Psalm 24

The King of Glory

A Psalm of David.

24 (A)The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,[a]
    the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has (B)founded it upon (C)the seas
    and established it upon the rivers.
(D)Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
    And who shall stand in his (E)holy place?
(F)He who has (G)clean hands and (H)a pure heart,
    who does not (I)lift up his soul to (J)what is false
    and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive (K)blessing from the Lord
    and (L)righteousness from (M)the God of his salvation.
Such is (N)the generation of those who seek him,
    who (O)seek the face of the God of Jacob.[b] Selah
(P)Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
    that (Q)the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord, strong and mighty,
    the Lord, (R)mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
    And lift them up, O ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
    (S)The Lord of hosts,
    he is the King of glory! Selah

Jeremiah 46:18-28

18 (A)“As I live, declares the King,
    (B)whose name is the Lord of hosts,
like (C)Tabor among the mountains
    and like (D)Carmel by the sea, shall one come.
19 (E)Prepare yourselves baggage for exile,
    O (F)inhabitants of Egypt!
For (G)Memphis shall become a waste,
    a ruin, (H)without inhabitant.
20 “A beautiful (I)heifer is Egypt,
    but a biting fly (J)from the north has come upon her.
21 Even her hired soldiers in her midst
    are like (K)fattened calves;
yes, they have turned and fled together;
    they did not stand,
for the day of their calamity has come upon them,
    (L)the time of their punishment.
22 “She makes (M)a sound like a serpent gliding away;
    for her enemies march in force
and come against her with axes
    (N)like those who fell trees.
23 (O)They shall cut down her forest,
declares the Lord,
    though it is impenetrable,
because (P)they are more numerous than locusts;
    they are without number.
24 The daughter of Egypt shall be put to shame;
    she shall be delivered into the hand of (Q)a people from the north.”

25 The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, said: “Behold, I am bringing punishment upon (R)Amon of (S)Thebes, and Pharaoh and Egypt (T)and her gods and her kings, upon Pharaoh and those who trust in him. 26 (U)I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their life, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. (V)Afterwards Egypt shall be inhabited (W)as in the days of old, declares the Lord.

27 (X)“But fear not, O Jacob my servant,
    nor be dismayed, O Israel,
for behold, I will save you from far away,
    and your offspring from the land of their captivity.
Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease,
    and none shall make him afraid.
28 (Y)Fear not, O Jacob my servant,
declares the Lord,
    for I am with you.
I will make a full end of all the nations
    to which I have driven you,
    but of you I will not make a full end.
(Z)I will discipline you in just measure,
    and I will by no means leave you unpunished.”

Revelation 21:5-27

And (A)he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I (B)am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for (C)these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, (D)“It is done! (E)I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. (F)To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. (G)The one who conquers will have this heritage, and (H)I will be his God and (I)he will be my son. (J)But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, (K)their portion will be in (L)the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is (M)the second death.”

The New Jerusalem

Then came (N)one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of (O)the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you (P)the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And (Q)he carried me away in the Spirit to (R)a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11 (S)having the glory of God, (T)its radiance (U)like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall, (V)with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve (W)foundations, and (X)on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 And the one who spoke with me (Y)had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. 16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.[a] Its length and width and height are equal. 17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits[b] by (Z)human measurement, which is also (AA)an angel's measurement. 18 The wall was built of (AB)jasper, while the city was pure gold, (AC)clear as glass. 19 (AD)The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and (AE)the street of the city was pure gold, transparent as glass.

22 And (AF)I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city (AG)has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for (AH)the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light (AI)will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth (AJ)will bring their glory into it, 25 and (AK)its gates will never be shut by day—and (AL)there will be no night there. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honour of the nations. 27 But (AM)nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's (AN)book of life.
