And he took up his [figurative] discourse, and said: Balaam son of Beor speaks, the man whose eye is opened speaks,
¶ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
He raised his voice and made his address: “The oracle of Balaam, Beor’s son, the oracle of a man whose eye is open.
So he made his pronouncement: “This is the speech of Bil‘am, son of B‘or; the speech of the man whose eyes have been opened;
Balaam said: “I am the son of Beor, and my words are true, so listen to my message!
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,
Therefore taking up his parable, again he said: Balaam the son of Beor hath said: The man whose eye is stopped up, hath said:
Then Balaam gave this message: “This message is from Balaam son of Beor. I am speaking about things I see clearly.
And he took up his discourse and said, “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, the oracle of the man whose eye is opened,
And he took up his discourse and said, “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, the oracle of the man whose eye is opened,
Then Balaam gave this ·message [or oracle; or poem]: “This is the ·message [utterance] of Balaam son of Beor, the ·message [utterance] of a man ·who sees clearly [L whose eye is open];
And he uttered his parable, and said Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes were shut up hath said,

¶ And he took up his parable and said, Balaam, the son of Beor, has said, the man whose eyes are open has said,
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
And he uttered his oracle and said, “The declaration of Balaam son of Beor, and the declaration of the man whose eye is closed,
So he spoke this prophecy to him: “Balaam the son of Beor is the man Whose eyes are open! He hears the words of God And has knowledge from the Most High; He sees what Almighty God has shown him; He fell, and his eyes were opened: I see in the future of Israel, Far down the distant trail, That there shall come a star from Jacob! This ruler of Israel Shall smite the people of Moab, And destroy the sons of Sheth. Israel shall possess all Edom and Seir. They shall overcome their enemies. Jacob shall arise in power And shall destroy many cities.”
Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I tell you up front when you sent your emissaries, ‘Even if Balak gave me his palace stuffed with silver and gold, I couldn’t do anything on my own, whether good or bad, that went against God’s command’? I’m leaving for home and my people, but I warn you of what this people will do to your people in the days to come.” Then he spoke his oracle-message:
Decree of Balaam son of Beor, decree of the man with 20/20 vision, Decree of the man who hears godly speech, who knows what’s going on with the High God, Who sees what The Strong God reveals, who bows in worship and sees what’s real. I see him, but not right now, I perceive him, but not right here; A star rises from Jacob a scepter from Israel, Crushing the heads of Moab, the skulls of all the noisy windbags; I see Edom sold off at auction, enemy Seir marked down at the flea market, while Israel walks off with the trophies. A ruler is coming from Jacob who’ll destroy what’s left in the city.
He took up his parable and said: “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, and the oracle of the man whose eyes are open;
