Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Distribution Among Needy Believers
32 And the [a]congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and not one was saying that any of his possessions was his own, but, for them, (A)everything was common. 33 And (B)with great power the apostles were bearing (C)witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses (D)would sell them and bring the [b]proceeds of the sales 35 and (E)lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be (F)distributed to each as any had need.
How Good and Pleasant Is Unity
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For (A)brothers to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the good (B)oil upon the head,
Coming down upon the beard,
Aaron’s beard,
Coming down upon the (C)edge of his robes.
3 It is like the (D)dew of (E)Hermon
Coming down upon the (F)mountains of Zion;
For there, Yahweh (G)commanded the blessing—(H)life forever.
The Word of Life
1 What was (A)from the beginning, what we have (B)heard, what we have (C)seen with our eyes, what we (D)beheld and (E)touched with our hands, concerning the (F)Word of Life— 2 and (G)the life was manifested, and we have (H)seen and (I)bear witness and proclaim to you (J)the eternal life, which was (K)with the Father and was (L)manifested to us— 3 what we have (M)seen and (N)heard we proclaim to you also, so that you may also have fellowship with us; and indeed our (O)fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 (P)And these things we are writing, so that our (Q)joy may be made complete.
God Is Light
5 (R)And this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you, that (S)God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 (T)If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we (U)lie and (V)do not do the truth; 7 but if we (W)walk in the Light as (X)He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and (Y)the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 (Z)If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the (AA)truth is not in us. 9 (AB)If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and (AC)to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 (AD)If we say that we have not sinned, we (AE)make Him a liar and (AF)His word is not in us.
Jesus Christ Our Advocate
2 (AG)My little children, I am (AH)writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, (AI)we have an [a](AJ)Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and He Himself is (AK)the [b]propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also (AL)for those of the whole world.
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 So while it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and while the doors were shut where the disciples were, for (A)fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and *said to them, “[a](B)Peace be with you.” 20 And when He had said this, (C)He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then (D)rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “(E)Peace be with you; (F)as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He (G)breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 (H)If you forgive the sins of any, their sins [b]have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”
24 But (I)Thomas, one of (J)the twelve, called [c](K)Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in (L)His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, (M)I will not believe.”
26 And [d]after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been [e]shut, and stood in their midst and said, “(N)Peace be with you.” 27 Then He *said to Thomas, “(O)Bring your finger here, and see My hands; and bring your hand here and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? (P)Blessed are those who did not see, and yet believed.”
Why This Gospel Was Written
30 (Q)Therefore many other [f](R)signs Jesus also did in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written (S)so that you may believe that Jesus is the [g]Christ, (T)the Son of God; and that (U)believing you may have life in His name.
