Psalm 119:161-168

Shin

161 (A)Rulers persecute me without cause,
But my heart (B)stands in awe of Your words.
162 I (C)rejoice at Your [a]word,
Like one who (D)finds great plunder.
163 I (E)hate and loathe falsehood,
But I (F)love Your Law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You
Because of Your (G)righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your Law have (H)great peace,
And [b](I)nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I (J)hope for Your salvation, Lord,
And do Your commandments.
167 My (K)soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I (L)love them exceedingly.
168 I (M)keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my (N)ways are before You.

Jeremiah 18:1-11

The Potter and the Clay

18 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, “Arise and (A)go down to the potter’s house, and there I will announce My words to you.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel. But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Am I not able, house of Israel, to deal with you as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Behold, like the (B)clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, house of Israel. At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to (C)uproot it, to tear it down, or to destroy it; (D)if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will (E)relent of the disaster that I planned to bring on it. Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to (F)build up or to plant it; 10 if it does (G)evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will (H)relent of the good with which I said [a]that I would bless it. 11 So now, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am (I)forming a disaster against you and devising a plan against you. Now (J)turn back, each of you from his evil way, and [b]correct your ways and your deeds!”’

Matthew 11:20-24

The Unrepenting Cities

20 Then He began to reprimand the cities in which most of His [a](A)miracles were done, because they did not repent. 21 (B)Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, (C)Bethsaida! For if the [b]miracles that occurred in you had occurred in (D)Tyre and (E)Sidon, they would have repented long ago in [c](F)sackcloth and ashes. 22 Nevertheless I say to you, (G)it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on (H)the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, (I)Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be (J)brought down to (K)Hades! For if the [d]miracles that occurred in you had occurred in (L)Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 Nevertheless I say to you that (M)it will be more tolerable for the land of (N)Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you.”
