Psalm 85

To the Overcomer, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.

¶ LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land; thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people; thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

Thou hast taken away all thy wrath; thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

Turn us, O God our saving health and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou extend thine anger from generation to generation?

Wilt thou not give us life again that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Show us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy saving health.

¶ I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace unto his people and to his saints, that they not turn again to folly.

Surely his saving health is near those that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from the heavens.

12 The LORD shall give that which is good, and our land shall bring forth her fruit.

13 Righteousness shall go before him and shall set his steps in the way.

Psalm 87

A Psalm or Song for the sons of Korah.

¶ His foundation is in mountains of holiness.

The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.

¶ I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those that know me; behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this one was born there.

And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man were born in her; and the highest himself shall establish her.

The LORD shall count when he writes up the peoples that this one was born there. Selah.

And singers and players on instruments in her shall say: all my springs are in thee.

Psalm 89:1-29

Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite.

¶ I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens; in them thou shalt establish thy truth.

I have made a covenant with my chosen; I have sworn unto David my slave, saying,

Thy seed will I establish for ever and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.

¶ And the heavens shall praise thy wonder, O LORD, thy truth also in the congregation of the saints.

For who in the heavens can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints and to be had in reverence of all those that are about him.

O LORD God of the hosts, who is like unto thee? Strong JAH, compassed about with thy truth.

Thou dost rule the raging of the sea: when its waves arise, thou dost still them.

10 Thou hast broken Egypt in pieces as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.

11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: the world and its fullness, thou didst found.

12 Thou hast created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon shall sing in thy name.

13 The mighty arm is thine; strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.

14 Thy throne is composed of righteousness and judgment; mercy and truth go before thy face.

15 ¶ Happy are the people that know how to enter into joy; they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

16 In thy name shall they rejoice each day; and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

17 For thou art the glory of their strength, and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.

18 For the LORD is our shield, and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

19 ¶ Then thou didst speak in vision to thy holy one and didst say, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of my people.

20 I have found David my slave; I anointed him with the oil of my holiness,

21 with whom my hand shall be established; mine arm also shall strengthen him.

22 The enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down.

23 But I will break down his foes before his face and smite those that hate him.

24 But my truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

25 In the same manner I will set his hand also in the sea and his right hand in the rivers.

26 He shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health.

27 Also I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.

28 I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

29 I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.

Joshua 3:14-4:7

14 ¶ And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents to pass the Jordan and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

15 when those that bore the ark entered into the Jordan, as soon as the feet of the priests that bore the ark were dipped in the brim of the water (for Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest),

16 that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far from the city of Adam, that is beside Zaretan; and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed and were cut off; and the people passed over right against Jericho.

17 But the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan until all the people finished passing the Jordan; and all Israel passed on dry ground.

¶ And it came to pass when all the people were finished passing the Jordan, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying,

Take twelve men out of the people, out of each tribe a man,

and command them, saying, Take from here of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.

Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the sons of Israel, out of each tribe a man;

and Joshua said unto them, Pass before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan and take ye up each one of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,

that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean unto you?

Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the sons of Israel for ever.

Ephesians 5:1-20

¶ Be ye therefore imitators of God, as dear children

and walk in charity even as the Christ also has loved us and has given himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

¶ But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becomes saints,

neither dishonest words nor foolishness nor low jesting, which are not convenient, but rather giving of thanks.

For this ye know, that no fornicator nor unclean person nor covetous man, who is also an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Be not ye, therefore, partakers with them.

For in another time ye were darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord: walk as children of light;

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

10 approving what is well pleasing unto the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which they do in secret.

13 But all these things when they are reproved by the light are made manifest, for the light is that which manifests everything.

14 Therefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore, be ye not unwise, but understanding of what the will of the Lord is.

18 And be not drunk with wine, in which there is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,

19 speaking among yourselves with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and praising the Lord in your hearts,

20 giving thanks always for all things unto the God and Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

John 9:1-12

¶ And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from his birth.

And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

It is expedient that I do the works of him that sent me while it is day; the night comes, when no one can work.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay

and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent). Then he went and washed and came back seeing.

¶ The neighbours, therefore, and those who before had seen him that he was blind said, Is not this he that sat and begged?

Some said, This is he; others said, He is like him; but he said, I am he.

10 Then they said unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash; and I went and washed, and I received sight.

12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.

John 9:35-38

35 ¶ Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and finding him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe in the Son of God?

36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe in him?

37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast seen him, and it is he that talks with thee.

38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
