Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow; and it shall be unto Me as Ariel.
then will I distress Ariel, and there shall be mourning and lamentation; and she shall be unto me as Ariel.
Then I will harass Ariel, And she will be a city of mourning and lamenting (crying out in grief) Yet she will be like an Ariel [an altar hearth] to Me.
Then will I distress Ariel; and there shall be mourning and lamentation, yet she shall be to Me like an Ariel [an altar hearth, a hearth of burning, the altar of God].
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
I will oppress Ariel, and there will be mourning and crying, and she will be to me like an Ariel.
but I will oppress Ariel. There will be mourning and lamentation; she will be like an Ariel to me.
but then I will bring trouble to Ari’el. There will be mourning and moaning, as she becomes truly an ari’el for me.
I will still make you suffer, and your people will cry when I make an altar of you.
But I will distress Ariel, and there shall be sorrow and sadness; and it shall be unto me as an Ariel.
And I will make a trench about Ariel, and it shall be in sorrow and mourning, and it shall be to me as Ariel.
But I will punish Ariel. The city will be filled with sadness and crying, but it will always be my Ariel.
I will bring trouble to Ariel. The people there will be very sad and they will weep. Ariel will become like my altar for burnt offerings.
But then I will bring distress to Ariel, and there will be mourning and lamentation. Then she will become an altar hearth to me.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and she shall be to me like an Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and she shall be to me like an Ariel.
I will ·attack [threaten; bring distress to] ·Jerusalem [L Ariel; v. 1], and that city will be filled with ·sadness [mourning] and ·crying [lamentation]. It will be like an ·altar [or altar hearth; C the Hebrew word sounds like Ariel, perhaps indicating that Jerusalem will burn like an altar] to me.
But I will bring the altar into distress, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow, and it shall be unto me like an altar.
I will torment Ariel, and the city will be filled with people grieving and mourning. The city will become like Ariel.
and then God will bring disaster on the city that is called “God's altar.” There will be weeping and wailing, and the whole city will be like an altar covered with blood.
I will oppress Ariel, and there will be mourning and crying, and she will be to Me like an Ariel.
I will attack Jerusalem. That city will be filled with sadness and crying. It will be like an altar to me.
Then I’ll besiege Aruel, and there will be sorrow and mourning; she will become to me like an altar fireplace.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
I will bring distress to Ariel, And she will be a city of mourning and moaning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.
Yet I will inflict Ariel, and there shall be mourning and lamentation, and it shall be to me like an altar hearth.
but I will send heavy judgment upon you, and there will be weeping and sorrow. For Jerusalem shall become as her name “Ariel” means—an altar covered with blood.
Doom, Ariel, Ariel, the city where David set camp! Let the years add up, let the festivals run their cycles, But I’m not letting up on Jerusalem. The moaning and groaning will continue. Jerusalem to me is an Ariel. Like David, I’ll set up camp against you. I’ll set siege, build towers, bring in siege engines, build siege ramps. Driven into the ground, you’ll speak, you’ll mumble words from the dirt— Your voice from the ground, like the muttering of a ghost. Your speech will whisper from the dust.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and she shall be a city of lamenting and sorrow, and she shall be as an Ariel to me.
I will torment Ariel, and the city will be filled with people grieving and mourning. The city will become like Ariel.
But I will bring distress upon Ariel, and there will be mourning and moaning. You shall be to me like Ariel:
I will bring distress to Ariel, And she will be a city of grieving and mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.
I will bring distress to Ariel, And she will be a city of lamenting and mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.
Yet I will inflict distress upon Ariel, and there will be endless mourning and lamentation as she becomes like an altar of fire.
I will attack Jerusalem, and that city will be filled with sadness and crying. It will be like an altar to me.
I will threaten Ariel, and she will mourn intensely and become like an altar hearth before me.
The Lord says, “Ariel, I will surround you. Jerusalem, I will get ready to attack you. Your people will mourn. They will sing songs of sadness. I will make you like the front of an altar covered with blood.
Yet I will besiege Ariel; she will mourn and lament, she will be to me like an altar hearth.
Yet I will besiege Ariel; she will mourn and lament, she will be to me like an altar hearth.
Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel.
I will bring trouble to Ariel. She will be a city of sorrow and crying. She will be like an altar covered with blood to me.
Yet I will bring disaster upon you, and there will be much weeping and sorrow. For Jerusalem will become what her name Ariel means— an altar covered with blood.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and Jerusalem shall be to me like an Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and Jerusalem shall be to me like an Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and Jerusalem shall be to me like an Ariel.
Yet I will oppress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and you shall be to me like an Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow; and it shall be unto me as ariel (altar hearth) [see Ezekiel 43:15]).
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and she shall be to me like an Ariel.
Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and she shall be to me like an Ariel.
But I will distress Ariel. There will be lamenting and moaning— then will she be like Ariel to Me?
In the meantime, I will trouble Ariel to the point of mourning and crying. She will be for me a fiery hearth.
then I will distress Ariel, and there will be mourning and lamentation. She shall be to me as an altar hearth.
And I shall compass Ariel, and it shall be sorrowful and mourning; and Jerusalem shall be to me as Ariel. (And I shall surround Ariel, and it shall be sorrowful and mourning; and Jerusalem shall be like Ariel to me.)
And I have sent distress to Ariel, And it hath been lamentation and mourning, And it hath been to me as Ariel.
