耶穌揀選十二使徒(A)
10 耶穌叫了十二個門徒來，給他們權柄，能驅趕污靈和醫治各樣的疾病。 2 這十二使徒的名字如下：頭一個叫西門（又稱彼得），還有他弟弟安得烈，西庇太的兒子雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰， 3 腓力和巴多羅買，多馬和稅吏馬太，亞勒腓的兒子雅各，和達太， 4 激進黨的西門，還有出賣耶穌的加略人猶大。
耶穌差遣十二使徒(B)
5 耶穌差遣這十二個人出去，吩咐他們說：「外邦人的路，你們不要走；撒瑪利亞人的城，你們不要進； 6 寧可往以色列家迷失的羊那裏去。 7 要邊走邊傳，說『天國近了』。 8 要醫治病人，使死人復活，使痲瘋病人潔淨，把鬼趕出去。你們白白地得來，也要白白地給人。 9 腰袋裏不要帶金銀銅錢； 10 途中不要帶行囊，不要帶兩件內衣，也不要帶鞋子和手杖，因為工人得飲食是應當的。 11 你們無論進哪一城、哪一村，要打聽那裏誰是合適的人，就住在他家，直住到離開的時候。 12 進他家時，要向那家請安。 13 那家若配得平安，你們所求的平安就臨到那家；若不配得，你們所求的平安仍歸你們。 14 凡不接待你們，不聽你們話的人，你們離開那家，或是那城的時候，要跺掉你們腳上的塵土。 15 我實在告訴你們，在審判的日子，所多瑪和蛾摩拉地方所受的，比那城還容易受呢！」

16 「看哪！我差你們出去，如同羊進入狼羣，所以你們要機警如蛇，純真如鴿。 17 你們要防備那些人，因為他們要把你們交給議會，也要在會堂裏鞭打你們。 18 你們要為我的緣故被送到統治者和君王面前，對他們和外邦人作見證。 19 當人把你們交出時，不要擔心怎樣說話，或說甚麼話。到那時候，必賜給你們該說的話， 20 因為不是你們自己說的，而是你們父的靈在你們裏面說的。 21 兄弟要把兄弟、父親要把兒女置於死地；兒女要起來與父母為敵，害死他們。 22 而且你們要為我的名被眾人憎恨。但堅忍到底的終必得救。 23 有人在這城迫害你們，就逃到另一城去。[a]我實在告訴你們，以色列的城鎮，你們還沒有走遍，人子就要來臨。
24 「學生不高過老師，僕人不高過主人。 25 學生所遭遇的與老師一樣，僕人所遭遇的與主人一樣，也就夠了。既然有人罵一家的主人是『別西卜』[b]，更何況他的家人呢？」
不要懼怕(D)
26 「所以，不要怕他們，因為掩蓋的事沒有不顯露出來的，隱藏的事也沒有不被知道的。 27 我在暗中告訴你們的，你們要在明處說出來；你們耳中所聽的，要在屋頂上宣揚出來。 28 那殺人身體但不能滅人靈魂的，不要怕他們；惟有那能在地獄裏毀滅身體和靈魂的，才要怕他。 29 兩隻麻雀不是賣一銅錢[c]嗎？你們的父若不許，一隻也不會掉在地上。 30 就是你們的頭髮也都數過了。 31 所以，不要懼怕，你們比許多的麻雀還貴重！」
在人的面前認基督(E)
32 「所以，凡在人面前認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必認他； 33 凡在人面前不認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必不認他。」
作門徒的代價(F)
34 「你們不要以為我來是帶給地上和平，我來並不是帶來和平，而是刀劍。 35 因為我來是要叫
『人與父親對立，
女兒與母親對立，
媳婦與婆婆對立。
36 人的仇敵就是自己家裏的人。』
37 愛父母勝過愛我的，不配作我的門徒；愛兒女勝過愛我的，不配作我的門徒。 38 不背自己的十字架跟從我的，不配作我的門徒。 39 得着性命的，要喪失性命；為我喪失性命的，要得着性命。」
論賞賜(G)
40 「接納你們的就是接納我；接納我的就是接納差遣我來的那位。 41 把先知當作先知接納的，必得先知的賞賜；把義人當作義人接納的，必得義人的賞賜。 42 無論誰，只因門徒的名，就算把一杯涼水給這些小子中的一個喝，我實在告訴你們，他一定會得到賞賜。」

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(A)(B)(C)(D)(E)
10 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits(F) and to heal every disease and sickness.(G)
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.(H)
5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.(I) 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.(J) 7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven(K) has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
9 “Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts(L)— 10 no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.(M) 11 Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. 12 As you enter the home, give it your greeting.(N) 13 If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. 14 If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.(O) 15 Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah(P) on the day of judgment(Q) than for that town.(R)
16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves.(S) Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.(T) 17 Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils(U) and be flogged in the synagogues.(V) 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings(W) as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it.(X) At that time you will be given what to say, 20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father(Y) speaking through you.
21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents(Z) and have them put to death.(AA) 22 You will be hated by everyone because of me,(AB) but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.(AC) 23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.(AD)
24 “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master.(AE) 25 It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul,(AF) how much more the members of his household!
26 “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.(AG) 27 What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One(AH) who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[b] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.(AI) 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.(AJ)
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others,(AK) I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.(AL)
34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law(AM)—
36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’[c](AN)
37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.(AO) 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.(AP) 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.(AQ)
40 “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me,(AR) and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.(AS) 41 Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”(AT)

19 Mutta kun he vetävät teitä oikeuteen, älkää huolehtiko siitä, miten tahi mitä puhuisitte, sillä teille annetaan sillä hetkellä, mitä teidän on puhuminen.
20 Sillä ette te itse puhu, vaan teidän Isänne Henki puhuu teissä.
21 Ja veli antaa veljensä kuolemaan ja isä lapsensa, ja lapset nousevat vanhempiansa vastaan ja tappavat heidät.
22 Ja te joudutte kaikkien vihattaviksi minun nimeni tähden; mutta joka vahvana pysyy loppuun asti, se pelastuu.
23 Ja kun teitä vainotaan yhdessä kaupungissa, paetkaa toiseen; sillä totisesti minä sanon teille: te ette ehdi loppuun käydä Israelin kaupunkeja, ennenkuin Ihmisen Poika tulee.
24 Ei ole opetuslapsi opettajaansa parempi, eikä palvelija parempi isäntäänsä.
25 Opetuslapselle riittää, että hänelle käy niinkuin hänen opettajalleen, ja palvelijalle, että hänelle käy niinkuin hänen isännälleen. Jos he perheenisäntää ovat sanoneet Beelsebuliksi, kuinka paljoa enemmän hänen perheväkeään!
26 Älkää siis peljätkö heitä. Sillä ei ole mitään peitettyä, mitä ei tule paljastetuksi, eikä mitään salattua, mikä ei tule tunnetuksi.
27 Minkä minä sanon teille pimeässä, se puhukaa päivän valossa. Ja minkä kuulette kuiskattavan korvaanne, se julistakaa katoilta.
28 Älkääkä peljätkö niitä, jotka tappavat ruumiin, mutta eivät voi tappaa sielua; vaan ennemmin peljätkää häntä, joka voi sekä sielun että ruumiin hukuttaa helvettiin.
29 Eikö kahta varpusta myydä yhteen ropoon? Eikä yksikään niistä putoa maahan teidän Isänne sallimatta.
30 Ovatpa teidän päänne hiuksetkin kaikki luetut.
31 Älkää siis peljätkö; te olette suurempiarvoiset kuin monta varpusta.
32 Sentähden, jokaisen, joka tunnustaa minut ihmisten edessä, minäkin tunnustan Isäni edessä, joka on taivaissa.
33 Mutta joka kieltää minut ihmisten edessä, sen minäkin kiellän Isäni edessä, joka on taivaissa.

The Twelve Disciples Sent Out
5 (M)These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them, saying, “Do not [c]go [d]in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the (N)Samaritans; 6 but rather go to (O)the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, [e]preach, saying, ‘(P)The kingdom of heaven [f]is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. 9 (Q)Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, 10 or a [g]bag for your journey, or even two [h]tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for (R)the worker is worthy of his [i]support. 11 And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay there until you leave. 12 Now as you enter the [j]house, (S)give it your [k]greeting. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you leave that house or that city, (T)shake the dust off your feet. 15 Truly I say to you, (U)it will be more tolerable for the land of (V)Sodom and Gomorrah in (W)the day of judgment than for that city.
The Promise of Persecution
16 “(X)Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so [l]be (Y)shrewd as serpents and (Z)innocent as doves. 17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you over to the (AA)courts and flog you (AB)in their synagogues; 18 and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19 (AC)But when they deliver you over, (AD)do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given to you in that hour what you are to say. 20 For (AE)it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
21 “(AF)And brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and (AG)children will rise up against parents and [m]cause them to be put to death. 22 (AH)And you will be hated by all because of My name, but (AI)it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.
23 “But whenever they (AJ)persecute you in this city, flee to [n]the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel (AK)until the Son of Man comes.
The Meaning of Discipleship
24 “(AL)A [o]disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. (AM)If they have called the head of the house [p](AN)Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!
26 “Therefore do not (AO)fear them, (AP)for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. 27 (AQ)What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim (AR)upon the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather (AS)fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in [q](AT)hell. 29 (AU)Are not two sparrows sold for an [r]assarion? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But (AV)the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So do not fear; (AW)you are more valuable than many sparrows.
32 “Therefore (AX)everyone who [s]confesses Me before men, I will also confess [t]him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But (AY)whoever [u]denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
34 “(AZ)Do not think that I came to [v]bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to (BA)set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and (BB)a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.
37 “(BC)He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And (BD)he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 (BE)He who has found his [w]life will lose it, and he who has lost his [x]life for My sake will find it.
The Reward of Service
40 “(BF)He who receives you receives Me, and (BG)he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 41 (BH)He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And (BI)whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these [y]little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
