The Lord Delivers Men from Manifold Troubles.
17 Fools, because of [a]their rebellious way,
And (A)because of their iniquities, were afflicted.
18 Their (B)soul abhorred all kinds of food,
And they (C)drew near to the (D)gates of death.
19 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them out of their distresses.
20 He (E)sent His word and (F)healed them,
And (G)delivered them from their [b]destructions.
21 (H)Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His [c]wonders to the sons of men!
22 Let them also offer (I)sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And (J)tell of His works with joyful singing.
8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying, 9 “Now behold, (A)I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your [a]descendants after you; 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth. 11 I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall (B)never again be cut off by the water of the flood, (C)neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 God said, “This is (D)the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for [b]all successive generations; 13 I set My (E)bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. 14 It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, 15 and (F)I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and (G)never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the (H)everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in (B)the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as (C)He chose us in Him before (D)the foundation of the world, that we would be (E)holy and blameless before [a]Him. (F)In love 5 [b]He (G)predestined us to (H)adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, (I)according to the [c]kind intention of His will, 6 (J)to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in (K)the Beloved.
