Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
75 We will praise You, O God! We will praise You, for Your Name is near! They will declare Your wondrous works.
2 “When I shall take a convenient time, I will judge righteously.
3 “The Earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved; but I will establish the pillars of it. Selah.
4 “I said to the foolish, ‘Do not be so foolish,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn.
5 “‘Do not lift up your horn on High, nor speak with a stiff neck.’”
6 For exaltation is neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge. He makes low and He makes high.
8 For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, and the wine is foaming. It is fully mixed, and He pours out of the same. Surely, all the wicked of the Earth shall drain and drink the dregs thereof.
9 But I will declare forever and sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 Also, all the horns of the wicked I will break. But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted. To him who excels on Neginoth: a Psalm, or song, committed to Asaph
1 The burden of Nineveh. The Book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 God is jealous. And the LORD avenges. The LORD avenges, the LORD of anger. The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies.
3 The LORD is slow to anger, but great in power, and will not surely acquit. The LORD has His way in the whirlwind, and in the storm. And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
4 He rebukes the sea and dries it. And He dries up all the rivers. Bashan is withered, and Carmel. And the flower of Lebanon is wilted.
5 The mountains tremble for Him, and the hills melt. And the Earth is burnt at His sight, yea the world and all who dwell in it.
6 Who can stand before His wrath? Or who can abide in the fierceness of His wrath? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken by Him.
7 The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. And He knows those who trust in Him.
8 But passing over as with a flood, He will utterly destroy its place. And darkness shall pursue His enemies.
9 What do you imagine against the LORD? He will make an utter destruction. Affliction shall not rise up a second time.
10 For like tangled thorns, and like drunkards in their drunkenness, they shall be devoured as fully dried stubble.
11 There comes one out of you who imagines evil against the LORD, a wicked counselor.
12 Thus says the LORD: “Though they are quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall pass. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
13 “For now I will break his yoke from you and will burst your bonds asunder.
12 Here is the patience of saints. Here are those who keep the Commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
13 Then I heard a voice from Heaven, saying to me, “Write: ‘The dead who die in the Lord are fully blessed.’” “Even so,” says the Spirit, “for they rest from their labors and their works still follow them.”
14 And I looked. And there was a white cloud. And upon the cloud, One sitting Who looks like the Son of Man; having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the Temple, crying with a loud voice to Him Who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in your sickle and reap! For the time has come to reap! For the harvest of the Earth is ripe!”
16 And He Who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the Earth. And the Earth was reaped.
17 Then another angel came out of the Temple, which is in Heaven, having also a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar - who had power over fire - and cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, and said, “Thrust in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vineyard of the Earth! For her grapes are ripe!”
19 And the angel thrust in his sharp sickle on the Earth, and cut down the vines of the vineyard of the Earth and cast them into that great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trampled outside the City. And blood flowed out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for the space of 1600 furlongs.
