8 Unto the end, for the presses: a psalm of David.

² O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in the whole earth! For thy magnificence is elevated above the heavens.

³ Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise, because of thy enemies, that thou mayst destroy the enemy and the avenger.

⁴ For I will behold thy heavens, the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast founded.

⁵ What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?

⁶ Thou hast made him a little less than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honour:

⁷ And hast set him over the works of thy hands.

⁸ Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover the beasts also of the fields.

⁹ The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, that pass through the paths of the sea.

¹⁰ O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in all the earth!

¹² Didst thou since thy birth command the morning, and shew the dawning of the day its place?

¹³ And didst thou hold the extremities of the earth shaking them, and hast thou shaken the ungodly out of it?

¹⁴ The seal shall be restored as clay, and shall stand as a garment:

¹⁵ From the wicked their light shall be taken away, and the high arm shall be broken.

¹⁶ Hast thou entered into the depths of the sea, and walked in the lowest parts of the deep?

¹⁷ Have the gates of death been opened to thee, and hast thou seen the darksome doors?

¹⁸ Hast thou considered the breadth of the earth? tell me, if thou knowest all things?

¹⁹ Where is the way where light dwelleth, and where is the place of darkness:

²⁰ That thou mayst bring every thing to its own bounds, and understand the paths of the house thereof.

²¹ Didst thou know then that thou shouldst be born? and didst thou know the number of thy days?

¹² For which cause I also suffer these things: but I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and I am certain that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him, against that day.

¹³ Hold the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me in faith, and in the love which is in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ Keep the good thing committed to thy trust by the Holy Ghost, who dwelleth in us.
