Version
Jeremiah 28:5-9

Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the sight of the priests and in the sight of all the people who were standing at the (A)house of the Lord, and Jeremiah the prophet said, “(B)Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord fulfill your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the Lords house and all the exiles, from Babylon to this place. Yet (C)hear now this word which I am going to speak [a]so that you and all the people can hear it! The prophets who were before me and before you from ancient times also (D)prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms regarding war, disaster, and plague. As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, (E)when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.”

Psalm 89:1-4

The Lords Covenant with David and Israel’s Afflictions.

A [a]Maskil of [b]Ethan [c]the Ezrahite.

89 I will (A)sing of the graciousness of the Lord forever;
To all generations I will (B)make Your (C)faithfulness known with my mouth.
For I have said, “(D)Graciousness will be built up forever;
In the heavens You will establish Your (E)faithfulness.”
“I have made a covenant with (F)My chosen;
I have (G)sworn to My servant David,
I will establish your [d](H)descendants forever
And build up your (I)throne to all generations.” Selah

Psalm 89:15-18

15 Blessed are the people who know the [a](A)joyful sound!
Lord, they walk in the (B)light of Your face.
16 In (C)Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
17 For You are the glory of (D)their strength,
And by Your favor [b]our (E)horn is exalted.
18 For our (F)shield belongs to the Lord,
[c]And our king to the (G)Holy One of Israel.

Romans 6:12-23

12 Therefore sin is not to (A)reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on (B)presenting [a]the parts of your body to sin as [b]instruments of unrighteousness; but (C)present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and [c]your body’s parts as [d]instruments of righteousness for God. 14 For (D)sin shall not (E)be master over you, for (F)you are not under [e]the Law but (G)under grace.

15 What then? (H)Are we to sin because we are not under [f]the Law but under grace? [g](I)Far from it! 16 Do you not (J)know that the one to whom you present yourselves as (K)slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of (L)sin [h]resulting in death, or of obedience [i]resulting in righteousness? 17 But (M)thanks be to God that [j]though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that [k](N)form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18 and after being (O)freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness. 19 (P)I am speaking [l]in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just (Q)as you presented [m]the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, [n]resulting in further lawlessness, so now present [o]your body’s parts as slaves to righteousness, [p]resulting in sanctification.

20 For (R)when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relation to righteousness. 21 Therefore what [q](S)benefit were you then [r]deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is (T)death. 22 But now having been (U)freed from sin and (V)enslaved to God, you [s]derive your [t](W)benefit, [u]resulting in sanctification, and (X)the outcome, eternal life. 23 For the wages of (Y)sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is (Z)eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 10:40-42

The Reward for Service

40 (A)The one who [a]receives you [b]receives Me, and (B)the one who [c]receives Me [d]receives Him who sent Me. 41 (C)The one who [e]receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and the one who [f]receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person shall receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And (D)whoever gives one of these [g]little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”
