The Lord All-Powerful said, “I will stand and fight against those people. I will destroy the famous city, Babylon. I will destroy all the people there. I will destroy their children, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren.” The Lord himself said this.
The Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts] says this: “I will ·fight [L rise up] against those people; I will ·destroy [L cut off from] Babylon ·and its people [L its name and remnant/survivors], its ·children [offspring] and their ·descendants [posterity],” says the Lord.
“I will confront them”—Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies—“and strip Babylon of name and survivors, children and grandchildren.” God’s Decree. “I’ll make it a worthless swamp and give it as a prize to the hedgehog. And then I’ll bulldoze it out of existence.” Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies.
“I will rise up against them,” announces the Lord who rules over all. “I will destroy Babylon. It will not be remembered anymore. No one will be left alive there. I will destroy its people and their children after them,” announces the Lord.
Eternal One: I will move against Babylon and put an end to her future generations. I will cut them off—leaving no survivors—so that your oppressors will become nameless and faceless shadows. I’ll sweep that city with My broom of destruction and turn its pools into stagnant marshes and leave its ruins to be ruled by wild animals. God swears that our oppressors will be punished. The Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies, makes this pledge. Eternal One: Things will happen as I plan. Things will be as I determine.
And I shall rise [up] on them, saith the Lord of hosts, and I shall lose the name of Babylon, and the remnants, and generation, and seed, saith the Lord. (For I shall rise up against them, saith the Lord of hosts, and I shall destroy the name of Babylon, and its remnants, and its children, and its descendants, saith the Lord.)
