Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
God Is King of All the Earth
For the choir director. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.
47 O (A)clap your hands, all peoples;
(B)Make a loud shout to God with the sound of a shout of [a]joy.
2 For Yahweh Most High is [b](C)fearsome,
A (D)great King over all the earth.
3 He (E)subdues peoples under us
And nations under our feet.
4 He chooses our (F)inheritance for us,
The (G)pride of Jacob whom He loves. [c]Selah.
5 God has (H)ascended [d]with a loud shout,
Yahweh, [e]with the (I)sound of a trumpet.
6 (J)Sing praises to God, sing praises;
Sing praises to (K)our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the (L)King of all the earth;
Sing praises (M)with a [f]skillful psalm.
8 God (N)reigns over the nations,
God [g]sits on (O)His holy throne.
9 The (P)nobles of the peoples have assembled themselves with the (Q)people of the God of Abraham,
For the (R)shields of the earth belong to God;
He [h]is (S)highly exalted.
15 Then the angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time from heaven, 16 and said, “(A)By Myself I have sworn, declares Yahweh, because you have done this thing and have not spared your son, your only one, 17 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly (B)multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as (C)the sand which is on the seashore; and (D)your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. 18 (E)In your [a]seed all the nations of the earth shall [b]be blessed, because you have (F)listened to My voice.”
9 Now concerning (A)love of the brothers, you (B)have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are (C)taught by God to love one another, 10 for indeed (D)you do practice it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to (E)excel still more, 11 and to make it your ambition (F)to lead a quiet life and (G)attend to your own business and (H)work with your hands, just as we commanded you, 12 so that you will (I)walk properly toward (J)outsiders and [a](K)not be in any need.
