Aaron Brings Offerings
9 Now it happened (A)on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel; 2 and he said to Aaron, “(B)Take for yourself a calf, a bull, for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish, and bring them near before Yahweh. 3 Then to the sons of Israel you shall speak, saying, ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, both one year old, without blemish, for a burnt offering, 4 and an ox and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before Yahweh, and a grain offering mixed with oil; for today (C)Yahweh will appear to you.’” 5 So they took what Moses had commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and the whole congregation came near and stood before Yahweh. 6 And Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded you to do, that (D)the glory of Yahweh may appear to you.” 7 Moses then said to Aaron, “Come near to the altar and (E)offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, that you may make atonement for yourself and for the people; then offer the offering [a]for the people, that you may make atonement for them, just as Yahweh has commanded.”
8 (F)So Aaron came near to the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering which was for himself. 9 (G)Then Aaron’s sons brought the blood near to him; and he dipped his finger in the blood and (H)put some on the horns of the altar and poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. 10 The fat and the kidneys and the [b]lobe of the liver of the sin offering he then offered up in smoke on the altar just as Yahweh had commanded Moses. 11 (I)The flesh and the skin, however, he burned with fire outside the camp.
12 Then he slaughtered the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons handed the blood to him, and he splashed it around on the altar. 13 And they handed the burnt offering to him in [c]pieces, with the head, and he offered them up in smoke on the altar. 14 He also washed the entrails and the legs and offered them up in smoke with the burnt offering on the altar.
15 Then he brought near the people’s offering and took the (J)goat of the sin offering which was for the people and slaughtered it and offered it for sin, like the first. 16 He also brought near the burnt offering and [d]offered it according to (K)the legal judgment. 17 Next he brought near (L)the grain offering and filled his [e]hand with some of it and offered it up in smoke on the altar, (M)besides the burnt offering of the morning.
18 Then (N)he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings which was for the people; and Aaron’s sons handed the blood to him, and he splashed it around on the altar. 19 As for the portions of fat from the ox and from the ram, the fat tail and the fat (O)covering and the kidneys and the [f]lobe of the liver, 20 they now placed the portions of fat on the breasts; and he offered [g]them up in smoke on the altar. 21 But (P)the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved as a wave offering before Yahweh, just as Moses had commanded.
22 Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and (Q)blessed them, and he stepped down after offering the sin offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings. 23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting. Then they came out and blessed the people. And (R)the glory of Yahweh appeared to all the people. 24 (S)Then fire came out from before Yahweh and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on the altar. And all the people saw it and shouted and fell on their faces.
Nadab and Abihu Offer Strange Fire
10 Then (T)Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respective (U)firepans and put fire in them. Then they placed incense on it and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which He had not commanded them. 2 (V)And fire came out from the presence of Yahweh and consumed them, and they died before Yahweh. 3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “It is what Yahweh spoke, saying,
‘By those who (W)come near Me I [h](X)will be treated as holy,
And before all the people I will (Y)be glorified.’”
So Aaron kept silent.
4 Then Moses called to (Z)Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel, and said to them, “Come near, carry your [i]relatives away from the front of the sanctuary to the outside of the camp.” 5 So they came near and carried them still in their (AA)tunics to the outside of the camp, as Moses had said. 6 Then Moses said to Aaron and to his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “(AB)Do not [j]uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, so that you will not die and that He will not (AC)become wrathful against all the congregation. But your [k]relatives, the whole house of Israel, shall weep over the burning which Yahweh has [l]brought about. 7 You shall not even go out from the doorway of the tent of meeting, lest you die; for (AD)the anointing oil of Yahweh is upon you.” So they did according to the word of Moses.
8 Yahweh then spoke to Aaron, saying, 9 “(AE)Do not drink wine or strong drink, neither you nor your sons with you, when you come into the tent of meeting, so that you will not die—it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations— 10 and (AF)so as to separate between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean, 11 and (AG)so as to instruct the sons of Israel in all the statutes which Yahweh has spoken to them through Moses.”
12 Then Moses spoke to Aaron and to his remaining sons, (AH)Eleazar and Ithamar, “(AI)Take the remaining grain offering from the offerings to Yahweh by fire and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy. 13 And you shall eat it in a holy place because it is a statute for you and a statute for your sons taken out of the offerings of Yahweh by fire; for thus I have been commanded. 14 (AJ)The breast of the wave offering, however, and the thigh of the [m]contribution offering you may eat in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you; for they have been given as a statute for you and a statute for your sons taken out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the sons of Israel. 15 (AK)The thigh contributed by [n]raising up and the breast offered by waving they shall bring along with the offerings by fire of the portions of fat, to wave as a wave offering before Yahweh; so it shall be a perpetual statute for you and your sons with you, just as Yahweh has commanded.”
16 But Moses searched carefully for the (AL)goat of the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned up! So he was angry with Aaron’s remaining sons Eleazar and Ithamar, saying, 17 “Why (AM)did you not eat the sin offering at the holy place? For it is most holy, and [o]He gave it to you to bear away (AN)the guilt of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Yahweh. 18 Behold, (AO)since its blood had not been brought inside, into the sanctuary, you should certainly have (AP)eaten it in the sanctuary, just as I commanded.” 19 But Aaron spoke to Moses, “Behold, this very day they (AQ)brought near their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh. Then things like these happened to me. So if I had eaten a sin offering today, would it have been good in the sight of Yahweh?” 20 So Moses heard this, and it was good in his sight.

Jesus Heals a Woman and Jairus’ Daughter
21 (A)And when Jesus had crossed over again in (B)the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him; and so He [a]stayed (C)by the seashore. 22 (D)And one of (E)the synagogue [b]officials named Jairus *came up, and on seeing Him, *fell at His feet 23 and *pleaded with Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come, that by coming, (F)You may lay Your hands on her, so that she will [c]be saved and live.” 24 And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.
25 And a woman—who had a hemorrhage for twelve years 26 and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse— 27 after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His garment. 28 For she was saying, “If I just touch His garments, I will [d]be saved from this.” 29 And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she knew within her body that she had been healed of her (G)affliction. 30 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that (H)the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and was saying, “Who touched My garments?” 31 And His disciples were saying to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” 32 And He was looking around to see the woman who had done this. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, (I)your faith has [e]saved you; (J)go in peace and be healed of your (K)affliction.”
35 While He was still speaking, they *came from the house of the (L)synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?” 36 But Jesus, overhearing what had been spoken, *said to the (M)synagogue official, “(N)Do not be afraid, only [f]believe.” 37 And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except (O)Peter and James and John the brother of James. 38 And they *came to the house of the (P)synagogue official; and He *saw a commotion, and people loudly crying and wailing. 39 And entering in, He *said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and crying? The child has not died, but is asleep.” 40 And they began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He *took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and *entered the room where the child was. 41 And taking the child by the hand, He *said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which translated means, “Little girl, (Q)I say to you, arise!”). 42 And immediately the little girl stood up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded. 43 And He (R)gave them strict orders that no one should know about this, and He said that some food should be given to her to eat.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
6 (S)And Jesus went out from there and *came into [g](T)His hometown; and His disciples *followed Him. 2 And when the Sabbath came, He began (U)to teach in the synagogue; and (V)many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to this man, and such [h]miracles as these performed by His hands? 3 Is this man not (W)the carpenter, (X)the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Are not (Y)His sisters here with us?” And they were taking (Z)offense at Him. 4 And Jesus was saying to them, “(AA)A prophet is not without honor except in [i](AB)his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household.” 5 And He could do no [j]miracle there except that He (AC)laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He was marveling at their unbelief.
(AD)And He was going around the villages teaching.

Remember His Wondrous Deeds
105 Oh (A)give thanks to Yahweh, (B)call upon His name;
(C)Make known His acts among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, (D)sing praises to Him;
(E)Muse on all His wondrous deeds.
3 Boast in His holy name;
Let the (F)heart of those who seek Yahweh be glad.
4 Inquire of Yahweh and (G)His strength;
(H)Seek His face continually.
5 Remember His (I)wondrous deeds which He has done,
His miracles and the (J)judgments [a]uttered by His mouth,
6 O seed of (K)Abraham, His servant,
O sons of (L)Jacob, His (M)chosen ones!
7 He is Yahweh our God;
His (N)judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has (O)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded for a (P)thousand generations,
9 (Q)Which He cut with Abraham,
And His (R)oath to Isaac.
10 Then He (S)confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “(T)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the [b](U)portion of your inheritance,”
12 When they were only a (V)few men in number,
Of little account, and (W)sojourners in it.
13 And they wandered about from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people.
14 He (X)permitted no man to oppress them,
And He (Y)reproved kings for their sakes:
15 “(Z)Do not touch My anointed ones,
And to My prophets do no evil.”
16 And He (AA)called for a famine upon the land;
He (AB)broke the whole staff of bread.
17 He (AC)sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was (AD)sold as a slave.
18 They afflicted his (AE)feet with fetters,
[c]He himself was laid in irons;
19 Until the time that his (AF)word came to pass,
The word of Yahweh (AG)refined him.
20 The (AH)king sent and released him,
The ruler of peoples sent and set him free.
21 He (AI)set him up as lord of his house
And ruler over all his possessions,
22 To [d]imprison his princes [e](AJ)at will,
And that he might teach his elders wisdom.
23 (AK)Then Israel came to Egypt;
And Jacob (AL)sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 And He (AM)caused His people to be very fruitful,
And He caused them to be stronger than their adversaries.
25 He (AN)turned their heart to hate His people,
To (AO)deal craftily with His slaves.
26 He (AP)sent Moses His servant,
And (AQ)Aaron, whom He had chosen.
27 They (AR)set forth the words of His signs among them,
And miracles in the land of Ham.
28 He (AS)sent darkness and made it dark;
And they did not (AT)rebel against His words.
29 He (AU)turned their waters into blood
And caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with (AV)frogs
Even in the (AW)chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came a (AX)swarm of flies
And (AY)gnats in all their territory.
32 He [f]gave them (AZ)hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 He also (BA)struck down their vines and their fig trees,
And He shattered the trees of their territory.
34 He spoke, and (BB)locusts came,
And creeping locusts, without number,
35 And [g]they ate up all vegetation in their land,
And [h]they ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 He also (BC)struck down all the firstborn in their land,
The (BD)first of all their vigor.
37 Then He brought them out with (BE)silver and gold,
And there was none among His tribes who stumbled.
38 Egypt was (BF)glad when they went out,
For the (BG)dread of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a (BH)cloud for a [i]covering,
And (BI)fire to give light by night.
40 [j]They (BJ)asked, and He brought (BK)quail,
And He satisfied them with the [k](BL)bread of heaven.
41 He opened the [l]rock and (BM)water flowed out;
[m]It ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For He (BN)remembered His holy word
With Abraham His servant;
43 And He brought His people out with joy,
His chosen ones with a shout of (BO)joy.
44 He (BP)gave them also the lands of the [n]nations,
That they (BQ)might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
45 So that they might (BR)keep His statutes
And observe His laws,
[o]Praise Yah!
Remember Me, O Yahweh
106 [p]Praise Yah!
Oh (BS)give thanks to Yahweh, for He (BT)is good;
For (BU)His lovingkindness endures forever.
2 Who can speak of the (BV)mighty deeds of Yahweh,
Or can make all His praise to be heard?
3 How blessed are those who keep [q]justice,
[r]And he who (BW)does righteousness at all times!
4 Remember me, O Yahweh, in Your (BX)favor [s]toward Your people;
Visit me with Your salvation,
5 That I may see the (BY)goodness of Your chosen ones,
That I may (BZ)rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may (CA)boast with Your [t]inheritance.
6 (CB)We have sinned (CC)with our fathers,
We have committed iniquity, we have acted wickedly.
7 Our fathers in Egypt did not consider Your wondrous deeds;
They (CD)did not remember Your abundant lovingkindnesses,
But they (CE)rebelled by the sea, at the [u]Red Sea.
8 Yet He saved them (CF)for the sake of His name,
That He might (CG)make His might known.
9 Thus He (CH)rebuked the [v]Red Sea and it (CI)dried up,
And He (CJ)led them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.
10 So He (CK)saved them from the [w]hand of the one who hated them,
And (CL)redeemed them from the [x]hand of the enemy.
11 (CM)The waters covered their adversaries;
Not one of them was left.
12 Then they (CN)believed His words;
They (CO)sang His praise.
13 They quickly (CP)forgot His works;
They (CQ)did not wait for His counsel,
14 But (CR)craved intensely in the wilderness,
And (CS)put God to the test in the wasteland.
15 So He (CT)gave them their request,
But (CU)sent a [y]wasting disease against their lives.
16 Then they became (CV)envious of Moses in the camp,
And of Aaron, the holy one of Yahweh,
17 The (CW)earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
And covered up the [z]company of Abiram.
18 And a (CX)fire burned up in their company;
The flame consumed the wicked.
19 They (CY)made a calf in Horeb
And worshiped a molten image.
20 Thus they (CZ)exchanged their glory
For the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They (DA)forgot God their Savior,
Who had done (DB)great things in Egypt,
22 (DC)Wondrous deeds in the land of Ham
And awesome things by the [aa]Red Sea.
23 Therefore (DD)He said that He would destroy them,
Had not (DE)Moses His chosen one stood in the breach before Him,
To turn away His wrath from [ab]eradicating them.
24 Then they (DF)despised the (DG)pleasant land;
They (DH)did not believe in His word,
25 But (DI)grumbled in their tents;
They did not listen to the voice of Yahweh.
26 So He [ac](DJ)swore to them
To make them fall in the wilderness,
27 And to (DK)make their seed fall among the nations
And to (DL)scatter them in the lands.
28 They then (DM)joined themselves to [ad]Baal-peor,
And ate (DN)sacrifices offered to the dead.
29 Thus they (DO)provoked Him to anger with their actions,
And the plague broke out among them.
30 Then Phinehas (DP)stood up and interceded,
And so the (DQ)plague was checked.
31 And it was (DR)counted to him for righteousness,
From generation to generation forever.
32 They also (DS)provoked Him to wrath at the waters of [ae]Meribah,
So that it (DT)went badly with Moses on their account;
33 Because they (DU)were rebellious against [af]His Spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.
34 They (DV)did not destroy the peoples,
As (DW)Yahweh commanded them,
35 But (DX)they mingled with the nations
And learned their works,
36 And (DY)served their idols,
(DZ)Which became a snare to them.
37 They (EA)sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the (EB)demons,
38 And they shed (EC)innocent blood,
The blood of their (ED)sons and their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was (EE)polluted with the blood.
39 Thus they became (EF)unclean in their works,
And (EG)played the harlot in their actions.
40 So the (EH)anger of Yahweh was kindled against His people
And He (EI)abhorred His [ag](EJ)inheritance.
41 Then (EK)He gave them into the hand of the [ah]nations,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies (EL)oppressed them,
And they were subdued under their hand.
43 Many times He would (EM)deliver them;
But they were rebellious in their (EN)counsel,
And so they (EO)sank down in their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless He looked upon their distress
When He (EP)heard their cry of lamentation;
45 And He (EQ)remembered for them His covenant,
And [ai](ER)relented (ES)according to the abundance of His lovingkindness.
46 He also made them (ET)objects of compassion
In the presence of all their captors.
47 (EU)Save us, O Yahweh our God,
And (EV)gather us from among the nations,
To give thanks to Your holy name
And (EW)revel in Your praise.
48 (EX)Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
From everlasting to everlasting.
And let all the people say, “Amen.”
[aj]Praise Yah!

Hope in Yahweh and He Will Save You
20 (A)Wine is a mocker, (B)strong drink a brawler,
And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
2 The terror of a king is like the roar of a lion;
He who provokes him to anger (C)sins against his own soul.
3 It is a glory for a man to (D)cease quarreling,
But any ignorant fool will break out in dispute.
4 The (E)sluggard does not plow from winter on,
So he [a]begs during the harvest and has nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of a man is like deep water,
But a man of discernment draws it out.
6 Many a man will (F)call out his own lovingkindness,
But a (G)faithful man, who can find?
7 A righteous man who (H)walks in his integrity—
(I)How blessed are his sons after him.
8 (J)A king who sits on the throne of justice
[b]Disperses all evil with his eyes.
9 (K)Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure,
I am clean from my sin”?
10 [c](L)Differing weights and differing measures,
Both of them are an abomination to Yahweh.
11 It is by his deeds that a young man (M)makes himself known
If his conduct is pure and right.
12 The hearing (N)ear and the seeing eye,
Yahweh has made both of them.
13 (O)Do not love sleep, lest you become poor;
Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with [d]food.
14 “Bad, bad,” says the buyer,
But when he goes his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold, and an abundance of pearls;
But the lips of knowledge are a more precious vessel.
16 Take his garment when he becomes a guarantor for a stranger;
And for foreigners, hold him in pledge.
17 (P)Bread obtained by lying is sweet to a man,
But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.
18 [e](Q)Thoughts are established by counsel,
So (R)make war by guidance.
19 He who (S)goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets,
Therefore do not associate with [f](T)one of loose lips.
20 He who (U)curses his father or his mother,
His (V)lamp will go out in the [g]midst of darkness.
21 An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning
In the end will not be blessed.
22 (W)Do not say, “I will repay evil”;
(X)Hope in Yahweh, and He will save you.
23 [h](Y)Differing weights are an abomination to Yahweh,
And a (Z)deceitful balance is not good.
24 (AA)The steps of a man are from Yahweh,
How then can man understand his way?
25 It is a trap for a man to say rashly, “It is holy!”
And (AB)after the vows to make inquiry.
26 A (AC)wise king winnows the wicked,
And turns the (AD)threshing wheel over them.
27 The [i](AE)breath of man is the lamp of Yahweh,
Searching all the [j]innermost parts of his body.
28 Lovingkindness and (AF)truth will guard the king,
And he upholds his throne by lovingkindness.
29 The honor of young men is their strength,
And the [k](AG)majesty of old men is their gray hair.
30 (AH)Stripes that wound scour away evil,
And strokes reach the [l]innermost parts of the body.
