Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
20 The Lord rewarded me according to my [a]righteousness: according to the pureness of mine hand he recompensed me:
21 Because I kept the ways of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.
22 For all his laws were before me, and I did not cast away his [b]commandments from me.
23 I was upright also with him, and have kept me from my [c]wickedness.
24 Therefore the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness, and according to the pureness of mine hands in his sight.
25 With the [d]godly thou wilt show thyself godly: with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.
26 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure, and with the froward thou wilt show thyself froward.
27 Thus thou wilt save the poor people, and wilt [e]cast down to proud looks.
28 Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will lighten my darkness.
29 For by thee I have [f]broken through an host, and by my God I have leaped over a wall.
30 The way of God is uncorrupt: the [g]word of the Lord is tried in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.
15 ¶ And when she arose to glean, Boaz commanded his servants, saying, Let her gather among the sheaves, and do not rebuke her.
16 Also let fall some of the sheaves for her, and let it lie, that she may gather it up, and rebuke her not.
17 So she gleaned in the field until evening, and she threshed that she had gathered, and it was about an (A)Ephah of barley.
18 ¶ And she took it up, and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gathered: Also she [a]took forth, and gave to her that which she had reserved, when she was sufficed.
19 Then her mother-in-law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned today? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he, that knew thee. And she showed her mother-in-law, with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought today, is Boaz.
20 And Naomi said unto her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he of the Lord: for he ceaseth not to do good to the living and to the [b]dead. Again Naomi said unto her, The man is near unto us, and of our affinity.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said also certainly unto me, Thou shalt be with my servants, until they have ended all mine harvest.
22 And Naomi answered unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, It is best, my daughter, that thou go out with his maids, that they [c]meet thee not in another field.
23 Then she kept her by the maids of Boaz, to gather unto the end of barley harvest, and of wheat harvest, and [d]dwelt with her mother-in-law.
17 (A)Recompense to no man evil for evil: procure things honest in the sight of all men.
18 (B)If it be possible, as much as in you is, have peace with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, (C)avenge not yourselves, but give place unto wrath: for it is written, (D)Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 (E)Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him: if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap [a]coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with goodness.
8 [a]Owe nothing to any man, but to love one another: [b]for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the [c]Law.
9 For this, (A)Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet: and if there be any other commandment, it is [d]briefly comprehended in this saying, even in this, (B)Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
10 Love doeth not evil to his neighbor: therefore is love the (C)fulfilling of the Law.
