Psalm 119:97-104

Mem

97 Oh how I (A)love Your law!
It is my (B)meditation all the day.
98 Your (C)commandments make me wiser than my enemies,
For they are [a]mine forever.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my (D)meditation.
100 I perceive (E)more than the aged,
Because I have (F)observed Your precepts.
101 I have (G)restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not (H)turned aside from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How (I)sweet is Your [b]word to my [c]taste!
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 From Your precepts I (J)get perception;
Therefore I (K)hate every false way.

Jeremiah 26:1-15

The Words of Yahweh Against Judah

26 In the beginning of the reign of (A)Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from Yahweh, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘(B)Stand in the court of the house of Yahweh, and you shall speak to all the cities of Judah who have (C)come to worship in the house of Yahweh (D)all the words that I have commanded you to speak to them. (E)Do not take away a word! (F)Perhaps they will listen and everyone will turn from his evil way, that (G)I may [a]relent of the evil which I am devising to [b]bring against them because of the evil of their deeds.’ And you will say to them, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “(H)If you will not listen to Me, to (I)walk in My law which I have given before you, to listen to the words of (J)My slaves the prophets, whom I have been sending to you, rising up early and sending, but you have not listened, then I will make this house like (K)Shiloh, and this city I will make a (L)curse to all the nations of the earth.”’”

Plot to Murder Jeremiah

The (M)priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Yahweh. Now it happened that when Jeremiah finished speaking all that Yahweh had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, “(N)You must surely die! Why have you prophesied in the name of Yahweh saying, ‘This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be (O)laid waste, without inhabitant’?” And (P)all the people gathered about Jeremiah in the house of Yahweh.

10 When the (Q)officials of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to the house of Yahweh and sat in the (R)entrance of the New Gate of the house of Yahweh. 11 Then the priests and the prophets (S)spoke to the officials and to all the people, saying, “A (T)judgment of death for this man! For he has prophesied (U)against this city as you have heard in your hearing.”

12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, “(V)Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard. 13 So now, (W)make good your ways and your deeds and listen to the voice of Yahweh your God; and Yahweh will [c]relent of the evil demise which He has spoken against you. 14 But as for me, behold, (X)I am in your hands; do with me as is good and right in your eyes. 15 Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring (Y)innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on its inhabitants; for truly Yahweh has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.”

Acts 17:22-34

22 So Paul stood in the midst of the [a]Areopagus and said, “Men of (A)Athens, I observe that you are very (B)religious in all respects. 23 For while I was passing through and examining the (C)objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore what (D)you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. 24 (E)The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is (F)Lord of heaven and earth, does not (G)dwell in temples made with hands; 25 nor is He served by human hands, (H)as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; 26 and (I)He made from one man every nation of mankind to inhabit all the face of the earth, having (J)determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, (K)though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for (L)in Him we live and move and [b]exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His offspring.’ 29 Being then the offspring of God, we (M)ought not to suppose that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the craft and thought of man. 30 Therefore having (N)overlooked (O)the times of ignorance, God is (P)now commanding men that everyone everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed (Q)a day in which (R)He will judge [c](S)the world in righteousness [d]through a Man whom He (T)determined, having furnished proof to all [e]by (U)raising Him from the dead.”

32 Now when they heard about (V)the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer, but others said, “We shall hear you [f]again concerning this.” 33 In this way, Paul went out of their midst. 34 But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the (W)Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.
