Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Yahweh Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.
23 Yahweh is my (A)shepherd,
I [a]shall (B)not want.
2 He makes me lie down in (C)green pastures;
He (D)leads me beside [b](E)quiet waters.
3 He (F)restores my soul;
He (G)guides me in the [c](H)paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I (I)walk through the [d]valley of the shadow of death,
I (J)fear no [e]evil, for (K)You are with me;
Your (L)rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You (M)prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You [f]have (N)anointed my head with oil;
My (O)cup overflows.
6 [g]Surely (P)goodness and lovingkindness will [h]pursue me all the days of my life,
And I will [i](Q)dwell in the house of Yahweh [j]forever.
28 Now he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to point out the way before him to (A)Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen. 29 And Joseph harnessed his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet his father Israel; as soon as he appeared [a]before him, he fell on his neck and (B)wept on his neck a long time. 30 Then Israel said to Joseph, “Now I can die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive.” 31 And Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “(C)I will go up and tell Pharaoh and say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me; 32 and the men are shepherds, for they have been [b]keepers of livestock; and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ 33 And it will be when Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘(D)What is your occupation?’ 34 then you shall say, ‘Your servants have been [c](E)keepers of livestock from our youth and until now, both we and our fathers,’ that you may [d]live in the land of (F)Goshen; for every shepherd is (G)an abomination to the Egyptians.”
Jacob’s Family Settles in Goshen
47 Then (H)Joseph went in and told Pharaoh and said, “My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds and all that they have, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of (I)Goshen.” 2 And he took five men from among his brothers and (J)set them before Pharaoh. 3 Then Pharaoh said to his brothers, “(K)What is your occupation?” So they said to Pharaoh, “Your servants are (L)shepherds, both we and our fathers.” 4 And they said to Pharaoh, “(M)We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants’ flocks, for (N)the famine is heavy in the land of Canaan. So now, please let your servants [e](O)live in the land of Goshen.” 5 Then Pharaoh said to [f]Joseph, “Your father and your brothers have come to you. 6 The land of Egypt is [g]at your disposal; have your father and your brothers settle in (P)the best of the land, let them settle in the land of Goshen; and if you know any (Q)excellent men among them, then [h]put them in charge of my livestock.”
Peter and John Arrested
4 Now as they were speaking to the people, the priests and (A)the captain of the temple guard and (B)the Sadducees (C)came up to them, 2 being greatly agitated because they were teaching the people and proclaiming [a](D)in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them and (E)put them in jail until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many of those who had heard the [b]message believed, and (F)the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
