³ Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “^(A)Make your ways and your deeds good, and I will let you dwell in this place.

⁵ For ^(A)if you truly make your ways and your deeds good, if you truly ^(B)do justice between a man and his neighbor,

^8 (A)but if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will ^[a](B)relent concerning the calamity I planned to do against it.

¹¹ So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I am ^(A)forming calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh ^(B)turn back, each of you from his evil way, and do good in your ways and your deeds.”’

^3 (A)Perhaps they will listen and everyone will turn from his evil way, that ^(B)I may ^[a]relent of the evil which I am devising to ^[b]bring against them because of the evil of their deeds.’

¹⁵ Also I have sent to you all My ^(A)slaves the prophets, rising up early and sending, saying: ‘^(B)Turn now every man from his evil way and make good your deeds, and ^(C)do not walk after other gods to ^[a]serve them. Then you will ^(D)inhabit the land which I have given to you and to your fathers; but you have not ^(E)inclined your ear or listened to Me.

² And he ^(A)prayed to Yahweh and said, “Ah! O Yahweh, was not this my word to myself while I was still in my own land? Therefore I went ahead to ^(B)flee to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a ^(C)gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning evil.
