excels: A Psalm of David to give instruction, when Doeg the Edomite came and showed Saul and said to him, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”

Psalm 69:1-23

69 Save me, O God, for the waters have entered even to my soul.

I sink in the deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, and the streams run over me.

I am weary from crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who would destroy me, and are wrongfully my enemies, are mighty. Thus, I restored that which I did not take.

O God, You know my foolishness, and my faults are not hidden from You.

Do not let those who trust in You, O LORD God of Hosts, be ashamed because of me. Do not let those who seek You be confounded through me, O God of Israel.

For Your sake I have suffered reproach; shame has covered my face.

I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons.

For the zeal of Your House has eaten me, and the rebukes of those who rebuked You have fallen upon me.

10 I wept and my soul fasted; but that was to my reproach.

11 I put on sackcloth also; and I became a proverb to them.

12 Those who sit in the gate speak of me; and I am the song of the drunkards.

13 But LORD, I make my prayer to You in an acceptable time, in the multitude of Your mercy. O God, hear me in the truth of Your salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, so that I do not sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Do not let the flood water drown me or let the deep swallow me up; and do not let the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good! Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.

17 And do not hide Your face from Your servant, for I am in trouble. Hear me quickly.

18 Draw near to my soul and redeem it. Deliver me because of my enemies.

19 You have known my reproach and my shame and my dishonor. All my adversaries are before You.

20 Rebuke has broken my heart and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to have pity, but there was no one; and for comforters, but I found none.

21 For they gave Me gall in My food; and in My thirst they gave Me vinegar to drink.

22 Let their table be a snare before them, and their prosperity their ruin.

23 Let their eyes be blinded, so that they do not see; and make their loins tremble always.

Jeremiah 12:1-16

12 O LORD, if I dispute with You, You are righteous. Yet, let me talk with You of judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those wealthy who rebelliously transgress?

You have planted them, and they have taken root. They grow and bring forth fruit. You are near in their mouth, and far from their core.

But You, LORD, know me. You have seen me and tried my heart toward You. Pull them out, like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of those who dwell in them? The beasts are consumed, and the birds, because they said, “He will not see our last end.”

“If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you match yourself with horses? And if you thought yourself safe in a peaceable land, what will you do in the swelling of Jordan?

“For even your brethren and the House of your father, even they have dealt unfaithfully with you. And they have cried out altogether upon you. Do not believe them, though they speak good things to you.

“I have forsaken My House. I have left My heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of My Soul into the hands of her enemies.

“My heritage is to Me as a lion in the forest. It cries out against Me. Therefore, I have hated it.

“Shall My heritage be to Me as a bird of diverse colors? Are not the birds around her saying, ‘Come, assemble all the beasts of the field. Come to eat her’?

10 “Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard and trampled My portion under foot. They have made a desolate wilderness of My pleasant portion.

11 “They have laid it waste. And it, being waste, mourns to Me. The whole land lies waste because no man sets his mind on it.

12 “The destroyers have come upon all the high places in the wilderness. For the sword of the LORD shall devour. From one end of the land to the other end of the land, no flesh shall have peace.

13 “They have sown wheat and reaped thorns. They were sick and had no profit. And they were ashamed of your fruits because of the fierce wrath of the LORD.”

14 Thus says the LORD: “Against all My evil neighbors who touch the inheritance which I have caused My people Israel to inherit, behold, I will pluck them out of their land and pluck out the House of Judah from among them.

15 “And after I have plucked them out, I will return and have compassion on them, and will bring back every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

16 “And if they will learn the ways of My people, to swear by My Name, ‘The LORD lives’ (as they taught My people to swear by Baal), then they shall be built in the midst of My people.

Philippians 3:1-14

Moreover, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It does not trouble me to write the same things to you. And for you it is certain.

Beware of dogs. Beware of evil workers. Beware of the concision.

For we are the circumcision. We worship God in the Spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh,

though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks that he might have confidence in the flesh, more so I—

circumcised the eighth day; of the kindred of Israel; of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; by the Law, a Pharisee.

Concerning zeal, I persecuted the Church. According to righteousness (which is in the Law), I had become blameless.

But whatever things that were gain to me, the same I have counted as loss for Christ’s sake.

Indeed, also, I count all things but loss for the sake of the surpassing knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for Whom I have counted all things loss and judge them to be garbage, so that I may gain Christ

and be found in Him—that is, not having my own righteousness (which is of the Law) but that which is through faith in Christ (the righteousness which is from God by faith) —

10 so that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering and be conformed to His death

11 (if by any means I might attain to the resurrection from the dead).

12 Not that I have already attained to it or been perfected. But I follow so that I may seize that for which I also was seized by Christ Jesus.

13 Brothers, I do not count myself as having seized it. But one thing I do: I forget that which is behind and stretch forward toward that which is ahead;

14 and follow hard toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

John 12:9-19

Then many of the Jews knew that He was there. And they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom He had raised from the dead.

10 Therefore, the chief priests consulted, so that they might put Lazarus to death also,

11 because many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus because of him.

12 The next day, a great multitude who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus would come to Jerusalem,

13 took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet Him, and cried, “Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel Who comes in the Name of the Lord!”

14 And Jesus found a young donkey, and sat on it, as it is written,

15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

16 His disciples did not understand these things at the first. But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him. And that they had done these things to Him.

17 Therefore, the people who were with Him bore witness that He called Lazarus out of the grave and raised him from the dead.

18 Thus, the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this miracle.

19 And the Pharisees said among themselves, “Do you see how nothing is better? Behold, the world goes after Him.”
