Psalm 18:20-30

20 The Lord rewarded me according to my [a]righteousness: according to the pureness of mine hand he recompensed me:

21 Because I kept the ways of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.

22 For all his laws were before me, and I did not cast away his [b]commandments from me.

23 I was upright also with him, and have kept me from my [c]wickedness.

24 Therefore the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness, and according to the pureness of mine hands in his sight.

25 With the [d]godly thou wilt show thyself godly: with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.

26 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure, and with the froward thou wilt show thyself froward.

27 Thus thou wilt save the poor people, and wilt [e]cast down to proud looks.

28 Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will lighten my darkness.

29 For by thee I have [f]broken through an host, and by my God I have leaped over a wall.

30 The way of God is uncorrupt: the [g]word of the Lord is tried in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.

Ruth 3:8-18

And at midnight the man was afraid [a]and caught hold: and lo, a woman lay at his feet.

Then he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore the wing of thy garment over thine handmaid: for thou art the kinsman.

10 Then he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: thou hast [b]showed more goodness in the latter end, than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, were they poor or rich.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not: I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

12 And now, it is true that I am thy kinsman, howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

13 Tarry tonight, and when morning is come, if he [c]will do the duty of a kinsman unto thee, well, let him do the kinsman’s duty: but if he will not do the kinsman’s part, then will I do the duty of a kinsman, as the Lord liveth: sleep until the morning.

14 ¶ And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she arose before one could know another: for he said, Let no man know, that a woman came into the floor.

15 Also he said, Bring the [d]sheet that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid them on her, and she went into the city.

16 And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, [e]Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her,

17 And said, These six measures of barley gave he me: for he said to me, Thou shalt not come empty unto thy mother-in-law.

18 Then said she, My daughter, sit still, until thou know how the thing will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he hath finished the matter this same day.

John 13:31-35

31 [a]When he was gone out, Jesus said, [b]Now is the son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

33 [c]Little children, yet a little while am I with you: ye shall seek me, but as I said unto the (A)Jews, Whither I go, can ye not come: also to you say I now.

34 (B)A new commandment give I unto you, that ye love one another: as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know, that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
