³⁴ “^(A)On account of this, behold, ^(B)I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will ^(C)flog in your synagogues, and ^(D)persecute from city to city,

⁹ “But see to yourselves; for they will ^(A)deliver you to the ^[a]courts, and you will be beaten ^(B)in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a witness to them.

¹¹ Now when they bring you before ^(A)the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not ^(B)worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say,

⁴⁰ So they ^[a]followed his advice. And after calling the apostles in and ^(A)beating them, they commanded them not to ^[b]speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.

¹⁹ And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves understand that in one synagogue after another ^(A)I used to imprison and ^(B)beat those who believed in You.

¹¹ And ^(A)as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and being ^(B)furiously enraged at them, I kept pursuing them ^(C)even to ^[a]foreign cities.
