2 Kings 5:1-14

Naaman Cleaned from Leprosy

Now (A)Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man [a]with his master, and [b]highly respected, because by him Yahweh had given salvation to Aram. The man was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper. Now the Arameans had gone out (B)in marauding bands and had taken captive a little girl from the land of Israel; and she [c]waited on Naaman’s wife. And she said to her mistress, “I wish that my master were before the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would cure him of his leprosy.” Then [d]Naaman went in and told his master, saying, “Thus and thus spoke the girl who is from the land of Israel.” Then the king of Aram said, “Go [e]now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So he went and (C)took in his hand [f]ten talents of silver and [g]six thousand shekels of gold and ten (D)changes of clothes.

And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying,

“So now as this letter comes to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may cure him of his leprosy.”

Now it happened that when the king of Israel read the letter, (E)he tore his clothes and said, “(F)Am I God, to put to death and to make alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But (G)know now, and see how he is seeking [h]a quarrel against me.”

Now it happened when Elisha (H)the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent word to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Now let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.” So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “(I)Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.” 11 But Naaman was furious and went away and said, “Behold, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.’ 12 Are not [i]Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and (J)went away in wrath. 13 (K)Then his servants approached and spoke to him and said, “(L)My father, had the prophet spoken with you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” 14 So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and (M)his flesh was restored like the flesh of a young boy and (N)he was clean.

Psalm 30

You Have Turned My Mourning into Dancing

A Psalm. A Song at the Dedication of the House. Of David.

30 I will (A)exalt You, O Yahweh, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my (C)enemies be glad over me.
O Yahweh my God,
I (D)cried to You for help, and You (E)healed me.
O Yahweh, You have (F)brought up my soul from Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [a]that I would not (G)go down to the pit.
(H)Sing praise to Yahweh, you (I)His holy ones,
And (J)give thanks for the (K)remembrance of His holy name.
For (L)His anger is but for a moment,
His (M)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (N)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (O)never be shaken.”
O Yahweh, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (P)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
To You, O Yahweh, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
“What profit is there in my blood, if I (Q)go down to the pit?
Will the (R)dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?

10 (S)Hear, O Yahweh, and be gracious to me;
O Yahweh, be my (T)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (U)my mourning into dancing;
You have (V)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (W)gladness,
12 That my [b](X)glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Yahweh my God, I will (Y)give thanks to You forever.

Galatians 6:1-6

Bear One Another’s Burdens

(A)Brothers, even if [a]anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are (B)spiritual, (C)restore such a one (D)in a spirit of gentleness, each of you looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. (E)Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill (F)the law of Christ. For (G)if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But each one must (H)examine his own work, and then he will have reason for (I)boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. For (J)each one will bear his own load.

(K)And the one who is instructed in (L)the word is to share in all good things with the one who instructs him.

Galatians 6:7-16

(A)Do not be deceived, (B)God is not mocked, for (C)whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. (D)For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap (E)corruption, but (F)the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. (G)And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we (H)do not grow weary. 10 So then, [a](I)while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the (J)household of (K)the faith.

11 See with what large letters I [b]am writing to you (L)with my own hand! 12 As many as are wanting (M)to make a good showing in the flesh, these are trying to (N)compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they (O)will not be persecuted [c]for the cross of Christ. 13 For those who [d]are circumcised do not even (P)keep [e]the Law themselves, but they want to have you circumcised so that they may (Q)boast in your flesh. 14 But (R)may it never be that I would boast, (S)except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, (T)through [f]which the world has been crucified to me, and (U)I to the world. 15 For (V)neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a (W)new [g]creation. 16 And those who will [h]walk in step with this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the (X)Israel of God.

Luke 10:1-11

The Seventy Sent Out

10 Now after this (A)the Lord appointed [a]seventy (B)others, and sent them (C)in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. And He was saying to them, (D)The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go! (E)Behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. (F)Carry no money belt, no bag, no sandals, and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ And if a [b]man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him, but if not, it will return to you. Stay in [c]that house, eating and drinking [d]what they give you; for (G)the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not keep moving from house to house. And whatever city you enter and they receive you, (H)eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘(I)The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But in whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, 11 (J)Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off against you; yet know this, that (K)the kingdom of God is at hand.’

Luke 10:16-20

16 (A)The one who listens to you listens to Me, and (B)the one who rejects you rejects Me. And he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

The Joyful Results

17 Now the [a]seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even (C)the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18 And He said to them, “I was watching (D)Satan fall from heaven like lightning. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to (E)tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that (F)your names are recorded in heaven.”
