Genesis 24:34-38

34 So he said, “I am (A)Abraham’s servant. 35 And Yahweh has greatly (B)blessed my master, so he has become great; and He has given him (C)flocks and herds, and silver and gold, and male slaves and female slaves, and camels and donkeys. 36 Now (D)Sarah my master’s wife bore a son to my master [a]in her old age, and (E)he has given him all that he has. 37 (F)And my master made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I [b]live; 38 but you shall go to my father’s house and to my family, and take a wife for my son.’

Genesis 24:42-49

42 “So (A)I came today to the spring and said, ‘O Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, if now You will make my journey on which I go (B)successful; 43 behold, (C)I am standing by the spring of water, and may it be that the [a]maiden who comes out to draw, and to whom I say, “(D)Please let me drink a little water from your jar”; 44 and she will say to me, “You drink, and I will draw for your camels also”; she is the woman whom Yahweh has decided upon for my master’s son.’

45 “Before I had finished (E)speaking in my heart, behold, (F)Rebekah was coming out with her jar on her shoulder, and she went down to the spring and drew, and (G)I said to her, ‘Please give me a drink.’ 46 Then she hurried and lowered her jar from her shoulder and said, ‘(H)Drink, and I will also give water to your camels to drink’; so I drank, and she also gave water to the camels to drink. 47 (I)Then I asked her and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ And she said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him’; and I put the (J)ring on her nose and the bracelets on her [b]wrists. 48 And I (K)bowed low and worshiped Yahweh; and I blessed Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, (L)who had guided me in the true way to take the daughter of my master’s [c]relative for his son. 49 So now if you are going to (M)show lovingkindness and truth with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right or to the left.”

Genesis 24:58-67

58 Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” And she said, “I will go.” 59 Thus they sent away their sister Rebekah and (A)her nurse with Abraham’s servant and his men. 60 And they blessed Rebekah and said to her,

“May you, our sister,
(B)Become thousands of ten thousands,
And may (C)your seed possess
The gate of those who hate him.”

61 Then Rebekah arose with her young women, and they mounted the camels and went after the man. So the servant took Rebekah and went.

Rebekah Becomes Isaac’s Wife

62 Now Isaac had come from going to (D)Beer-lahai-roi, for he [a]was living in (E)the land of the [b]Negev. 63 And Isaac went out (F)to [c]muse in the field toward evening; and (G)he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, camels were coming. 64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes and saw Isaac and dismounted from the camel. 65 Then she said to the servant, “Who is that man walking in the field to meet us?” And the servant said, “He is my master.” Then she took her [d]veil and covered herself. 66 And the servant recounted to Isaac all the things that he had done. 67 Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and (H)he took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and (I)he loved her. Thus, Isaac was comforted after (J)his mother’s death.

Psalm 45:10-17

10 Listen, O daughter, give attention and incline your ear:
(A)Forget your people and your father’s house;
11 Then the King will desire your beauty.
Because He is your (B)Lord, (C)bow down to Him.
12 The daughter of (D)Tyre will come with a present;
The (E)rich among the people will seek your favor.

13 The King’s daughter is all glorious within her chamber;
Her clothing is (F)interwoven with gold.
14 She will be (G)led to the King (H)in embroidered work;
The (I)virgins, her companions who follow her,
Will be brought to You.
15 They will be led forth with gladness and rejoicing;
They will enter into the King’s palace.

16 In place of your fathers will be your sons;
You shall set them up as princes in all the earth.
17 I will cause (J)Your name to be remembered from generation to every generation;
Therefore the peoples (K)will give You thanks forever and ever.

Song of Songs 2:8-13

The Bride Delights in Her Beloved

[a]The voice of my beloved!
Behold, he is coming,
Leaping (A)on the mountains,
Jumping on the hills!
My beloved is like a (B)gazelle or a (C)young [b]stag.
Behold, he is standing behind our wall;
He gazes through the windows;
He is peering (D)through the lattice.

10 “My beloved answered and said to me,
(E)Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along.
11 For behold, the winter is past,
The rain is over; it is gone.
12 The flowers have appeared in the land;
The time for [c]pruning has arrived;
And the voice of the (F)turtledove has been heard in our land.
13 The (G)fig tree has ripened its figs,
And the (H)vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’”

Romans 7:15-25

15 For what I am working out, (A)I do not understand; for I am not practicing (B)what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. 16 But if I do the very thing I do not want, I agree with (C)the Law, that it is good. 17 So now, (D)no longer am I the one working it out, but sin which dwells in me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my (E)flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the working out of the good is not. 19 For (F)the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. 20 But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, (G)I am no longer the one working it out, but sin which dwells in me.

21 I find then (H)the [a]principle that in me evil is present—in me who wants to do good. 22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God [b]in (I)the inner man, 23 but I see (J)a different law in my members, waging war against the (K)law of my mind and making me a captive [c]to (L)the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from [d](M)the body of this (N)death? 25 [e](O)Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh (P)the law of sin.

Matthew 11:16-19

16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call out to the other children, 17 and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not [a]mourn.’ 18 For John came neither (A)eating nor (B)drinking, and they say, ‘(C)He has a demon!’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a [b]drunkard, (D)a friend of tax collectors and [c]sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated [d]by her deeds.”

Matthew 11:25-30

Come to Me

25 (A)At that [a]time Jesus said, “I praise You, (B)Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that (C)You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. 26 Yes, (D)Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 27 (E)All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father (F)except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

28 (G)Come to Me, all [b]who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and (H)learn from Me, for I am [c]gentle and humble in heart, and (I)you will find rest for your souls. 30 For (J)My yoke is [d]easy and My burden is light.”
