Psalm 85:1-2

Psalm 85[a]

Prayer for the People’s Salvation

For the director.[b] A psalm of the sons of Korah.

Lord, you showed favor to your land;
    you restored the good fortune of Jacob.[c]

Psalm 85:8-13

Show us, O Lord, your kindness[a]
    and grant us your salvation.
[b]I will listen for God’s response;
    surely the Lord will proclaim peace to his people, his saints,[c]
    to those who turn to him with their whole heart.
10 His salvation is indeed near for those who fear him;
    his glory[d] will dwell in our land.
11 [e]Kindness and faithfulness[f] will meet;
    righteousness and peace will embrace.
12 Faithfulness will spring forth from the earth,
    and righteousness[g] will look down from heaven.
13 [h]The Lord will grant us prosperity,[i]
    and our land will yield its harvest.

Ezekiel 36:24-28

24 I will take you from among the nations and gather you from all the foreign lands, and I will bring you back to your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from everything that defiles you. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.

26 I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you. I will remove from your body a heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh in its place. 27 I will put my Spirit in you and make you follow my statutes and my ordinances.

28 Then you will live in the land that I gave to your ancestors. You will be my people, but I shall be your God.

Mark 11:27-33

27 The Authority of Jesus Questioned.[a] They returned once again to Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders approached him 28 and asked, “By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you the authority to do them?” 29 Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question. Give me an answer, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30 Did John’s baptism originate from heaven or from men? Tell me!”

31 They argued among themselves, “If we say: ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ 32 But how can we say, ‘From men’?”—for they were afraid of the people, who all regarded John as a true prophet.

33 Therefore, they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Then neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
