“Come to the city of Bethel and ·sin [rebel; transgress]; come to Gilgal and ·sin [rebel; transgress] even more [C Bethel and Gilgal were important worship centers in Israel]. Offer your sacrifices every morning, and bring ·one-tenth of your crops [your tithes] every three days.
The Sovereign Lord says, “People of Israel, go to the holy place in Bethel and sin, if you must! Go to Gilgal and sin with all your might! Go ahead and bring animals to be sacrificed morning after morning, and bring your tithes every third day.
“Come along to Bethel and sin! And then to Gilgal and sin some more! Bring your sacrifices for morning worship. Every third day bring your tithe. Burn pure sacrifices—thank offerings. Speak up—announce freewill offerings! That’s the sort of religious show you Israelites just love.” God’s Decree.
I dare you: Come to My shrine at Bethel and do wrong; come, worship Me at Gilgal, and watch your sins multiply. Go ahead, bring your ritual sacrifices there every morning and ten percent of your earnings every three days.
Come ye to Bethel, and do ye wickedly; to Gilgal, and multiply your trespassing; and offer ye early your sacrifices, in three days your tithes (and offer ye your sacrifices early in the morning, and your tithes every three days).
