Psalm 107:33-108:13

33 He turneth the floods to a wilderness, and the springs of waters into dryness,

34 And a fruitful land into [a]barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

35 Again he [b]turneth the wilderness into pools of water, and the dry land into water springs.

36 And there he placeth the hungry, and they build a city to dwell in,

37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which bring forth fruitful [c]increase.

38 For he blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, and he diminisheth not their cattle.

39 [d]Again men are diminished, and brought low by oppression, evil and sorrow.

40 He poureth [e]contempt upon princes, and causeth them to err in desert places out of the way.

41 Yet he raiseth up the poor out of misery, and maketh him families like a flock of sheep.

42 The [f]righteous shall see it, and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

43 Who is wise that he may observe these things? for they shall understand the loving kindness of the Lord.

108 This Psalm is composed of two other Psalms before the seven and fiftieth and the sixtieth.  The matter here contained is, 1 That David giveth himself with heart and voice to praise the Lord, 7 and assureth himself of the promise of God concerning his kingdom over Israel, and his power against other nations: 11 Who though he seem to forsake us for a time, yet he alone will in the end cast down our enemies.

A song or Psalm of David.

O God, mine heart is [g]prepared, so is [h]my tongue: I will sing and give praise.

Awake viol and harp, I will awake early.

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the [i]people, and I will sing unto thee among the nations.

For thy mercy is great above the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

[j]Exalt thyself, O God, above the heavens, and let thy glory be upon all the earth,

That thy beloved may be delivered: [k]help with thy right hand and hear me.

God hath spoken in his [l]holiness: therefore I will rejoice, I shall divide Shechem and measure the valley of Succoth.

Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine: Ephraim also shall be the strength of mine head: Judah is my lawgiver.

(A)Moab shall be my washpot: over Edom will I cast out my shoe: upon Palestine will I triumph.

10 Who will lead me into the strong city? who will bring me unto Edom?

11 [m]Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst forsaken us, and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?

12 Give us help against trouble: for vain is the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he shall tread down our enemies.

Psalm 33

33 1 He exhorteth good men to praise God, for that he hath not only created all things, and by his providence governeth the same, but also is faithful in his promises, 10 he understandeth man’s heart, and scattereth the counsel of the wicked, 16 so that no man can be preserved by any creature or man’s strength: by they, that put their confidence in his mercy, shall be preserved from all adversities.

Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it [a]becometh upright men to be thankful.

Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with viol and [b]instrument of ten strings.

Sing unto him a new song: sing cheerfully with a loud voice.

For the [c]word of the Lord is righteous, and all his [d]works are faithful.

He [e]loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

He [f]gathereth the waters of the sea together as upon an heap, and layeth up the depths in his treasures.

Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all them that dwell in the world, fear him.

For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it [g]stood.

10 The Lord breaketh the [h]counsel of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the devices of the people.

11 The counsel of the Lord shall stand forever, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.

12 Blessed is that nation, whose [i]God is the Lord: even the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.

13 The Lord [j]looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men.

14 From the habitation of his dwelling, he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.

15 He [k]fashioneth their hearts every one, and understandeth all their works.

16 The [l]King is not saved by the multitude of an host, neither is the mighty man delivered by great strength.

17 A horse is a vain help, and shall not deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, [m]the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, and upon them that trust in his mercy,

19 To deliver their souls from death, and to preserve them in famine.

20 [n]Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our help and our shield.

21 Surely our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trusted in thee.

Numbers 20:14-29

14 ¶ Then Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of [a]Edom, saying, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that we have had,

15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time, where the Egyptians handled us evil and our fathers.

16 But when we cried unto the Lord, he heard our voice, and sent an Angel, and hath brought us out of Egypt, and behold, we are in the city Kadesh, in thine utmost border.

17 I pray thee that we may pass through thy country: we will not go through the fields nor the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the [b]king’s way, and neither turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we be past thy borders.

18 And Edom answered him, [c]Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.

19 Then the children of Israel said unto him, We will go up by the highway: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, I will then pay for it: I will only (without any harm) go through on my feet.

20 He answered again, Thou shalt not go through. Then [d]Edom came out against him with much people, and with a mighty power.

21 Thus Edom denied to give Israel passage through his country: wherefore Israel [e]turned away from him.

22 ¶ And when the children of Israel with all the Congregation departed from (A)Kadesh, they came unto mount Hor.

23 And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron in the mount Hor near the coast of the land of Edom, saying,

24 Aaron shall be [f]gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land, which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye [g]disobeyed my commandment at the water of [h]Meribah.

25 Take (B)Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up into the mount Hor,

26 And cause Aaron to put off his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: for Aaron shall be gathered to his fathers, and shall die there.

27 And Moses did as the Lord had commanded: and they went up into the mount Hor, in the sight of all the Congregation.

28 And Moses put off Aaron’s clothes, and put them upon Eleazar his son: (C)so Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from off the mount.

29 When all the Congregation saw that Aaron was dead, all the house of Israel [i]wept for Aaron thirty days.

Romans 6:1-11

1 He cometh to sanctification, without which, that no man putteth on Christ’s righteousness, he proveth 4 by an argument taken of Baptism, 12 and thereupon exhorteth to holiness of life, 16 briefly making mention of the Law transgressed.

What [a]shall we say then? Shall we continue still in [b]sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.

[c]How shall we, that are [d]dead to sin, live yet therein?

[e]Know ye not, that (A)all we which have been baptized into [f]Jesus Christ, have been baptized into his death?

(B)We are buried then with him by baptism into his death, that like as Christ was raised up from the dead [g]to the glory of the Father, so [h]we also should (C)walk in newness of life.

(D)[i]For if we be planted with him to the [j]similitude of his death, even so shall we [k]be to the similitude of his resurrection,

Knowing this, that our [l]old man is crucified with [m]him, that the body of [n]sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not [o]serve sin,

[p]For he that is dead, is freed from sin.

Wherefore, if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live also with him,

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead, dieth no more: death hath no more dominion over him.

10 For in that he died, he died [q]once to sin: but in that he liveth, he liveth to [r]God.

11 Likewise think ye also, that ye are dead to sin, but are alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Matthew 21:1-11

21 1 Christ rideth on an ass unto Jerusalem. 12 He casteth out the sellers. 13 The house of prayer. 19 The withered fig tree. 25 John’s baptism. 28 Who do the will of God. 30 Publicans, Harlots. 33 God’s vineyard. The Jews. 38 The son killed of the husbandmen. 42 The cornerstone.

And (A)[a]when they drew near to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of the Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

Saying to them, Go into the town that is over against you, and anon ye shall find an ass bound, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

And if any man say ought unto you, say ye, that the Lord hath need of them, and straightway [b]he will let them go.

All this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, saying,

(B)Tell ye the [c]daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass, and a colt, the foal of an ass used to the yoke.

So the disciples went, and did as Jesus had commanded them,

And brought the ass and the colt, and put on them their [d]clothes, and set him [e]thereon.

And a great multitude spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

Moreover, the people that went before, and they also that followed, cried, saying, [f]Hosanna to the Son of David, [g]Blessed be he that cometh in the Name of the Lord, Hosanna thou which art in the highest heavens.

10 (C)And when he was come into Jerusalem, [h]all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

11 And the people said, This is Jesus that Prophet of Nazareth in Galilee.
