Version
Psalm 119:17-32

Gimel

17 (A)Deal bountifully with Your slave,
That I may live and keep Your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold
Wonderful things from Your law.
19 I am a (B)sojourner in the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.
20 My soul is crushed [a](C)with longing
For Your judgments at all times.
21 You (D)rebuke the arrogant, [b]the (E)cursed,
Who (F)stray from Your commandments.
22 (G)Take away reproach and contempt from me,
For I (H)observe Your testimonies.
23 Even though (I)princes sit and talk against me,
Your slave (J)muses on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my (K)delight;
They are [c]my counselors.

Daleth

25 My (L)soul clings to the dust;
(M)Revive me (N)according to Your word.
26 I have recounted my ways, and You have answered me;
(O)Teach me Your statutes.
27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts,
So I will (P)muse on Your wondrous deeds.
28 My (Q)soul [d]weeps because of grief;
(R)Raise me up according to Your word.
29 Remove the false way from me,
And graciously grant me Your law.
30 I have chosen the faithful way;
I have [e]placed Your judgments before me.
31 I (S)cling to Your testimonies;
O Yahweh, do not put me to shame!
32 I shall run the way of Your commandments,
For You will (T)enlarge my heart.

Amos 8:13-9:4

13 In that day the beautiful (A)virgins
And the choice men will (B)faint from thirst.
14 As for those who swear by the [a](C)guilt of Samaria,
Who say, ‘As your god lives, O (D)Dan,’
And, ‘As the way of (E)Beersheba lives,’
They will fall and (F)not rise again.”

Sinful Israelites Will Die by the Sword

I saw the Lord standing beside the (G)altar, and He said,

“Strike the capitals so that the (H)thresholds will quake,
And (I)break them on the heads of them all!
Then I will (J)kill the rest of them with the sword;
(K)Not one of them who can flee will flee,
And not one of them who can survive will escape.
Though they dig into (L)Sheol,
From there will My hand take them;
And though they (M)ascend to heaven,
From there will I bring them down.
And though they hide on the [b]top of Carmel,
From there I will (N)search them out and take them;
And though they (O)conceal themselves from My eyes on the floor of the sea,
From there I will command the (P)serpent, and it will bite them.
And though they go into (Q)captivity before their enemies,
From there I will command the sword that it kill them,
And I will (R)set My eyes against them for evil and not for good.”

1 John 2:1-6

Jesus Christ Our Advocate

(A)My little children, I am (B)writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, (C)we have an [a](D)Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is (E)the [b]propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also (F)for those of the whole world.

(G)And by this we know that we have come to (H)know Him, if we (I)keep His commandments. The one who says, “(J)I have come to (K)know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a (L)liar, and (M)the truth is not in him; but whoever (N)keeps His word, truly in him the (O)love of God has been perfected. (P)By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he (Q)abides in Him (R)ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
