Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
15 “The LORD your God will raise up to you a Prophet like me from among you, from your brothers. You shall listen to him,
16 “according to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me hear the Voice of my LORD God no more, nor see this great fire anymore, so that I do not die.’
17 “And the LORD said to me, ‘They have well spoken.
18 ‘I will raise up a Prophet for them like you, from among their brothers. And I will put My Words in his mouth. And he shall speak to all those whom I shall Command him.
19 ‘And whoever will not listen to My Words (which he shall speak in My Name), I will require it of him.
20 ‘But the prophet who shall presume to speak a word in My Name whom I have not Commanded to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’
111 I will praise the LORD with my whole heart in the assembly and the congregation of the Just.
2 The works of the LORD are great and are sought out by all those who love them.
3 His work is beautiful and glorious; and His righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made His wonderful works to be held in remembrance. The LORD is merciful and full of compassion.
5 He has given a portion to those who fear Him. He will be ever-mindful of His Covenant.
6 He has shown the power of His works to His people, in giving to them the heritage of the heathen.
7 The works of His hands are truth and judgment. All His statutes are true.
8 They are established forever and ever and are done in truth and equity.
9 He sent redemption to His people. He has commanded His Covenant forever. Holy and fearful is His Name.
10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD. All those who observe them have good understanding. His praise endures forever. Praise the LORD
8 And concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
2 Now, if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 But if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.
4 Therefore, concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
5 For though there are those that are called gods, whether in Heaven or on Earth (as there are many gods, and many lords.)
6 Yet to us there is but one God, the Father (from Whom are all things, and we are in Him), and one Lord Jesus Christ, (through Whom are all things, and we are through Him).
7 But not everyone has that knowledge. For some, being conscience of the idol until now, eat as though sacrificing to an idol. And so, their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8 But food does not make us commendable to God. For we are neither more so if we eat it, nor less so if we do not eat it.
9 But take heed, lest by any means this power of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.
10 For if anyone sees you, who has knowledge, sit at table in the idols’ temple, shall not his conscience, which is weak, be emboldened to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols?
11 And through your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died.
12 Now when you sin so against the brothers, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
13 So if food offends my brother, I will eat no flesh while the world stands, that I may not offend my brother.
21 So they entered into Capernaum. And immediately on the Sabbath day, He entered into the Synagogue, and taught.
22 And they were astonished at His doctrine. For He taught them as One Who had authority, and not as the scribes.
23 And there was a man in their Synagogue in whom was an unclean spirit. And he cried out,
24 saying, “Ah, what have we to do with You, O Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know Who You are: even the Holy One of God.”
25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Hold your peace, and come out of him.”
26 And the unclean spirit tore at him, and cried with a loud voice, and came out of him.
27 And they were all amazed. And they asked one another, saying, “What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? For He commands even the foul spirits with authority, and they obey Him.”
28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region bordering on Galilee.
