Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
My Soul Thirsts for You
A Psalm of David. [a]When he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63 O God, (A)You are my God; I shall seek You [b]earnestly;
My soul (B)thirsts for You, my flesh [c]yearns for You,
In a (C)dry and weary land without water.
2 Thus I have (D)beheld You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your (E)lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips will laud You.
4 Thus I will bless You (F)as long as I live;
I will (G)lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul is (H)satisfied as with fatness and richness,
And my mouth offers (I)praises with lips of joyful songs.
Miriam and Aaron Speak Against Moses
12 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had taken as a wife (for he had taken a (A)Cushite woman); 2 (B)and they said, “Has Yahweh indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?” And Yahweh heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was (C)very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.) 4 Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, “You three come out to the tent of meeting.” So the three of them came out. 5 (D)Then Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called [a]Aaron and Miriam. And then both came forward, 6 and He said,
“Hear now My words:
If there is a prophet among you,
I, Yahweh, shall make Myself known to him in a (E)vision.
I shall speak with him in a (F)dream.
7 Not so, with (G)My servant Moses,
(H)He is faithful in all My household;
8 (I)With him I speak mouth to mouth,
Indeed clearly, and not in riddles,
And he beholds (J)the form of Yahweh.
Why then were you not afraid
To speak against My servant, against Moses?”
9 So the anger of Yahweh burned against them, and (K)He went away.
21 Then [a]a (A)strong angel (B)picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, (C)the great city, be thrown down with violence, and (D)will not be found any longer. 22 And (E)the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the (F)sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; 23 and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the (G)voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your (H)merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived (I)by your sorcery. 24 And in her was found the (J)blood of prophets and of saints and of (K)all who have been slain on the earth.”
